Yesterday i played police force fullscreen table on my cab and was thinking omg the ball is so slow and feels like flying over the table how can i change these settings in vp or copy the settings from the highspeed2 table?
Today we have the a+ flipper settings / physics for most full screen tables posted.
When i return home i'll try them on a copy of the police force table and test the differance.

Anyway thanks for sharing your settings

just a reminder: i also added the global physics settings lately, just for this kind of stuff..

so set the physics up once (or for each hardware generation, etc), then simply select the physics set you want on a per flipper and/or playfield basis..

maybe you could add something that copies the settings of a table element to one of these sets in this global physics dialog?

(and also the other way round as a bonus?)

I'm sorry for a stupid question but I noticed the global physics a few nightly builds back. Tried scouring for more information but couldn't come up with any. What I did not get was whether it overrides any current table physics or if this is just a feature that, hopefully, will be supported by table creators (i.e. check for global phys, if exists -> load settings) ?

You can define your own physics settings like a template. Say you think a group of Williams or Gottlieb tables have to have special settings for flipper and table physics then you can define this with the global physics settings. Then the only thing you have to do is to set the 'Override Global Physics Set' to the set you previously defined.

Exactly.. And this setting you have to set for each flipper and/or the table itself..

(see changelog.txt in VP9.2.0 for more details)

An import/export option of these settings would be awesome.

this is now possible via the global physics options: import/export of each set..

then these sets can be selected in each table..

Where do you adjust the flipper settings at?

Thanks

AWESOME Toxie...have to check this out. I have the latest build, so i guess it is still in there! :D
GOOD WORK!!!! :D

Is it possible to have a checkbox so in the global physics menu, so that the imported setings always overrides the other settings...i mean, so that you choose the set in the global physics menu....and thats it!??!

I just started using this too, SUPER COOL! I copied Bad Cats settings (a personal fave) to several older tables... very nice!

Any recommended physics to use? I've been using LOTR 2.4 physics for nearly everything as it seems to be one of the only ones I can successfully backhand a ball close to real-life, also Elvis physics seem to work good as well for some tables. Those are my go-to's right now. Anyone else?

Yeah, what about some exported files (with the usecase they are targeted for) that are posted here, so anybody could simply import these?

Great idea! I would like to see some kind of a database where we collect flipper/table settings. A collection of settings for specific manufacturers (e.g. Williams 70's,80's, Gottlieb EM...)

This is a good idea, but don't forget to take into account that some tables using the ball momentum engine will not behave the same as tables using just the standard flipper settings for physics

Of course there is no golden way to just list some settings and use them and you're done. But it could help you to easily tweak a table instead of trial and error ;)

Attached File  flipperphx.jpg   131.35KB   13 downloadsHow do you export the flipper physics for an individual flipper?

I see in the global settings I can import or export flipper physics, but none of the sets that are in there are related to the current flipper physics.

For example. Take LOTR 2.4 FS

flipper speed is .25 and global speed is .15 in all 8 physics templates.

How do you extract the current physics in the table without manually typing in the values?

see attached

An import/export option of these settings would be awesome.

to export the full physics set of the current table, you have to have a recent 9.2.1 build, and then look into the physics options in the backdrop options of the table.

there you'll find import/export.  (it's only there, as the export includes both the flipper settings AND the table settings)

this can then be used to import again into the global physics options as a set (it overwrites the one that is currently selected).

or, of course, imported again within another table.

I've been playing with this on the vpm tables I've obsessively been rotating and its been great! It's not perfect but better (and I'm learning a lot)! Really curious about what/how others are tweaking

have you been rotating old tables that had decals, I have not figured out how to do those yet.

For many, the decals help the desktop perspective. Simply dragging them off (not deleting) reveals the playfield albeit often a little rough... some have no decals and some just don't rotate. All the bgs I've done have a table that works for better or worse. Sometimes you have to call the attendant ;)
