Excellent, glad to know you're happy with that board since it's the same as mine! dblthumb.gif

I bought the red one from Future Electronics, top notch company to deal with. (5 stars)

Placed my order paid the $7 shipping and the item was at my door the next day. Unfreaking believable!

That's because you're in Canada! Still, didn't take too long to get to me, a little over a week. I was happy with their service, and they boxed it very nicely. I noticed they started stocking up on the boards, probably because all of us have been ordering from them biggrin.gif We probably should have all banded together and bought them at a discount rate.

Hi russdx

I sent an email to contact at pindmd dot com asking to be added to the second batch list.

I probably will not be building my cabinet for a year or two but I just couldn't pass this up!

Looks like the red ones we got at $217 are now officially out of stock.

The still have plenty of the expensive orange ones though.

I love the quote where it says they can be used in ATM machines.. LOL, I would love to see one of these boards in an atm! Could you imagine? I don't think I've seen even a monochrome ATM in over 10 years....

Upon further thought, I wish I'd ordered the more expensive orange

Because:

- Orange is more like the real thing
- I've heard the red is not as bright as the orange
- etc.

The red LED DMD is a good buy, I don't outright regret it, however if I was revisiting the purchase, I'd spend the $80 more and just get the orange.

If I were putting it in a real pinball machine it would be orange all the way.
I am really looking forward to my virtual pin, being next to my Addams Family and Twilight Zone, to stand out and be different with the red DMD.

There are a lot of tables that look good with a red display too. People will buy filters for orange dmd's just to turn their display to red. A buddy of mine did it on his Scared Stiff. Obviously like I said, AC/DC is red. I decided to pony up the extra because I want the thing to look as realistic as possible, and 99% of the games out there are orange displays, whether DMD or not. It will never be perfect though, and to each their own. I enjoy looking at everyone's builds, even if their display was green!

I was doing some searching around on these boards and see that there were 4 different ones made. 2 orange, 2 red. Both with different brightness levels. I'd be curious if maybe the red that they are selling there are the less bright while the orange are the more bright.

I've been struggling deciding on which one to get. I've never been a huge fan of the orange, but it's pretty much the standard right?.. and the red looks great on some tables, but not good on others...decisions decisions. I'm very anxious to see what new things come from this biggrin.gif

havent notice any fps loss my self BUT thats prob because i am testing just normal layouts not these super cab layouts lol.

i have also been compiling against the normal pinmame build not Destruks special cab build (he is gonna add my code once its complete)

the usb send command is all handled in separate thread so technically shouldn't effect the game play at all! but if people are seeing performance hits i can move all the usb code to another application you would run in the background and the pinmame.dll would just send it the frame data over a socket and the usb application would handle the board. but the fully integrated pinmame.dll should work fine.

Nice plan there Russ. I have the grid red led and I dont mind it. The grids are not noticable when playing but I dont have something to compare (yet!).

Think I will order a plasma with 12V onboard to give it a run to compare. Will be a little while off before I can but will post vids for everyone else.

I have my real Addams Family set up right next to my Virtual pin.
I will try to film them running at the same time when the board arrives.

Hi Russx,

last week I received my Vishay DMD from Future Electronics,, you don't wanna know how much it cost..., damn, I ordered from FE france, sent from Menphis, US, I received the fantastic email from Fedex in Barcelona's Customs, asking for VAT and taxes and FE charged me 78$ only for shipping it!

well, now I only wish to enjoy it,, but I still have to build my cabinet from scratch... aaaaarrrg!

here's a pic of the creature...

I can't wait to test your pinDMD,,

cheers!
