New pinemhi.ini is uploaded to first post (renamed to .txt)

It has all games that were named like Sopranos, The (...) changed to The Sopranos (...) which is proper name.

Tables are sorted as before - by name without "The"

How is that done:

notepad++

regular expression search/replace

search string: ^(.*), The(.*)$

replace string: The \1\2

...

i think dna did great job with pinemhi utility and it would be pity not to use it

why would you wanna not use it?

maybe i should point out that this is totally offline utility - it only reads data from nvram which has only your scores, it is not connected in any way to leaderboard utility that uploads scores to web

My apologies I was confusing the two.  Yea I agree this doesn't need to be optional.

Even though I believe I will use pinemhi, I do think such option should be not mandatory, especially if error messages creep in as it takes away from the clean look of the front end. But really, its a cool feature and I plan to finally install it this weekend.

OK Trying to get pinemhi to work smothly and am finding some problems.  Some tables it works fine. Medieval Madness.  However some tables are not working at all.

Ali gives a "Not supported rom : ali.nv" message although it seems to be supported in the ini.  Hiscore.txt is showing "Not supported rom : C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\VPinMame\nvram\ali.nv" (Edit when running PINemHi.exe -lgv Ali is not supported so never mind this one, how ever I would sugest supressing the message altogether)

And the one I really am annoyed with is Attack From Mars as it is giving me an Windows program crashed dialog "PINemHi has stopped working"  In the details it states an InvalidCastException.  It does populate hiscore.txt properly though and shows the data in the exit menu

The not supported messages I can live with the Windows error not so much.

crashing - i don't have any problems with crashing of pinemhi, but if you have some problems you should reproduce them from command line and report to dna

maybe it's something with your environment, since it works for others, maybe some file is blocked after download and you have to unblock it?

there are some games that are not supported - reason more to show message rom not supported - it will make you ask dna if rom will be supported or even better it would make you search for hiscores locations your self and sending them to dna so that he can easily implement it - and when you implement one table you have all table's that use same engine covered cause they all have hiscores on same position. While you are serching for hiscores - you might as well search for replay scores and publish them also

I will post examples how it is done in another thread.

for disabling pinemhi - maybe you can rename pinemhi.exe to something else, didn't really try

i could change script so that pinemhi.exe is run only if it exists in next release

Obviously something in the NVRAM file was corrupt as it would crash when retrieving the Buy-In High Scores.  I deleted it and then recreated it by running the table and now every thing works.

Thanks for the tip on running it from the command line.

Blur, here is the picture with the windows button showing when you have the taskbar on backglass:

(dont fix this on my account, just showing it so you know it is out there and maybe a pain for other users)

backglass%2520issue.JPG

This is with windows in normal mode, usually I have it set to classic mode, which basically does the same thing but instead of a round windows icon, you get the old rectangle icon that says "Windows".

For my purposes I simply moved the taskbar to playfield, and then I have no issues.  One interesting thing that I saw happen in your new WIP10 that wasn't happening in the older build, is that the entire backglass art is missing, as you see here.  Previously the art would show up, but the little windows button would display on top of it.

fp has it's own problems sometimes with backglass and with print screen

In this version i'he the problem with FP table.

Black screen in loading mode persist.

In penultimate fplaunch wp10 (beta) this problem was no there.

Continuous testing changing my settings.

What do you think?

Thanks Blur.

Blur that particular table was FP but I also have VP tables and they do the same thing.  Or are you saying that it will always do this with FP enabled but if I set config to useFP=FALSE then I would no longer have the issue?

Give me the version that had no problems with loading FP (you can upload ahk here or just post link to that version) and i will compare it to current version to see what is changed for fp loading.

Black screen on backglass looks like driver problem or configuration problem.

Did you tested vp and fp outside of hyperpin?

If you did - again same as in post above try again this old fplaunch that fp works with and send me that ahk or link to it and i will compare what's different in table launching code.

I'm 100% cool with using pinemhi, I just didn't realize it needed to be configured with the path, works fine for me now. I only wish I could turn off the listing of the "Buy-In" scores, since that's a feature I turn off on all my tables, always felt it was kinda cheap. Not a huge deal though. :)

Thanks blur!
Poof....
Your wish has been granted by the hiscore-fairy :)

Have to wait till the next release though but that won't be too long.
I already got it working here...

@Blur

I checked all the games beginning  with "the" as i am working on adding the new roms from vpinmame 2.5

Seems some of them do have the "the" on the end of the name.

These are the games of which all roms end with "the"

The Lord of the rings

The Sopranos

The incredible Hulk

The lost world: Jurassic Park

The Simpsons Pinball Party

I'll change them in the pinemhi.ini for the next release.

You might wanna change them in the pinemhi.ini you have at the beginning of this thread as otherwise people may miss out on hiscores from the above games.

First off, thank you Blur and DNA! I am using the latest FPlaunch in Win 7 64. I have Fplaunch, HS, VP & FP set to tun as admin. Everything runs fine including perfect focus and no lock-ups from table to table or on exit. I only have one weird issue: when I hit P, the menu with hi scores doesn't remain on the screen more that 10-12 secs before the screen turns black . I then have to hit either shift or the P key to get the game table or menu back. . Is the pause menu timed? Also, the pause menu background is black when running only future PB tables; on VP tables, the menu is cleanly overlayed. Thanks for any tips.
