I tried to duplicate the issue on mine. No such luck. Mine plays smooth as silk everything max settings with no tears or slowdowns on that table. I am using a gtx 970 4gb.

With a 970 @ 4GB, nothing slows down, ever.  Nothing....

First ever post so please be gentle.

I thought I'd throw my had into the VPX beta testing but am having some serious issues. Namely, no matter what I try I get an error that says "Visual Pinball can not load a file of that version." when I try to open a table with a .vpx extension.

I've searched and searched for what could be wrong without luck. If this is answered somewhere, please point me to it. If not, any help you can provide will be appreciated.

By the way, .vpt files load fine but of course do not run properly.

Best Regards!

Of course after I post this request I run across a thread covering this. I followed the suggestions there and all is well. Sorry for the unnecessary post.

Best Regards!

As suggested, I should have included a link to the thread that had the answer to my earlier post.

Here it is

http://www.vpforums....c=32355&hl=vp10

Has to do with the way I unzipped the files.

Copying .zip to desktop, unblock the .zip file, then extracting to visual pinball folder made it work!

Best Regards!

A little bug in the latest rev: if I go to "view" -> "options" the window won't close, even after restarting it's still there

Go back to "view" and click on "options" again and the box will close.  Conversely, you can also click on the "options" box on the main interface to the left of the table area and it should close.

Hauntfreaks, since you and I were the ones discussing, thought I'd share with you that I think I may have solved my tearing issue tonight.  The one thing I hadn't tried yet (hadn't thought of it til tonight) was to try the other DVI port on my GTX770.  I did that tonight, made a few changes in my GFX card and VPX settings and now the ball is smooth as silk framerate wise and no more tearing anywhere on the screen.  After switching ports, in the nvidia control panel I turned on vertical sync, and also set VPX framerate/vsync to "1."  My issue is now resolved and I'm no longer frustrated with VPX.  BRING ON THE TABLES!

I'm also on the DVI ports... but when I turn on vsysnc I my VPX doesnt run as smooth... i'll turn it back on to see if the tearing goes away tho... thanks!

rev2176 is up:

- introduce "Reflection Enabled" flag for disabling static reflection on elements

- fix dynamic reflection and activate it

Very nice, thanks! I've been wondering for a while now if it was possible to remove unused textures, sounds & models from the table like in FP?

Many thanks for this fuzzel.

BTW, I've noticed that the reflections are also appearing on the light inserts, which (and I can be wrong) should not react as much as a polished playfield.

Do you think they could be excluded from the reflections?

Maybe the reflection strength is too high? Looks weird with no reflection, they do on Evil Dead anyway with that wireform running over the top of an arrow insert.

This is intended. As far as I know the playfield has normally a reflective finish and the inserts have a (colored) transparent and reflective top/cap. I agree that the reflection on a real world table wouldn't be that noticeable but that's the only solution I can give you at the moment. The reflection stuff needs some fine tuning though. If you set the reflection strength too high you will get a "perfect mirror look" but normally the reflected objects should fade away in the distance. This behavior isn't implemented at the moment.

Thanks. It's good to see that you plan to fine tune it later.

This feature is already a great improvement, so I'm really curious to see how it develops.

I've noticed the addition of a second box in the relection settings.

Can I assume that the first one is for the ball, and the second for the playfield?

yes the first field under strength is for the ball and the second for the playfield. I've already changed the UI which field is for what setting, will come in the next beta version.

I <3 dynamic reflections.  With very minimal testing they work really well!!!

One thing I noticed that I suppose is not a huge deal is...  I have drop targets that are dropped most of the time then pop up during certain events (think shoot the bad guy in Cactus Canyon)  While the target is dropped the reflection shows upside down and above the playfield.
