or you can make ramps like i did here. each 'Lit' rail is actually a ramp made up to look like a lit top handrail of sorts for the ramps imo this way looks better than lights on the ramps

Sorry Faralos, but that sample you posted is nothing like I was talking about. Id prefer the ramps stay as they are, than look like your ones.
I was suggesting highlights to give the ramps a more plastic like appearance.

Thank you my friends for the suggestions. I like It.
WWW, Is the lighting highlights that you suggest like CFBL? If not, can you give me an example, please?
Greetings.

The glass looks real only because of the lighting reflections.
This was draw using Vray plugin. You can download the demo for 30 days.
Many people use the dowload Vray from piratebay, but that would be illegal and I dont reccomend it.

use the new vp9.1.1 it has an alpha slider that lets YOU choose how much like a real ramp yours look like! you must have 'hd rendering' checked though so i cannot use this feature but you may be able to with that slider function supposedly (again I have no way of seeing it on my computer) it lets you choose the actual transparency of the ramp so instead of the dithered look we get now they will look like real plastic ramps
also any lighting effect can be done with Gimp even on the playfield objects if the pf shot is loaded into gimp (or Photoshop) as an example two of my wips have a 'lens flare' on the Pf to simulate the glass reflection all done with Gimp in the lighting options
( I have a tutorial up here on how to use lighting with gimp for pf's and back glasses) to simulate (or make from scratch) light bulbs and their glows on the pf.s and reflected lighting on pf parts too including ramps and plastics if you want the light to shine there at all...

Very Cool! And very interesting! There's a lot of plugins in the web site. Each one for an especific effect if I understand correctly. I'll take a look...
Thanks, WWW!

Faralos 911 DOES NOT let you choose the transparency on ramps/plastics on just any old table. The plastics/ramps need to be made with ALPHA PNGS and as of now there is only 3 tables that do so.

Correct! Faralos is wrong. The slider has NO effect on older tables.

In VP, people spend many hours removing those reflections from the photos of the real tables to create a playfield image.... If you think about it, reflections only look right when they are at the correct angle, so if someone used these glass reflections on their images, the table would then only look right if it was created and played in those exact angles. The table wouldn't be angle independent, so the table couldn't be adjusted for different views.
You have to remember that VP is not a 3-D program like Future Pinball. FP will let you add object reflections to the glass, the table and some reflections on the ball. All of these extras look great, but the software just doesn't hold up to VP for me. I have tried FP 3 times, made a table with it each time, got excited each time for about a week, always ended up throwing FP in the recycle bin within a few months. Those are my facts, not arguments, not bitching, not feuding, just the way it was with me. If you have a decent pc, you might want to check out FP if you haven't already, there are some that swear by it.

I thought about it, even before Bob explain it above I was giving up this idea about reflections... first, because I'm a complete newbie in animation and this is just my first, I'd like to turn the table much more fun, beautiful and realistic, but I know my limitations. Some people like FS versions. And I'm doing everything possible to get it easy angle independent, with few things on the screen, just a display easy to rotate (the display idea was great, Bob. Many thanks!) And if Bob is saying, is enough for me. Please WWW, do not get me wrong WWW. I appreciate your and all the suggestions and would like to please everyone but It would be very complicated for me.
And FP for me... arghhh...
Sorry for my bad english.

It's all good guys.
Yes Bob I agree that artifacts like camera flash need to be removed, but a certain degree of highlighting isnt too directional, especially along the top edges of the ramps were they would look better if they were rounded. I like the way Scapino uses lighting on his tables. Personal opinion I guess.
Billy, as I said earlier, you have done an outstanding job. I take my hat of to you.

Thank you very much, WWW!
But my goal is not to compete with anyone... because I'm sure I'm going to lose badly...
I dont know if I can do, at least I will try...

Scapino pre renders his tables, so they cannot be changed by us, they are angle dependent. They are also what we call a decal or a reel table. Look at the backdrop in a Scapino table, it will be covered by many reels containing the table graphics, just for fun, try to change something on a Scapino table. He makes beautiful tables, but the system he uses is completely different than most of us. Most of us couldn't begin to make a table that way.

Bob,I like your avatar highlights, no matter what angle I look at it.
As for users changing another designers table, I would have thought you get what you get,and user adjustability was not high priority for the designer.
Oddly enough, I have never submited a table on here, so my opinion rates low.
That been said I am well aware of the software designer tools available and have used them all. I dont think True Space (Scapinos tool of choice) is too hard, even for a beginner the start learning.
One last thing, I'm not suggesting crazy directional shaddows or lighting. Just little highlights around the edges that draw out it's dept, and the material it is made out of.
PS I also take my hat off to you Bob

I agree with you on the shading, shadows, highlights and anything else to give depth or add to the realism, I'm just saying you are overestimating most of our abilities, when you say, "like Scapino does it".
Billy has done an amazing job for a first table, so he may be able to knock out some truly fantastic tables in the future if he doesn't get burned out. I would estimate he spent 500 or more hours on this table, trust me, that's enough to make anyone sick of looking at, let alone working on the same project.
Your opinion is just as important as any developer, probably more important if you are playing these tables. I love to see people comment on things like this, discussion always leads to better tables.... I miss the old Release Threads of Pacdude, now those were some good times.

Okay, had some fun playing with VP today and enjoyed this one a lot so I thought to give some more comments.
There is some clever stuff in this table. The theme is very well integrated in the table. I like the dropping sounds of the balls. The skill shot is great. Aiming between the flippers
Collecting the multiball is rewarding. Lights, animation and sounds are adding to reward feeling. IMO that is what pinball is about, having nice shots and getting rewards. It is always hard to put into words why you like one table more then another, but this one does a lot of things right.
For anyone who does like to play with 3 balls instead of 5: just go into the script, search for Ball = 5 and change it into Ball = 3. Pretty easy

Thank you very much for the comments TedB.
I feel very gratified that you enjoyed. I'm improving a few things for a new release soon ...
- I am adding an incredible display (Thanks to Wizards Hat & Bob). All movements will be indicated in the display and you will can choose the number of balls you want to play (Thanks Dan!).
- I am adding a new backdrop. Moogster66's Hint. Thank you!
- I will remove minor bugs.
- Then I have plans to improve the graphics to FS version. For those who like FS.
Thank you!

Big Thanks to my friend Hassanchop for this very nice dmd.
