Hi mjr,

First, i want to thank you for your great work.

I just want to confirm the issue of Marioforever. I have exactly the same issue when i click on Settings with build 2132 from 2017-02-09.

And also, the tool is working fine with the old Configure.html from 2016-05-05.

Perhaps, is it possible to download a version from january 2017 of Configure.html ?

I just posted an update for the config tool that hopefully will fix the Settings page errors several people have reported.  If you've run into the errors, try updating and see if it fixes it for you.

When you run into errors of this sort, generally the most helpful thing is to write down or screen-shot the VERY FIRST error box you see and send that to me.  Any subsequent errors are usually side effects of the first error, so the secondary errors don't tell us much about what happened.  If you see one of those boxes with the "keep running scripts - yes/no" options, it's usually misleading, because things are usually pretty hosed at that point and you'll just get more errors if you try to keep going.  So if you see one of those, in most cases the tool "crashed" even if it didn't actually close itself down; the best thing to do is let me know about it so I can fix the underlying problem in the code.

Silly question alert:

I ordered the parts specified on the Pinscape website for the KL25Z button wiring. My question is how does the vertical 8+8 pin thing connect securely to the KL25Z. I can see where the shorter ends fit right into the tiny holes on the controller, but it's loose and I assumed it would just be a snug fit?

I assume you're talking about the pin headers, like these:

pinheader.png

Those are designed to be soldered to the KL25Z.  I'm afraid I don't know of any snap-in connectors you could substitute; the little holes on the KL25Z are specifically designed for soldering in this kind of connector.

The wires to the buttons won't have to be soldered to the pins, by the way.  The pin header is designed to mate with a matching socket called a "wire housing".  You connect the wires to the housing and then just plug the socket into the pin header, so you can easily connect and disconnect it at any time.

Actually I saw a good video on how to crimp the wire to the wire housing and how that connects. It was the pin piece that was confusing me. So do i solder from the bottom? And every pin or just 1 or 2 to hold it in place?

EDIT: Here is a video for future reference on how to solder the pins to the board.

You should solder every pin - you won't get a reliable connection without solder.  Unsoldered pins might appear to be connected, and might even test as connected, but they'll be flaky at best.

If you're planning to use the expansion boards, you'll want to have the pins facing out from the bottom of the KL25Z, so you'd solder on the top side of the board.  If it'll be a stand-alone KL25Z without the expansion boards, you can go either way, but it's probably most convenient to have the pins facing out from the top of the KL25Z, so the solder goes on the bottom.  Whichever side you install the pins on, solder on the opposite side where the pins are poking through the holes.  (I guess "top" is a little ambiguous with this board.  I consider the top to be the side with the reset button and the USB connectors.)

EDIT: Here is a video for future reference on how to solder the pins to the board.

That looks like a good tutorial.

The video came in very handy and I was able to solder all the pin connectors to the boar in about 10 minutes. Much appreciated mjr - I'm amazed at how accessible you are in replying.

Hello MJR.

I'm back !

I just want disable accelerometer in my second and third KL25Z.

One more thing, about, can you tell me if I have a problem with my PCV2, or if it's normal functionaly ?

I have 3 KL25Z in my pincab. All arre good, DOF ok, pinscape Controller V2 ok, all toys run with 3 kl25Z in game, without problem. (VPX 10.2 VP9). Windows 7. Last update Pinscape Controller V2.

But in pinscape controller V2, when I want to disable the "nudge" "joystick" for my second or third Kl25z, she become invisible !!!

I just want to disable accelerometer in my second or third kl25z.

Before :

sup_jo10.jpg

I turn off "enable joystick input" .
I clic on "Programm KL25z"
sup_jo11.png

Program ok, but the kl25z :

After :

sup_jo10.png

And Windows 7 don't see the kl25z, the only solution to re-view my kl25z is : "SET UP A NEW KL25Z" and backup my backup !!!

I want do this, because 3 nudge about 3 KL25Z, some times do  problem on table in VPX...

Many thank's.

I don't know if I understand the "enable joystick input" in PCV2.

Can you tell me if it's an error I do, or an error on my PCV2 ?

Many thank's to you ! :love39:

This looks like it must be a bug in the config tool.  The USB interface changes when joystick mode is turned off, so I must have screwed something up in the device detection in that case.  I'll take a look and see if I can find the problem.

It was indeed a bug.  I just fixed it and uploaded a new version to the usual place (mjrnet.org/pinscape/downloads/PinscapeConfigTool.zip), and of course if you have automatic update checking turned on in the config tool, it should notice and update itself automatically the next time you run.

Give it a try and let me know if it fixes it for you.

Hi - I'm afraid I'm not sure what you're asking.  Could you give me some more detail?

Getting started with planning wiring. I got the expansion boards but since have decided to do a standalone KL25Z with CCD sensor to start, then add more features later. FBut can't find clear info on whether LED buttons for "start, reset, etc" can be directly wired to the KL25Z (and lights powered from the USB) or do they need an additional power source for the LEDs, or need in line fuses, etc.

(I'm not planning feedback devices any more, instead relying on Rusty's Poor Man's DOF setup.)

Thanks for guidance.

I'm afraid that you do need some kind of power boosting for the button lights.  The KL25Z pins are extremely limited - the maximum they can handle is 4mA, basically enough to turn on a transistor or a very small LED (dimly).  Be careful not to attach anything anything that draws more power directly to a KL25Z pin, since running more power through a pin can damage the whole board.

The Darlington + MOSFET output driver circuit in the v1 Build Guide is a good general-purpose driver for just about anything, from LEDs to motors and solenoids.

For a few LEDs, you could also get a couple of those 3-channel RGB light strip amplifiers.  That would be less work to put together and would be quite cheap.  I think those need an active-low trigger, so you'll want to go into the config tool and configure those outputs as "active low" in the port list.

Well, you've convinced me to do at least the main board now. So the "small LED" pins will power my lighted buttons?
