Yeah, i believe that for the Europe, the panasonic you bought is the only affordable, readily available TV that fits a standard cabinet without decasing (the Sharp and westinghouse that are popular in the US are not available in europe.).   The Haier let39z18, which i have, is no longer available i believe.

So, there is no lag? it turns on when you restore the power? it automatically switches to hdmi?

It switches on automatically but goes straight to the smart hub, with the input on HDMI active, so for now i still need the remote.

I have read somewhere on some AVR forum that there supposedly is a Hotel firmware version where you would get full control.

Still have to look into that, as for lag, i see no difference between game and standard mode, it's just fluid like water.....

Thanks, unfortunately the whole setup has changed a bit, i still have to take pictures and post it here.

I changed the angle and depth of the lcd and completely altered the flasherboard.

Those changes implicated that the hinged system no longer was possible and yes the new way is NOT as handy  :(

But it looks and plays GREAT !

I am really interrested how deep the lcd is now, i am struggling myself with this right now. I think the real playfield was too deep, i want to have it a little higher.

So had to take the glass off to make somewhat decent pictures, i covered the sides with mirror plastic

so reflections galore ! As i said before i've changed the lcd's angle a bit due to the fact that i mostly

play pin sitting down, i am NO 18 anymore, standing up for hours is becoming a pain.  <_<

Luckily my Pana has great viewing angles so at the lockbar it sits 8 cm from the siderail to the lcd's bezel.

On the top side it's just 2.5 cm, the flasher caps DO touch the glass !

4xNlo6a.jpg

Now i have to confess something ........ i'm still putting off DOF, if i'm going to go that route i have to do it right and invest some

serious cash in contactors & some kit from Zeb, it's on my list next to having a real DMD.....this hobby is expensive !

So for the time being i have made a poor man's Ledwizz (sort of) that costs next to nothing and still works reasonably good.

I used some rgb led's i had left over from my juke, bought a Music led controller from China for a few bucks and made a new

flasher board (really quick and dirty) gotta love hotglue   i said quick and DIRTY  :spiteful:

a5rOxq2.jpg

StUhSYZ.jpg

I will post a video of it in action shortly.....

https://www.youtube....h?v=8_X-Fp89DpU

I have it on fading setting (you can adjust it via ir remote, works through the glass

(ir sensor is in the left flashercap), for less than €20 i think it's perfect for now.

DOF stands for Direct Output Framework, it's basically a method to bring more realism to the game.

It consists out of a software side where basic sounds like bumpers, slingshot etc are replaced with

REAL solenoids and other toys like gear motors, LED's for flashers etc. The software make's use of

the ledwizz configfiles so it's real easy to implement. On the hardware side you gonna want stuff like

zebs boosterboards or homebrew hardwareswitching and of course ledwizz's or arduino's.

You can realy go crazy with this stuff as there are soooo many cool toys to put in the cab

Well, another update since a Vpin is NEVER done......... :shutup1:

I was for the longest time setting some cash aside to buy me a real plasma DMD, but these things are a bit pricey considering there's

color dmd and soon complete graphics .....

It all "clicked" when i got a pile of discarded laptops with still functional lcd's, now you can't hook these up directly to your VGA as they are LVDS.

Lucky for me our Chinese friends came up with a low cost LVDS interface board perfect for re-purposing those screens as a DMD.

(As i've got several LG/Philips 15.4" lcd's i ordered this one http://www.ebay.com/...p-/271179240683

but you can get them with DVI and or HDMI as well, and for a REAL bargain price)

I must say it makes for one GREAT picture, it's vivid and very suitable for DMD use, best of all it only cost me €30,=

Pictures don't do it justice, it is real bright !

i tried a new 16:9, 14,1 inch laptop screen + chinese board,  was really cheap on ebay, but unfortunately viewing angles and brightness were not really good enough for a DMD screen.  (it does not help that i had it sitting next to a LED DMD).

Size wise this was ideal,

Yeah, brightness doesn't even come close to a real plasma or led dmd and viewing angles are bad as it's a TN panel.

But for a real cheap solution i'll take it any day  :dblthumb:  now i can go look for a scrap laptop with an ips lcd, that will

improve things greatly !

Still, i'm one happy camper !

Oww and i've played around with the SUPERB nvidia display settings, you can really beef up that picture  !

So almost a year further on the road, and the cab has been changed yet again

The thing that bothered me the most is that with every update "under the hood" the

whole playfield lcd had to come out, this was unfortunately the result for going the 1080p

route (the old 720p panel had a handy hinged frame which it sat on)

So with an afternoon of woodworking, measuring, cutting, re-measuring, more cutting and some beer's

i finally have a hinged playfield lcd......again..... yeah i know, i had to do that straight away.......

Gs3URER.jpg

8GWB5nT.jpg

Now with vpx around the corner i re-routed a sata and power lead to switch between ssd's, yes i have

two discrete ssd's for vp9X and vp10, i don't want to screw up my current installation with vpx testing.

Furthermore i had to disable the coinmeg and instead installed a nice looking insert coin button.

UPDATE:

Every year or so i do a re-shuffle with my various PC's, i normally upgrade my desktop and all hardware

trickles down to my other machine's whilst the slowest one get's donated to the thriftstore.

I also am no longer using my Racesim, just doesn't do it for me anymore (played it HARD and enjoyed it)

so that hardware is also put in the mix.......time to upgrade the Pincab PC.

Now i'm going completely nuts, pc wise that is, for absolute overkill i've installed a Haswell/R i5 4690K

combined with a GTX970 on a Asus ROG Gene7 board..... this thing is just stupendously fast.

I will be futureproof for years to come, still on win7, however this weekend i will have a go with win10,

i'm using 10 on my desktop and it works just great, curious how it run's on the pincab.

Great build!
I'm still deciding how to install my playfield. Your hinged version is super. But mine tv is not even at all sites. The bottom is 1 cm bigger then te top. Didn't you have that problem?
