Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to go ahead and order, I gave it some thought - I will fill the hole and drill another one, a fit for Williams-style plunger. Especially because you are going to have a surplus, this changes things for me big time.

Going into the 8 weeks of waiting , still says PRE-ORDER status as it did 8 weeks ago. Emailed with questions because it was a bday gift and about the new "ir component" problem, if he looked into it for the new batch, and no responds..

I'm doing everything I can, as I am still a bit dependent on the former manufacturer for two components. He says he'll have them by 'X' date, and still I wait.

I have ordered enough components to have surplus in stock once the components we have now are assembled and tested. I expect to have kits tomorrow to test, pack, and ship.

I have a quick question, how are people using the other button wires? I don't know how long they are but they look very small like they won't reach flipper and other buttons. Are people that are not using an ipac connecting longer wires to the ends? I am planning to do a basic 2 screen desktop mini pin with a 27 inch monitor pf, virtuapin plunger kit and the virtuapin button pack (and don't want to get an ipac so I can keep the costs down). Any advice is appreciated

I expect most people would run them to a terminal strip adjacent to the box.

Thanks for the info, I know very little about electrical wiring. that seems reasonable so I guess I just buy wires to go out from the strip or block to the buttons then.

Yes.  It will make it easier to replace components if necessary - no butt spices or solder joints to remove.

My analog nudge/plunger kit started acting strange.  Tables are now so slanted its like I added 3 inches to my back legs.  Very strange as I had no trouble for last month.  Any ideas?   It might not have anything to do with the plunger, I just unplugged it and table still exhibits this behavior.  Its like a global slope setting got changed, but I'm not aware of anything like this.

Are you saying it behaves the same way with, or without, the plunger attached?

After a lengthy discussion with the developer, we tend to agree this sounds more like a software issue than hardware. If changing tables 'corrects' the problem, then it wouldn't be a hardware issue at all.

Please test this against the windows calibration screen. If the feedback is consistent in that screen, then the plunger is working as intended.

You should be able to have the screen open in the background and Alt-Tab to it when this behavior begins.

Please let me know your findings.

Hi Noah,

I have to disagree.
It doesn't change its behavior by only changing the table.
For one session it keeps continuesly decreasing.
It only resets if yuo unplug the device or restart the entire cab.

That's my experience.

I have tested this device very intensivly over the last weeks and I wasn't too sure everything was set up properly from my end(first begin to search for errors on your own end), but more and more i come to the conclusion there is more wrong with it, unless I haven't any other serious issue with my cab I haven't identified yet.
This weekend I discovered the ball tends to go to the right all the time while nudging, even when nudged left. BTW all settings in VP beside gain doesn't seem to have any effect on the behavior of the ball. Incorrectly I advised before to enable reverse axis, but I now found out it doesn't have any effect. The ball is going to the right in all cases.
I'm currently preparing a video to proof.
Strange thing is, if I unmount the box from the chassis and move it a few centimeters to the left or to the right it behaves as expected. For it looks like a spring effect that forces the right direction, but only when nudging left. Right nudging behaves as expected.

For myself I don't think this thread is the right one to discuss further issues reported, because other people are seeking for info about their shipments.
Shouldn't we start any other thread for this matter?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to blame anybody, just try to sort out things. If they are on my end it's even easier

I definitely want to get to the root of the issue, but when told it 'corrects itself' when changing tables, it sounded like a software issue.

 

I've sent a new plunger tube to Teppo to see if it resolves his issue. I didn't want to send out a number of them without first confirming that's the issue.

 

Once I hear back, I'll move forward in resolving the kits having the same issue.

 

I have heard of one other member who had the issue of only nudging in one direction, and, oddly, the solution was to mount it slightly angled. Since it'll calibrate itself on startup, it won't lean, but will improve the bi-directional nudge capability.

 

We'll happily take care of any issues we find are on our end, but I can't reproduce any of these situations, no matter how long I leave a table running.

Mounting the box on an angle did help some-what with the spring-back effect I was experiencing, but the problem is still there, just not as pronounced. After spending countless hours trying to get it to work consistently I gave up. I'm now using plumb bobs for nudging instead.

Looking forward to receiving the replacement tube and I will test it as soon as possible. However if I don't receive it before Friday it's going to take some time as I'm heading on a holiday for 10 days (and no VP in sight )

 

But I can confirm from my tests that

1) It's not VP related and definitely not table related. The same problem exist even if I just leave the windows calibration screen open. In 10-15 min the Z-axis doesn't pull back fully anymore

2) It's not tied to one computer. The same problem happened with my laptop. Both have Win7 64-bit so I can't rule out OS related issues but I don't think that's very likely.

 

So I assume that the calibration issue is on HW side and I was one of the few unlucky ones to get a problematic unit. I really hope that the new tube fixes the problem.

 

I have no issues with the nudge and it's working very well right now (after I found good gain settings for my cab)

Yeah, that knife is something else.  He should pop in an old Nanotech plunger back in the box, tape it up then use that knife and open it up again. Then, he can say "I carved a %^%&* turkey today!"
