hi,

can you give me a way...

try to use these wonderful T2 Backglass, but i have a green line :bye2:

I use a Full HD resolution on the second screen.

Is this the only b2s backglass that does this? Is the background on the second monitor that color green? Did you properly set the resolution for the backglass in the b2s configuration file?

Hi Manbo, please test another directB2S backglass. Is that green line gone or visible too?

Best regards, Herweh.

Hello again,

I know I was very silent the last about 5 or 6 weeks. But here we are with a very last preview of new 'directB2S' backglasses. A bit different is: I haven't included any previous backglasses in this download package. Just two backglasses, two tables and the server code.

Here is the download link: http://www.mediafire...md1svf0db1ehno7

As always, please

  • Unzip all files into your VP tables folder and overwrite already existing files with this new ones
  • Start the EXE and the server dll should be registered automatically (with Win7 start the exe as administrator). There should be NO NEED to register once again when you have done this with the previous version
  • No need to do anything more since the needed tables are already included in this package.

Please do not use an older version of the server dll.

The reason why there are two tables included in this package is: These are backglasses for tables without VPinMAME. The first one is an EM table, the second one an Original:

  • BASEBALL: A wonderful table from Sabbat, converted to fullscreen (thanks thewool and luvthatapex for helping me to do this), backglass images from Pinuck and Sabbat. I have added the backglass with some reels, some very cool scrolling reels with illumination.
  • ACDC: Cool table from JP, great backglass image from Grizz. Thanks to Rosve for doing a lot script coding for the LEDs. Just a bit lighting, but a nice LED display at the third monitor or at the grill.

The best and most important news: These backglasses are done without any Visual Studio coding. This wasn't possible till now. The new backglass server is able to handle a VPinMAME communication and a direct communication between table and backglass.

Please notice: These aren't the final versions of the tables and the backglasses. I will add some improvements at the VP script code. Just a preview to show you what the server is able to do.

Have fun.

Pretty important when you're having some stutter:

  • Check the color depth of the backglass monitor. It should be 32bit.
  • Maybe use the new EXE mode: Get into the settings (focus on the backglass and press 'S') and check the button 'Start backglass in EXE mode' and save your settings. Now restart the table.

Thanks a lot to all the beta testers and everybody who is waiting for the designer. I expect about 2 weeks last bug fixing and the first version will be released.

Best regards, Herweh.

P.S.: Maybe there are some problems with the general illumination of the T2 backglasses. Sorry for that but I had to change the G.I. strings access of the server. It's pretty simple to fix this issue so please send me a PM when you want to do this at your cab.

When trying to play ACDC I get the following error:

Line 7

Object doesnt support this property or method: 'Controller.B2SName'

Same thing for Baseball except Line 39

I had no issues running the previous B2S tables.

I'm sure you are not using the server of the package. Please rerun the 'B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.EXE' (maybe as Admin when you're running Win7).

For some reason when I extracted to the Tables folder, the .dll did not get overwritten.  Works great now! Thanks!

The AC/DC backglass is awesome!

I use a Full HD resolution on the second screen.

I put the green area on purpose. It's to show you that your ScreenRes.txt is not set like it should be.

It should start with something like this:

1920
1080
1920
1080 or 1200 --> Depending on your monitor resolution
3

...

Of course, if you use 1920 x 1200 (16/10), you have to download the matching file.

I tried to set this up today on my cabinet.  I ran into the exact issue ICPJuggla did when trying to register the dll:

Well I've followed all the instructions and keep getting

Oops, the 'B2S backglass server' is NOT registered. Have you started this app as 'Administrator'?
(Cannot create ActiveX component.)

I even re-downloaded everything and started over.. Still nothing...Okay, your system is not able to register the B2S.Server. What I'm doing in my register app is

  • locating your .Net framework 4 because I need an EXE called 'regasm.exe'. Maybe it is at 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319'?
  • calling this regasm.exe in your VP tables folder to register the B2SBackglassServer.DLL

So maybe you can do this on your own: Open your command window (cmd) as admin and locate it to your VP tables folder. It should look something like this:
attachicon.gifB2SBackglassDesigner121015_2.jpg

Then try to register the backglass server dll with regasm. The command should look similiar to this:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe "B2SBackglassServer.dll" /codebase

I did try each workaround.  Installing as admin, the running the command line regasm.exe  The cmd attempt errored out.  I verified I do have v4.030319, and inside it is regasm.exe but it is spelled RegAsm.  Would this spelling being different than your spelling cause me the issue?

I tried it with RegAsm instead, same error:

RegAsm : error RA000 : Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball\Tables\B2SBackglassServer.dll' or one of its dependencies.  Operation is not supported.  <Exception from HRESULT" 0x80131515>

I'm not sure what is up with the ///C:\Program ?  I am not putting in any slashes, just your exact command.

Ok tried it a third time, this time I removed the extra space you had entered before /codebase.  Still failed, guess you have to have the space.    error this time:

Microsoft ® .NET Framework Assembly Registration Utility 4.0.30319.1

Copyright © Microsoft Corporation 1998-2004.  All rights reserved.

RegAsm : error RA0000 : Unable to locate input assembly 'B2SBackGlassServer.dll/codebase' or one of its dependencies.

See my post on #175.  I too had a problem originally registering the dll.  I found out that it was a problem with my PC blocking the files.  Look at the properties and if it says "Unblock" then just do so and it should register fine.  Here is a link to my post from November.

Once you get it registered, it is as easy to configure as (or easier than) UVP.

Darquayle and ICPJuggla - thanks. I had already tried this, unfortunately it made no difference for me. Yes they did have that box checked under the advanced properties, but unchecking it still will not make it work :(

Thanks Herweh, I will try it tonight. If it doesn't work, do you think an upgrade to windows 7 would help things? I have not yet upgraded because I have heard some people have issues with flipper and solenoid lag when using ledwiz and win7 in cabinets.

Reading comprehension for the win.  I had unblocked your register app but I hadn't unblocked your dll as well.  I am stupid.  Once I unblocked both it worked just fine.  Thanks for the troubleshooting, sorry I am so stupid.

Thank you very very much for the new system! This is one of the greatest new developments for VP! But I also almost overlooked this new development.

Can you please always update the first posting on the first page for new updates, new files and new info? It's a little bit hard to read all 15 pages as a newbie to the new system. And think about if there were 180 pages or so... ;)

I also think the thread should get a clearer name that it also includes a new subsystem and not only a designer program! I found this thread some months ago but I didn't read it that thoroughly because I thought it's only a designer and I do not plan to design a backglass at the moment!

Hi Clark,

thanks a lot for the kind words. You're absolutely right, this thread is getting so huge, no way to get thru for a newbie. To be honest the whole designer thing started a lot smaller and evolved and evolved and evolved. This new 'B2S.Server' wasn't planed when I started the designer. FYI: About 5 months ago I contacted Rosve with just the idea to backup him doing some B2S backglasses. And now we are able to add a pretty new B2S system with designer and server to VP tables, Noah is thinking about a dedicated area at the forum. It's sort of weird, isn't it?

The good news: This thread is coming to an end. Maybe about 2 weeks last bug fixing and there will be the first official release of version 1.0 of designer and server. All the beta testers did a great job, so I was able to fix some bugs and add some more nice features to designer and server.

Best regards and "viele Grüße aus Deutschland nach Österreich ;)", Herweh.

Servas aus Österreich! ;)

OK, if you look from the perspective of an evolving program in beta stages then it is absolutely understandable why this mess happened. Never mind. So as the final release is comming soon this shadowy jungle should be a thing of the past once and forever... :)

Thank you for this first-class product!!!!!
