just checked my wheels - most of them really are 700.

Hyperpin probably scales them to 700 so it would really speed up if they are 700 already.

What you could do to check is put some totally black or white wheel and do print screen when it is displayed on full hd screen - if wheel width in printscren image is 700 - then that's it, 700 is ideal

there are some wheels that are too big so to reduce them we add empty space to the sides, but we could also scale that 900 image to 700 (with empty space on sides) so that hyperpin doesn't have to scale it

nope, 700 is not ideal image width

just tested and ideal width for full hd screen (1920x1080) is 862

i made white wheel image and did print screen in hyperpin and white wheel is exactly 862 in width

wheel image size was 560 and then 862 and displayed wheel image was 862 in both cases

so if you want optimal wheel width so that hyperpin doesn't have to scale - make all your wheels with width 862

Is this behaviour consistent over the whole range of heights of an image, or does the height of the image also change the scaling?

it is consistent - you can have any width and height - image will be scaled to 862 x something

height/width ratio will stay the same - so 50x50 image will be scaled to 862x862

of course for different screen resolutions wheel size is a bit different but wheel occupies same percentage of the screen

it is consistent

Sorry, but as i wrote before: on my PC, some logos are 924px wide.
E.g. the Amazon Hunt wheel image. Can you try it your PC, please?

Nope, it is 862 on my pc, here is a crop from screenshot with few pixels so that you can see exactly where picture ends (picture is white).

I changed the name so that it is first in my hyperpin.

Picture is 865, on one side there are two pixels in border and one on the other - that's 862.

Is your resolution 1920 x 1080?

Yes, it is. Here's how it looks like in my Hyperpin:

Filled with green, 924px wide. WTF?

yup, it is 924. Maybe some difference in our rigs causes this.

Do you have windows 7?

Did you moved taskbar to backglass monitor?

We'll see what others have.

Windows 7 - 64bit - german version.

Taskbar is on playfield screen = primary monitor.

Nvidia GTX 560 TI, drivers 310.90.

And no reply from the creator about the different sizes (yet).

Try to move taskbar to the bottom of backglass. Though it should be irrelevant where is the taskbar, but i remember there was some problem with hp/vp/fplaunch because of taskbar on playfield.

I tested a bit on some other resolutions.

On 16:10 resolution (1680x1050) wheel is squeezed - so this amazon hunt was first displayed as 838x244, then 838x219, then 838x196.

Each time I saved image from printscreen to wheel to see if it will change, and it did.

But on 16:9 resolution image did not change. For example on 1366x768, i did print screen saved the wheel and did prinscreen again and both times wheel was 612x160, so it was not squeezed vertically. But images were not binary same - maybe there was some transparency in image so background changed wheel a little.

All these widths are exactly 80% of the screen minus two pixels:

1080 * 0.8 = 864,   864 - 2 = 862

1050 * 0.8 = 840,   840 - 2 = 838

768 * 0.8 = 614.4,  614 - 2 = 612

Maybe the most important thing we didn't compare: i'm using FPLaunch 1.00 and you?

EDIT: Tested with 1.25wip9: still 924px.

And i made the font size in Windows a bit bigger, but not by changing the dpi.

FPLaunch is not important here since it is not launched yet.

Bigger font can be a problem - or some zoom in on desktop?

You said you have most of the wheels in 862 width, and only few are 924, is this still true? Do you see a pattern, what's the difference between 862 wheels and the others?

Sorry, i can't see a pattern. Just found one that's ca.908 px wide (no transparency on the sides). :hmm:
