Regarding the installation : everything in the same folder, which should be your VPinMame.

Regarding the video format, all the one supported by Windows Media Foundation (wmv, avi, mp4,...) + Gif are supported by FlexDMD. Note that wmv, mp4, avi are the container format. Then you have the codec format for audio and video (H264,...). To choose the most compatible, solution, I would use GIF like most original table authors do; this format is largely sufficient for something small like a DMD ; it is what Champion's league use and it has complex videos. If you really need another format, then you are likely doing something more complex and would benefit from a pinup solutionwhich is fully designed around playing videos, instead of a Ultra/FlexDMD.

Gif would be a pain kinda, ton of frames, and then have to sync the audio to it
wmv with H264 and ac3 seems to work ok, mp4 it barfed on, but i am suspecting a part of that is vpx beta, just being beta

Can you spawn more than 1 DMD window, from the same table?

Yea, i know, im full of stupid ideas ;)

Yes, you can spawn as many FlexDMD as you want. But keep in mind that Freezy DMD's virtual DMD is designed to only display one, so if you create more than one DMD, you should only have one with Show=True, the other being with Show=False (but Run=True) and using them inside VPX (there is an example script in the GitHub repo for Diablo). This can be usefull if you plan to have DMD displays on the playfield as well as the traditional DMD.

Hi @Outhere, sorry, I did not have time to look into it, I was busy with https://github.com/f...nsions/pull/249. Have a look, you may like it !

What I meant in my previous post was that with the latest release, FlexDMD should be really 100% compatible with UltraDMD tables, and the way it will work the best should be by just not modifying anything for these tables. For other tables (the one without any DMD) or PinballY, you still need to modify things to get everything.

Regarding the UI in Champion's League, in fact this UI is stored in a VPX file 'UltraDMD_Options.vbs'. So it will depend if you modified this file or not. Anyway, in all situation FlexDMD should work fine, since the configuration is done before creating the DMD. I will have a look when I get some free time.

Just making sure you were aware of it
The UltraDMD Tables being controled by FlexDMD 1.0 Appear to be working very well --- Thank you

Is it possible, in the table script, to give the option to not show the external flexDMD window, but retain the "in playfield" DMD displays?

i did look through this thread and tried to look over the API doc but did not really come up with anything

It seemed like perhaps virtualDMD false might be the thing, but if it is, not sure of proper way to call that in the table script

It is possible. All the informations are on the preliminary doc here: https://github.com/v.../FlexDMD_API.md

You will see that the FlexDMD object has a property 'Show' which is set to true by default but that can be set to false in which case all the rendering will happen but not displayed the virtual DMD. This is usefull if you want to create a DMD and render it on the table using embedded VPX DMD objects.

Does anyone have script they can share to get FLEXDMD on the Jaws or MOTU tables?

Thank you!  That, in combination with the scripts on the FlexDMD github helped me get all tables to work with FlexDMD.

What is strange is that I thought originally that I didn't need to change the scripts and FlexDMD just overrode UltraDMD...oh well, I guess I misremembered.

One issue I seem to be having is that using the FlexUI.exe I can't seem to change the Full Render color scheme.  That is, I'd like to select something that doesn't give orange as the primary color (I still see other colors, like white, blue, etc.) but selecting that in the list under Full Color Render and then exiting out of FlexUI (which might take around 20 seconds, but no error) doesn't change it.  I'm running Windows 10 64-bit but using 32 bit Ultra, Freezy, VPX.

Thanks in advance!!

For the UltraDMD tables being controlled by FlexDMD

In order to change the full color and color of the text per game
Make sure you search the scrip that something is not already in there because some of the games do
In the table script Add this below  -- Randomize

See this file for a list of colors In the scripts Folder ---  UltraDMD_Options.vbs

'---------- UltraDMD Unique Table Color preference -------------
Dim DMDColor, DMDColorSelect, UseFullColor
Dim DMDPosition, DMDPosX, DMDPosY, DMDSize, DMDWidth, DMDHeight

UseFullColor = "True" '                           "True" / "False"
DMDColorSelect = "blue"            ' Rightclick on UDMD window to get full list of colours
'
'
GetDMDColor
Sub GetDMDColor
Dim WshShell,filecheck,directory
Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

WshShell.RegWrite "HKCU\Software\UltraDMD\fullcolor",UseFullColor,"REG_SZ"
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCU\Software\UltraDMD\color",DMDColorSelect,"REG_SZ"
End Sub

Hi, I have just set this up and it is all working great, thank you very much vbousquet !!

I am still fairly new to this but did come across a problem that took me a while to figure out. My UltraDMD was installed in my visual pinball folder inside xdmd (I dont know why, I must have followed a tutorial that told me to put it there instead of in the vpinmame folder). So when I ran flexdmdui it would not register because it was looking for the dmd.ini file in the vpinmame folder. To get it to all work correctly I renamed the folder c: visual pinball/XDMD to c: visual pinballx/oldXDMD just in case I needed it if it all went wrong. Then I installed the recent ultradmd update v3.08 from Tspeirs to the vpinmame folder( I used c: visual pinball/vpinmame as the install path and it created an ultradmd folder by itself as it installed). I then downloaded the latest version of flex dmd V1.5.0 and copied all the files into my vpinmame folder apart from the scripts. I ran the flexdmdui.exe file and registered flexdmd and ultradmd to be used as a repacement for ultradmd. Then I copied the script files for the tables I have into the tables folder after checking they matched the table names exactly. Just for information I am currently using pinballX version 4.32 as my front end. I thought whilst I'm messing about I'd update to the latest version of pinballx V4.62. Fortunately I made a full backup first because after updating I started getting errors on any table with an ultradmd, mainly activex being unable to create object flexdmd. I have reverted to my backup harddive with V4.32 and all is working well again. Hope this helps somebody along the way, its definately worth updating to flexdmd.

With flexDMD, you dont have to mess with the XDMD folder (That is where my ultraDMD is installed as well)
You take Freezy's DMD ini and dll files, and you put those in the vpinmame folder along with FlexDMD

And then you can choose whether or not to have flexDMD take over for ultraDMD, or just let UltraDMD handle it's own stuff.

I left the XDMD folder entirely to it's own devices

Thanks, but I tried this in WOZ and the text color is still orange.  I added the FlexDMD code right above ULTRADMD.init, so the table works.  The UltraDMD color is set to "Blue".  Maybe you can provide me with a .vbs for WOZ that I can review to see what I may need to revise?

You should not have to add FlexDMD to the game
