Usually I make an arc with a ramp to curve the trajectory of the ball

and prevent it from colliding with the glass.

Yes, but you can take the glass out of the way

ball may very well fly out, depending on things, but you can do that if you need to

Air-balls can get out of the table, like when a ball gets a lot of speed and it hits a ramp, then it may fly away and fall out of the table, but that's an uncontrolled air-ball. Or like when I added some vertical ball movement after the ball hits a target, then also the ball may get out of the table or jump into an object and get trapped. But we are talking of a well behaved ball, like on a ramp that extends outside the table, and the ball will hit the wall and it will simply move back down the ramp. That's the kind of collision that should be nice to be able to turn off when needed.

You can do that
Just dont put the default glass on the table

Make your own, either from Prim or you could use walls, since no one can see it, doesnt matter how pretty it looks i guess
Sent your ramp up through the hole in the glass and have it do what ever you like from there.

You can also make the glass very high, so you can have higher ramps, like I did in Gargamel Park, what we are talking about are the side and back walls, so tables like these images of Necronomicon can be made:

When I was trying to make those Necronomicon tables I saw the ball hitting the side walls. But I didn't have enough resources to make them anyway :) But the good thing is that from those designs came the Diablo table :)

I know you can make the table much wider, so the ramps will fit in the table, but still it should be nice to be able to make the side and back walls non collidable so the ball can flow on those ramps. Many tables has the ramp going back and just now we need to make the playfield table and the table itself much higher so we can made the ramps at the top. Stern does this on many tables, like Iron Man or The Walking Dead. If the back wall was non collidable then we could have a normal size playfield and image, and the tables could have been easier to make :)

I will have to go find the stupid table i was playing with if i didnt delete it
cause i know i was launching balls out of the table into cups and stuff and ramping them out the back of the table
Losing a lot of them too but

now i will have to go see what exactly i was doing.

i guess you could just remove the built in glass?
i mean it really as no advantage over putting in your own?

Yes, air-balls can go out of the table, but then they are lost :) But that's a bug, not a feature :)

erm, we arent on the same page here

they were only lost, cause i didnt feel like mouse driving them back in
the balls were off rolling about outside the play area, i just didnt make any way to retrieve them

i will have to see if i kept the stupid table

So just to clarify:

2 options are enough?

 1.glass collidable on/off

 2.sides collidable on/off

oh, and btw, JP: I loooove the Necronomicon tables, what a cool engine they already had back then

Yes, I guess those options should be good. And I guess kiwi means the same :)

Glass:
   Collision: On / OFF
   Is Breakable  ON / OFF

Ok no, but someone will probably ask

Oh JP
the table, it just has big dimensions
no issues doing the playfield art though
Doesnt matter though as the table itself is just a stupid conglomeration of junk

It would be fine for me to have 4 separate options for the sides, left and right, top and bottom collidable on/off.

Greetings,

I recently freshly installed Windows 10 and used baller installer to get up and running on my new PC.

However, for the first time (this is my 3rd rig) I'm experiencing this problem where VPX won't always launch into the UI the first time.
Never takes more than 3x but then I see it running multiple times in task manager.

This of course stalls out Popper when selecting tables and this happens.

I"ve tried 3 times over the last 2 days to wipe and reinstall Windows 10 and baller.

Please help Obi Wons.

I'm losing my mind over here and just want to play some pinball.

Cheers and blessings.

Not using front end

I've not had that happen with 10.7.0 but I'm having that issue or something similar with the 10.7.1 release for a while including the latest r222

I guess my 1st question is
Does it happen if installed from the normal vpx installer
and trying to launch tables, with just vpx, no front end?

@darlimj : That thing happens over here on my new 12th gen Intel / 3080 / Win10 - have not seen it happen on Win7. Been reported as a bug; so, lets hope they figure out why this happens. I'm guessing now, but, to me it seems to happen more often right after a clean boot-up ( first time loading vpx ).

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Well late last night I reinstalled Windows 10 again.

Ran baller again.

Updated VPmame and VPX to the latest version.

It seemed stable last night.  :D

Hoping it's still solid tonight.

I have some feelings and theories as to why this was happening but who knows.

So far so good.
