And the Toy Factory guy even said they aren't collidable.

Well they probably arn't but the whole point in the toy factory is just to use one to copy and replace with your own collidable model.

Hmm then what am I doing wrong? My rocket ship doesn't react with the ball at all. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I started the model using Blender then moved it to Milkshape...

My models are also not reacting correctly to textures, so clearly something is not right with them. They look perfectly normal, but then when I put a texture on them or try to make them work with the ball, it's like their just some weird ghost of an object. I need to first try to export my rocket as a peg and see if the ball collides then. I've successfully made a collidable model in the past though, so i'm not sure what the difference would be.

Do you use MilkShape? Is there something you do to ensure that the textures work properly and that the model is a physical object? I know you rely on FPM Editor by checking Per Polygon Collision or making a collision shape... but that doesn't seem to be working for me and I'm wondering if my problem is occurring earlier in the process--like in the construction phase of the model.

Otherwise I'm at a loss.

Probably blender not exporting properly. There was a plugin for doing that but I think it stopped working after a certain version, can't be sure because I don't use it.

I use Milkshape, simple but seems complicated in a way but it's ok once you get your head around it

Yeah I use that plugin and it's been giving me problems from the start. But I upload it to MilkShape before saving it, so I had hoped that would solve the problem. When I get home I'll try saving a simple MilkShape cylinder and seeing if I can get it to do what I want as a toy. If so I'll know it's Blender's fault.

But I can never get my MilkShape shapes to look right. The faces always seem to be wrong, even if I click Face to Front or whatever it is.

You've been very patient with me and I can't thank you enough for your help. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yeah that worked. Thanks so much! Now I just gotta figure out how to make a half-decent shape using MilkShape. *gulp* The textures work too!

I have accomplished 100% of what I wanted to do, and I owe it all to you. I can't thank you enough. Oh, and the Toy Factory guy. :D ;D :D

And the table is done! Here it is:

I couldn't have done it without your help! You can see the model I was working on in the lower left corner. It spins and takes off temporarily into space when you hit it XP

So I read that only Future Pinball developers can make original toys? Is that true?

Are all these recreations of old tables with fancy gadgets made by people who are outsourcing their toy creation to fancy developers? Or are they all making these toys themselves? Is it possible to model and code your own toys or does everyone rely on copying objects from pre-existing tables? And if they do rely on that, who makes the toys on those tables to begin with?

Please let me know how it works! Thanks!

going back to this first question
in VP we also can 'make toys'! Of course all of ours is done
manually by each of the people who built them.
From those half buried spin discs (i.e. Close Encounters EM)
to trains, guns, cannons, etc. that look like they move mechanically!
So don't think FP is the ONLY way to go for animated toys, yeah having pre-built ones is far easier
but VP has its own merits too (and I won't go into what is better in EACH program
as both fp and vp is good is each ones own way)
granted it is a royal pain to make and animate in vp but it IS possible
