There are multiple types of shuffle alleys, most built with 5 types of scoring on each. They used a standard 3 to 4 games on most (Regulation, Flash, Strike 90, Double Flash) for scoring and the other 1 or 2 were special to the machine or era. So there is reason to have PBX to allow different shuffle games to be played. The neat thing is they never changed the playfield switch wiring, so the cabinet is compatible with every williams and united shuffle games ever built.
