Set up a separate system and database for Future Pinball tables without a DMD. The difference is that in the settings for this system you would simply not add FutureDMD to execute in the Launch Before fields.

Hmmm... that's almost too simple to believe Carny... that would actually work rather easy. Just create a "no-DMD" Future Pinball "system" in Pinball X and just not have it load Future DMD, and then just add only the FP tables that have no DMD to that system. 2nd time you saved me a lot of work!

Then I can just use a standard template DMD picture/video for the DMD space in my backglass (3rd monitor) for those specific tables using Pinball X. The "extended backglass" that shows videos, etc... is where I relocate scoreboards or other extras and my own overlays that won't fit into the 16x9 2nd screen which is the top part of the backglass. I like this much better than squishing the backglass to fit in a 16x9 ratio screen, it just means I have to edit the tables a bit, but its worth it and I can do some cool and neat looking things with this. I figured....why waste all this usable space on the 3rd screen.

I was also considering doing something like you suggested Gimli, but that would come later as I'm dealing with both Pinball AND Arcade games that need Artwork to fill in 3 screens....and I'm trying to find the quick and easy right now... but your idea has my brain thinking as well.

Thanks to both of you.

Lol... now I'm trying to see if I can do the opposite....   have Future DMD always running in Pinball X so I can make use of its plug-in to show the stats or whatever else. I didn't realise FutureDMD can display stats,etc on ANYTHING ran through Pinball X (I thought it would only show up for FP tables).

So now I want to have FutureDMD always running in Pinball X, but have it close when I want to run FP tables without DMD, The Pinball Arcade, MAME, and PC games... and then re-open FutureDMD when exiting back to Pinball X. I want to be able to show what I want with Pinball X in that space when these are run.

Any idea on how to have Pinball X close FutureDMD when launching MAME games, but open again when exiting MAME for example?

Update:

I got it working now... just had to make some .bat files to do some magic on startup and exit of each system and of pinball x itself.... though I do find that FutureDMD causes like a 5 sec delay going back to Pinball X when it is re-opened no matter what I do...  any ideas?

Hi guys.  I'm having a time getting this going in my system.  I'm running a lot of visual pinball tables and no Future Pinball tables.  If I just try to start futureDMD it doesn't look like anything happens.  No window comes up anywhere and the only place I see it is the task manager.  I read the PDF  but I'm a little confused where I put the lines.  I put them in the FuturePinball section but I don't know if I need it to start up before pinballX.  Also, do I need to disable the DMD inside of PinballX?

Ok.  It's running when I start PinballX. However, not getting anything on the display.  What needs to be in the plugins folder?

Right now I have a folder for:

C:\FutureDMD

C:\PinballX\Plugins\

I put the FutureDMDStats.dll inthe plugins folder but I still don't have anything.  Any suggestions?

Did you do this

Run the PluginManager.exe in the PinballX folder. Put a checkmark on “FutureDMD PinballX Stats”, exit and
run PinballX!

Yes I have enabled it, and I see the DMD there but there is nothing on it.  Here's the bit from the Pinballx.ini that I have it in:

[FuturePinball]
Enabled=False
WorkingPath=h:\-PINBALL-\-FUTURE PINBALL-
TablePath=h:\-PINBALL-\-FUTURE PINBALL-\Tables
Executable=Future Pinball.exe
Parameters=/open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exit /arcaderender
LaunchBeforeEnabled=true
LaunchBeforeWorkingPath=C:\FUTUREDMD
LaunchBeforeExecutable=FutureDMD.exe
LaunchBeforeParameters=table="[TABLEFILE]"
LaunchBeforeHideWindow=False
LaunchBeforeWaitForExit=True
LaunchAfterEnabled=False
LaunchAfterWorkingPath=
LaunchAfterExecutable=notepad.exe
LaunchAfterHideWindow=False
LaunchAfterWaitForExit=True
MouseClickFocus=True

Here is the config for futureDMD.ini that is in C:\FutureDMD:

[default]
red=245
green=100
blue=50
highscore_1_1=" is #1|"
highscore_1_2=" Rules|"
highscore_1_3="HIGH SCORE|"
highscore_1_3_2=" "
highscore_1_4="Can you beat|"
highscore_1_4_2=" ?"
avg_time_1_1="Average Game Length.."
avg_time_1_2="Average|Survival Time.."
avg_time_1_3="Most Balls Drained in.."
avg_time_1_4="Can you last longer than?.."
PosScreen=2
PosX=3340
PosY=584
SizeW=1172
SizeH=440
Orientation=0
Mirror=0
Shades=0000000000000000

Does it need to be in the pinballX folder or something like that?  I have it starting up when PinballX starts.  Should it start when windows starts?

Ok that worked...however, the DMD that is run by Pinmame looks to be underneath it.  It's also not the right size, despite what I put in the INI file.  Is it in the registry?

See Positioning in the PDF

I did.  It's positioned fine now.  However, when I put a shortcut in the startup folder, it seems to ignore the size and position.  When I start it from the folder, then it works fine.  I tried copying the shortcut into the startup folder and that did the same thing.  It didn't like that.  The DMD is on the right screen, but it's in the wrong place and it's the wrong size.

Hi

i have futureDMD set up but when i run it via a DMD enabled table like t2 for example the dmd display is the wrong way round like its mirrored, ive tried every option in futureDMD like mirrored= 0 or 1 or 2 etc...and inverted off etc...but no joy. Any ideas how to fix this ?

Im running latest version 1.8

EDIT WORKING NOW... Did a fresh install of Future Pinball and DMD must have been a registry error.

I posted this on the other thread too but saw a link to this one in the future dmd guide. Here goes:

I'm trying to experiment with changing dmd color for select tables but it's not working. Still pulls the default orange. If you follow the suggestion in the future dmd guide then run the dmd, it has to be resized/positioned again as it messes that up. No biggie. Then the ini file automatically updates and this is what it looks like but again, running Aliens Legacy, it still pulls the default color. If I change the default color, it will change but for all tables. It's not working for individual tables: (fyi, I also tried adding the .fpt in the table name to no avail)

As stated in the FutureDMD guide.... you can only change DMD colour when using FutureDMD from a front-end. The guide tells you what command you need to use.
