I played some other person's Unity pinball recreations of fish tales and there was a lot of lag, and so I was curious if that would happen here.

Yeah that was probably Shaderbyte's recreation. He did a bunch of tables. I've played them too and while they look fantastic I agree that the flipper lag is terrible. The main problem was that the flippers in his recreations were entirely driven by VPM, and the comm between Unity and VPM wasn't too good. We can address this in a bunch of ways, so I wouldn't worry about it too much now.

 Strange, i test it, and it work very prefect for me! No flipper lag. So render in Unity is woaaah!!! The day when VPE will be released, it will be the best day of the year loool

Shaderbytes tables looks almost like Williams Volume in Pinball FX3 but physics and ball behaviour were awful.I played on highest settings,performance was much better than most of the tables in VP.

Nice tutorial on Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline for those who are interested.

38:22 is the most exciting part of the demo video, for me. The speaker demonstrates increasing light intensity on a street lamp model. The quality of the lighting is really pleasing: incandescent, warm and organic looking. Fun to imagine as a pinbulb illuminating table.

Is it safe to assume your upcoming project will use HDRP, freezy? Which feature(s) are you most excited about?

I must admit I haven't played much around with it since I've started working on physics. In the very first post, the flasher demo is using HDRP (and the RTX demo too, obviously). Right now we're working with the built-in renderer which is easier to set up, but yes, the goal is to switch to HDRP eventually. The beauty of VPE being a package (rather than a project) is that we can actually pivot quite easily without having to deal with all the problems that usually come with project upgrades.

So glad you’re placing high priority on physics. That’s the whole game! :D

A very exciting project, thank you very much for your efforts! I wanted to see how it looks like with HDRP/DXR, lights and most postprocessing tweaks still missing, but I'm already impressed, this is inside Unity:

If Unity implements something similar, maybe I replace my VR headset with a Cab one day:

BAM is pretty cool, but thing seems to have close to 0 latency.

BAM actually works well with headtracking using Kinect V2.... but the problem is our eyes. When you close one eye, BAM looks amazing (full 3D depth,etc)! With two eyes, they are trying to converge a mono image and it messes up the effect. Using BAM with a 3D TV works really nice...but that is long gone.

I wonder if that tech has a similar issue with convergence.

@blindpeser

Since discovering VR, I've kicked my cab to the curb..VR has been the best pinball experience I've ever had, besides playing on a real machine. :-)
Peace,
Lynny

@blindpeser

Since discovering VR, I've kicked my cab to the curb..VR has been the best pinball experience I've ever had, besides playing on a real machine. :-)

I get the best of both. I use my cabinet for SSF and DOF feedback, while also being able to play my PinEvent mods in VR and VPVR.

I do still love my cabinet most of the time...but its really cool seeing all my PuP creations work in VR as well....and having a multiscreen cabinet is ideal for being able to do that with the best quality possible.
