I have a few questions. Can you say which vishey display will work the best with the new board or which one you would reccomend ( orange color). I remember reading about people having issues with certain displays with the first release of this board.

Also, my main reason for investing in this is to help cure my stutter problems. They arent very often but theyre there. I know stutter depends on a lot of different factors but have any of your previous customers reports increased frame rates using this methoad as opposed to a 3rd monitor. If it helps am running windows 7 with a gtx 460(playfield back glass) gts 250 (dmd) i5 2500k adn 4gb of ram ( soon to be 8gb). Thanks, very excited for this board. Im loving everyones demo videos ! Just when you thought a virtual pin cab couldnt get any cooler :D

there was a slight ghosting problem with the 0603 LED vishay DMD's but this has been resolved with the latest firmware update (slight timing issue on my part). as far as im aware all DMD's apart from Cherry Plasma works great.

i haven't checked recently but i don't think you can even buy the 0603 Display any more, if you can every one has hiked the price up so much its pointless buying it any way.

i would recommend the orange 8x8 matrix style displays that Noah has in store at virtuapin.net for a very reasonable price.

pinDMD removes the stutters because you are not using the third graphics card any more. pinMAME just makes somes usb write calls here and there to update the pinDMD all safely wrapped up in a separate thread :)

Noah just said the latest batch of DMD orders is hopefully only a couple weeks out, can't wait to have something to plug my first gen pinDMD into finally. ^_^

Cool ! Although I should of said I do use an LEDwiz, which seems to be simulatneously a god send and a thorn in my side when it comes to stutter. So even after adding a real DMD Im wondering if the LEDwiz would still introduce some stutter.

I've checked out the displays on Noahs site and the lead time ( not his fault) really sucks on these things :( . Actually 6-8 isnt as bad as say the 10 week lead time mouser has on them :o . I wonder if all the displays are spoken for...

im not 100% sure how the ledwiz works but from what iv read its the way its been coded in the vb scirpt that adds the stutters, if the code was moved to a threaded application there would be no stutters!

the pinDMD does not add any stutters at all!!! :) its completely threaded.

little update :)

firmware is now pretty much complete, it runs perfectly at 60fps / 16shades absolutely flicker free :)
just waiting for my prototype pcb's to turn up so i can get them sent off for assembly to make sure the new hardware is ok.

if all goes well hope to have a first batch of 100 by early jan next year :) hopefully sooner :)

How are you doing the distribution order. Will it be based on the order in which we registered on your site.
Id like to get in on the first run of boards.
Is snotz helping you with the .dll?

"it will all be ok in the end, if it's not ok, it's not the end"
