Now I actually dreamt about this Evil Dead table last night, which has prompted me to post...

Noah, I know you have a lot on, but I was wondering if you made a start on this one or is it still on the list? I've been tinkering in VP a bit more lately, more with gfx than anything else and was thinking I could contribute to part of this table. What would be needed:

- rebuild of table based on Hollywood Heat
- the above with new gfx using the images courtesy of drunkey kong (good work that man good.gif)
- script, as destruk's was a VP9 version (based on germax's VP8 script) could this be ported over? (with the relevant permission of course)
- custom sounds... destruk - is the custom table sound thing you mentioned simple to work on ?
- really jumping ahead here, but how cool would this be with a portalised B2S version?

All this requires a lot of input from drunkeykong so I hope he's still on the scene smile.gif

Anyway, I'm thinking out loud here but I would at least like to help get this underway.

Cheers drinks.gif

I haven't tried the custom sound commands with early gottlieb games before. I'm not sure if that would work. In any case, you could do what JPSalas did with quick draw - disable the rom sound completely and use vp to play wav files and/or mp3 files for target hits in the script with PlaySound.

Cheers destruk,

Is there a thread detailing how the custom sounds commands are applied?

I just had a look at JPs table and see what you mean. I think he used the command to basically replace 'hit' sounds with a sound effect. This will be ok for most triggers, I wonder if there is a way to select a random sound from a set.

The above is no good for the drop targets though as the ED table seems to call off sounds when a whole bank has been dropped, as opposed to each target.

Any of the stern whitestar II games (LOTR/Ripleys/Sopranos/Etc) should have the routine to play custom sounds. Basically using the controller.newsoundcommands method, you need a timer to periodically check for new sound numbers, and then play a sound from sound manager that matches the number, or the timer routine can use a lookup table that plays a named sound based on the number. This won't work with UVP.

Thanks. Will take a look, the playsound method might be simpler to implement.

I'm a total novice when it comes to scripting, but do you think it would be possible to 'playsound' only when a certain condition is satisfied - such as all three targets are dropped?
