I was under the impression ultraDMD sat on top of the xdmd framework? so it should just work? I will be adding full colour to xdmd (should have 16shade support at moment) shorty as lucky1 pointed out the best place to "hack in" to it. I will make sure ultraDMD is working as well.

Great product Russ!  Still new to the VP world, but I was able to get this up and running in my still WIP cabinet with little trouble.  Only issue was the Windows 10 unsigned driver thing but I was able to figure it out eventually.  This certainly makes the cabinet feel like the real deal!

Hi Russ,

Thanks so much for producing this great product. I've had it for a few days now and love it!

Regarding UltraDMD and XDMD, I have not yet been able to make these work on a new fresh install of Windows 7 64bit. I was easily able to get the PinDMD3 working with Pinmame and the games play and display beautifully. I have had no such luck with PinballX and UltraDMD. I feel like XDMD may not be installed correctly or is missing some underlying software dependency. I have freshly installed PinballX and UltraDMD and if they are just supposed to work, they are not for me :(

Any idea what I may have missed? XDMD is not real clear what steps need to be taken to successfully install it but when I run the XDMDdemo executable I do see a video on my LCD playfield monitor but nothing happens on the PinDMD display. Same thing with UltraDMD it will show on the LCD monitor but not on the DMD.

Any push in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks!

AL

Me and tom had 16 shades running but that was with us passing files between us in a pm thread lol. Prob best for me to download all the official release files and try it my self from a user point of view :) see if anything is missing. I will have a little play tomorrow.

Could you link me to where you are downloading all your files from?

Not sure what I did wrong.....followed the instructions in the setup guide....opened VPinMAME's Setup.exe and clicked "Install".

I get a nice little error saying The 'vpinmame.dll' file can't be loaded.

Error 0x0000007e: The specified module could not be found.

Be sure to have this file in the current directory!

Any ideas where I screwed up?

I swapped the VPinMAME.dll to the official release. I need to update the install guide to mention to download the other needed .dlls :)

Let me know if downloading the Bass.dll from http://www.pindmd.co...ads-v3/pinmame/ sorts your error (should do as your getting a module load fail code)

I assume the bass.dll goes in the same folder as the other two?

Been away awhile. This is an awesome turn of events Russ! After the money spent on the Vishay years ago though I just can't bring myself to step up to this lol. Maybe someday or PinDMD4. :)

Are these new displays being created by a new company? Guess I'm curious if there was a large enough market to mass produce?

Hey Zablon

Yeah I know i would never make a pinDMD3 and said pinDMD2 could do every thing..... (forgot about colour lolol)

The DMD panels are actually made for big advertising boards and used in stage tv screen back drops etc.. there is HUGE demand and hundreds of suppliers for them so no worries there :)

Yeah Im the same have a big collection of old plasma/led pinball dmds I never use. (vishay one was nearly £300!!!) lol

Regarding xdmd

the pinDMD stuff does not seem to be in the latest release (that I can find)

If you replace these files in your xdmd install folder

http://www.pindmd.co...nloads-v3/xdmd/

and add this file

http://www.pindmd.co...tion/pinDMD.dll

xpinball / xdmd should now be pinDMD3 enabled. (16 shades only at the moment)

I will look into UltraDMD shortly (have never used before)

Let me know how that goes

Rocketman did the Bass.dll sort your install problem? (i have reworded the installation document to mention this .dll)

Russell Pirie

Thanks, Russ!  My UltraDMD is now fully functional.  Your support for this product is exceptional.  I appreciate it very much and look forward to the coming advances.

Having a little trouble installing my PinDMD3.  Do I have to do anything special to "uninstall" my old pinDMD2 or can I just unplug it, reboot and start installation of PinDMD3 on windows 10x64?

No pinDMD3 uses totally different drivers to pinDMD2 nothing will clash. Which part is going wrong? (windows 10 is a bit of pain for usb drivers)

Just remove the pinDMD2

Then follow the pinDMD3 instructions (pretty much same as pinDMD2 but with different usb drivers)

I need to finish off the windows 10 driver install section i did not releaise so many people was using windows 10 in there cabs! thought most would stick with win xp/7 lol

I can't even get my usb keyboard to work after resetting to advanced options, I have it plugged into a usb hub.  Tried usb 3 extension cable, no go.  Sucks getting to the inside of my cab for things like this.

I assume as soon as I hit 7 or F7 it should do something in that special menu?

Yeah pressing either 7 or f7 should restart the pc. Can you plug your keyboard directly into the pc for this step?

I can hear windows detect the plugging in of the PinDMD3, I see the PinDMD.com logo on it, but when I dbl click on the dpinst-x64.exe, I get a windows popup and says VirtualPin (usbser) Ports... Not needed (no device for update present).  any ideas?
