Hey fuzzel, regarding the exit menu. Would it be possible to always reset the selection to "Back" upon exiting the menu. I'm trying to get my speed up to select things but I always forget where I last left off. If it always reset to "Back" then anyone can do it blindly and quickly. ie. exit key, one click and enter will always get to the filter.

1.87

It's so nice to be able to quickly get to the next section in the filter menu now, thanks for that fuzzel. Any chance we can get the exit menu highlight reset to the back button or have you decided against that.

I'm not sure if I understood you. Can you explain it a bit more? What you mean with 'exit menu highlight reset' ?

Having the highlight always return to the Back line when you exit the menu. So if you hit exit and get to the menu it should always start at the very top or Back.

This is already implemented in 1.87 for the exit menu. I don't want to add this for the filter menu because you won't see anymore which filter is currently used.

Nope exit menu only is what I wanted. I guess it's not working for me then, I'll dig deeper into it tomorrow.

so i guess you have a problem with the settings and/or with the database. how does your settings.ini look like? does it crash trying to start an external startup program or while loading the images? try the debugmode to see if PS has problems loading the images.

i don't even get that far. Basically it crashes the second I doubleclick the .exe.

It doesn't get to write anything in the settings.ini-file.

i don't have any table-images, only videos. Could that be a problem?

EDIT: Problem solved. For some reason I had empty values in settings.ini on:

[Keyboard]
SkipUp              =
SkipDown            =

It didn't like that. As soon as I added values, it started working.

Thanks.

I got another problem now. My ledwiz won't start when it runs the ledset.bat.

If I run the .bat-file manually I get the same error, but somehow when I run hyperpin it works. I guess FPLaunch has something to do with it?

sorry can't help you here..

v1.88 will be out in one or two days. I added a database editor to PinSelect which is reachable through a command line parameter.
The database loading routine is reworked too so I hope it won't be so bitchy with different xml dialects anymore ;)
Stay tuned...

v1.88 is out!

http://sourceforge.n...88.rar/download

To use the editor start: PinSelect.exe /edit (be sure to read the ps_readme.txt for some information regarding the editor)

This version should give you some hints if there is a problem with your settings.ini, older versions just crashed if some settings/keys weren't defined.

My own god damn fault...now fixed.

Time to download the new 1.88. Still waiting for video-support.

Thanks fuzzel.

@Fuzzel There are a few VP desktop tables that are quite good and would be nice to play on my cabinet. I am personally especially interested in a couple of VP8 originals. Now it would be nice to be able to play those on my cabinets backglass. Would it be technically possible to implement this in PinSelect?

Hmm don't know how to do that. PS just starts FPLaunch with the correct parameters everything else is done by VP/FP. I can add support for launching different emulators VP8,PinballFX2...but forcing them to use a special monitor is

more a driver issue

The only way to do this is install 2 Visual Pinballs and have your desktop tables run on one and your cabinet tables run on the other. This software doesn't support specifying which EXE to run when you open a table...

Thank you for your hard work and time on this project. It definitely seems like the next progression to HyperPin for me. Looking forward to the weeks and months ahead!

For some reason I have started having a new problem when trying to play a future pinball table when I first open up pinselect.  If I select a table everything freezes up and I have to kill it with task manager.  The only way I am able to play a future pinball table from pinselect is if I start a Visual Pinball table first.  Then I can go back and successfully start a FP table.  Weird.  Is anyone else having this issue?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Nick

Fuzzel, is this project ongoing? I noticed that pinballx seemed to drop right after you created this. While it's nice, I don't think it compares to the simplicity of this project and ease of integration with existing hyperpin installations. Long live PinSelect!

At the moment I'm quite busy with real live and updating Visual Pinball. I thought about using Direct2d for displaying everthing, but you would loose WinXp support...

Fuzzel, can you please comment on the future pinball table loading problem I now am having? Have you seen this? It's very strange. It doesn't happen if I load up hyperpin. It only happens from pinselect. Once I load a VP table and then exit I can then play any FP table. If pinselect is opened and a FP table is selected first then pinselect freezes. And when I open up task manager future pinball is not listed as running. It's like FP doesn't even load up. Any ideas?
Thanks
Nick

Ps. It seems that this started after adding pinball fx2 and the modified fplaunch into the mix. Although I'm not having any problems loading fx2 from pinselect

Hmm sounds to me that something is wrong with your modified fplaunch script? PinSelect just starts fplaunch with the desired command line option (VP or FP) and waits until fplaunch terminates. Maybe fplaunch doesn't terminate

and so PinSelect waits forever. However it doesn't explain why it's not happening with Hyperpin. I'm just guessing because I don't use PinballFX2 and VP/FP starts fine whatever table is selected first.

I can't reproduce the issue on my side using Pinselect v1.88 and FPLaunch1.295wip10 Pinball FX2 mod 1.2.
I tried starting both VP and VPM tables before starting a FP table. FP starts much like it does under HyperPin, only faster.

Can you try temporarily replacing the modded fplaunch.exe with Blur's original WIP10 release to see if the error goes away?
