Hi Grozby,

The boards are all tested and functioning before shipping so it has to be something fairly straightforward.

Lets start with the power supply and work our way forward.

The power switch on the power supply is turned on correct? If it is, remove the atx power plug from the board and jump the green wire in the middle of the plug to any black wire on the plug, the power supply should start up.

Try this and let me know the results.

As for connecting the shaker motor....

Attached File  Shaker Assembly.png   33.5KB   65 downloads

the molex plug gets connected to the power supply. This gives you the 12v and ground needed for the speed control and the 12v for the gear motor. The remaining 2 wires are the (-) trigger wires for the shaker and gear motor.

The one with the tape on it labeled shkr (-) goes to the shaker motor (-) terminal on the board and the other goes to the gear motor (-) terminal on the board.

Edit:

I see the issue......

The upper board can now just be connected straight to the power supply, you don't need to jump from the bottoom plate to the top plate with the new molex connector. If you choose to do it that way, you need to wire it like this...

Attached File  Molex Pwr Rev 3.8.png   10.21KB   205 downloads

You need to rewire the power plug at the bottom as your trying to feed 5v straight to ground and 12v into the 3.3v line

Read a little further down, I edited my answer as I saw what the problem is. You need to rewire the power plug on the bottom connector.....:)

General Post: I've updated the instructions to accommodate the latest revision to the boards. Any installations from here on should use this set of instructions.

@Zebulon,

Just wanted to say thank you for a great product after using about 30 meters of wire in my cabinet (Retro High Speed Build) I plugged in the wires in your booster board and connected the led bar. Everything worked right away.

Enjoy your vacation.

@Zebulon,

Have a nice holiday ...

when you'll return at home, i'll need help ... i think i've had a big problem with my tests ...

By mistake i've connected 2 contactors 24V AC to the FR and FL on the ZEB board ...when i turn on and i begin the game ... i've pressed the flipper right and chtak !!! ... blue smoke on the board (see the picture here : proble10.jpg)!!! aie aie aie ... i've turn off all immediatly and disconnect the contactors !!!

After that I made a test again without contactors !!! all seems to be in order (leds on boards are on, gear motor and shaker are ok, the 5 RGB led ok) but since i think that the little heatsink is very very hot !!! (didn't noticed that before!) ... is it normal or not ?

I will receive 7 new siemens 12V DC contactors the next week ... do you think i'll could wiring them without risk ??? or is the contactors zone dead and i'll must change the complete upboard or only one composant ????

Thanks for your analyse !

Ouch Grozby. If you are any good with a soldering iron, hold off until Zeb gets back and he will tell you what the part number is. Should be a straight and easy swap out.

OOPS..... the AC contactors were a bit much for the design I'm afraid.

If the regulator is getting hot, you should replace it. It's an LM338T 1.2-32v positive regulator. You should also change the 128ohm resistor (blue resistor beside it) and that will repair the regulator circuit for the contactors.

Sounds like you smoked the optocouplers. You can just pop them out and replace them with Vishay CNY74-4.

You will want to check the output voltage of the amplifier before you bother changing any parts as it may have taken a hit as well. It should range from 12-32vdc on a 12v input.

Tough to say Grozby, you need to figure out which side is positive and which is negative.

You can use a 1.5v AA battery and a 100 -200 ohm resistor to test it. Once you know which side is the positive side, you can solder all the pads on that side together to make one big (+) pad and connect the positive voltage there. The R G and B wires then get soldered to the individual pads on the opposite side.

Sorry Vulbas, missed your post. The site should be up in a couple of days, just making sure I have the prices right and that the shipping calculator is working correctly. If you'd like,  send me a pm and I can take your order the "old-school" way...:)

Thanks
