With the new table Champions League 2021, I have an error when I go to interactive mode (F6) :

Fatal error: shader compilation failed! Unknown...at RenderDevice.cpp line 796

I'm in Visual Pinball 10.7 rev310

Do you get that always, or just the one time?

I get that when relaunching a table a lot when editing, but i do not get that at all when just playing normally.

and not sure why it does it on relaunches, probably something not clearing out on table exit that should have

I had just tested the championship league table against an error someone was reporting
and did not run into that, i might if i launch and relaunch it a bunch of times though

I have the problem each time I enter the interactive mode (F6). I close Visual Pinball, I load the table, I click on the button for Interactive mode and I have a lot of popup 'compile error' and this :

Fatal error: shader compilation failed! Unknown...at ...\RenderDevice.cpp:796

Occasionaly I can enter the Interactive mode without error (once in 10).

Hmm
I annoyingly do get that sometimes on relaunches when editing
but not just opening VPX loading a single table and hitting F6

I wonder if it may help to clear your directX shader cache?

Run disk cleanup tool
then click system button
then make sure the check directX shader cache

Other than that, need @Toxie or @Fuzzel to chime in

*I guess you already know, but the image manager thumbnails are not visible in beta 10.7, hope you can fix it. :love39:

Yes they are
Open the table to EDIT, dont double click to PLAY

Are you not seeing the big message that displays in place of the images?

That is not a bug, that is an intended design feature to help it load better/faster in a PLAY environment since loading that stuff in the editor is not needed
and is a waste of time and resources.

Thanks Wiess. Now I understand the reason and the message "Playing mode. Please reload". I'm a boomer 10.6

It's just a idea for the future:

An option to allow 'loading screens'. I use hypersplash with .ahk module in hyperspin. It works fine, but if it were included in VP would be great =@

Loading screens?
Does not the front end usually handle that job?

I do not have hyperspin, but in PinballX i would never see what VPX might be showing becuase pinballX is busy running a loading screen.

I am guessing you mean like the loading screen FP has, but that i can not see in PinballX?

Run disk cleanup tool

jejepinball :

Thank You for the DirectX cache cleaning process, but the error still appears. The error occurs especially when I open the table in "PLAY mode" (double-clic), I close the playfield view and I click on the button "Interactive mode".

ok so that is a double launch

what about if you right click, pick edit and then hit F6?

I know it can trip that error on subsequent relaunches where vpx is not closed, but i do not know why
I have posted screen shots of the error a few pages back

It's a directX error, something going wrong when compiling the shaders i think, but i do not know why

I also know that it seems not to do that error if you kill off all the graphics options
but obviously the table looks like crap then, but it is ok for editing etc at least for a while until you start working on lighting shadows and transparencies etc and need the video options back maxed out again

Maybe @toxie or @Fuzzel can make something out of it.

jejepinball :

Yes, if I right click on .vpx file, pick edit and then hit F6 : it works. So, the problem is really when we relaunch the table (in playing mode to interactive mode, or if I enter in interactive mode multiple times).

Yes, that happens to me also
How frequently varies depending on table
And yes, it is annoying, as you can imagine, when editing.
Always remember to save before attempting a launch, which is a bummer as sometimes i dont really want to save, i want to test 1st to see if i wrecked the table
so i have to remember to save as and save it as a temp table, cause once you get the shader compiling error, there is no hope of saving.

Now this error almost never happens on my laptop
But my laptop has no GPU except the old i5 itself
and so the laptop has all the graphics options turned off entirely.

On anything with a real GPU and the graphics settings set for max prettiness, yep i can make that error happen just by relaunching a table a few times

If I set some prims "blenddisablelighting" value via debug editor, I'm not seeing the effect right away. I need to click on the table, to let it run again, and see how this new value affected. This is making lighting adjustment almost impossible, when tuning flashers and inserts.

In 10.6 when you call some flasher sub that is used for solenoid, I was able to see that flashers full level instantly and I was able to search better values for each flasher and primitive. This is the way I tuned various flashers for VPW TFTC, Metallica, Hook, etc. With 10.7 nothing happens unless I let the table to run by clicking it -> flasher goes to fading state and I'm already late.

Another thing... Would you be willing to add this really small thing to right click menus. Hint that F10 and F11 can be used for adding points in objects. I've missed this the whole time I've used VPX. Like this: https://imgur.com/a/eiT552A

Yes

vbscript can get the time and date

Dim t
t = Now()

simple script to get the time

VPX can do anything vbs can do

malware has been written in vbs, so vpx may execute malicious scripts ?

Now() displays the instantaneous date and time, but to display the current time? (hh:mm:ss scrolling)

This is why you dont go download tables from unknown sources, and table packs and stuff

not that i would call knowing what time it is malicious

But yes, you can set a variable to = Now()
then have a timer run every 60 seconds
and use a text box for lack of anything more creative

and have it display the variable

I mean you could build a digital clock display of flashers or lamps if you want to get more complicated
or use a reel even

But yes, you can use VBS time functions

Hi guys, has anyone detected a scoring error in JP's Space Cadet table?.
At some point in the game the scoreboard stops and after a while it scores again, but subtracting the points instead of adding them.
I think this is related to the top 3 targets on the left that control the Playfield Multiplier value. Sometimes when hitting the 3 targets,
the light in front of them does not turn on and then the failure occurs.
I am using JP table version 1.03. with the full VPX 10.7 package downloaded from here: https: //www.vpforums...=44135&p=448068
Thanks!

Maybe ask table related questions where they belong ? In the support thread for the table ! I see this thread used for LONG discussions about things that is NOT related to 10.7.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Not related to 10.7 beta
Please ask support questions for this table here

Well Balls, Thalamus beat me to it

@Toxie @Fuzzel
When you guys are not busy, can you give any info about the Xinput/dInput functions you added to 10.7?

They seem to not be ready yet as you can not actually change the dropdowns, but what will this be capable of?

I've been working with the 10.7 beta for a couple of months now and it has been working fine.  Today, I must have hit a key or something and now the 10.7 toolbar seems to be 'separate' from the GUI.  When I load a table from Popper, the toolbar flashes on the screen for a couple of seconds and then disappears.  This never happened before today.  Also when I'm editing tables directly in 10.7 the toolbar seem to float around...previous to this it was sort of contained within the GUI.  Now I can move it around and even outside the GUI.  Really annoying . Is there a way to hide the toolbar ???

Grab it and drag it into the docking port you will see appear in the spot where you pulled it out of
