One last decision then all i got to do is put the media pack together really quick

Can you guys tell the difference between these 2 images. One is the high res textures the other is the low res textures. The difference in table size is 20 mb.
I'm trying to decide which wether to release both or just the low res. I can't really see the difference.

Anyway, the next couple of posts will decide for me while i make the HP media pack.

I'm leaning toward releasing the low res and if someone wants the high res i'll send them a link.

Warning the table is a beast. the high res version will not run on a weak system, I think the low res should run ok for most if not all people.

Let me know please

There's a box around the mummy on low res smile.gif

I'd go for the 20 meg smaller, personally. But I bet that's not the popular opinion. Just like people always want cars with huge horsepower they'll never use on city streets, and 95 inch tvs even though their living room is only 6 feet across. Everyone always wants MOAR whether it makes sense or not.

If it looks good, and the text is readable at the lower res, I'd totally go that way - since it probably includes a performance boost for lower end hardware in addition to the size savings.

There's so little difference Unclewilly, that I'd be satisfied with the lowres one. btw - why does the lowres one have a rectangle outline around the Mummy? Is that an artifact of shrinking the images or just a rendering error of some sort? (If it hasn't been said often enough already - this table looks really amazing!!)

My personal opinion is to release the low res version and provide the link to the hi res as you proposed. That way those of us who do not have the computer power to run the hi res efficiently can enjoy your masterpiece! However, this is just my opinion. The ultimate decision should be yours based on how comfortable you feel with the version you release.

Either way, the WIPs look great!

I can't tell the difference from that picture (other than the mummy thing), but neither pic is actually high res, is it? Maybe if you could take shots of both tables at 1920x1080, it make for a more fair comparison.

I would prefer to try high res first, then if there is an issue, low res.

UW, to be honest I think the low-res images look sharper. I've found that sometimes, when a very large image is used in VP it becomes blurred (You will notice this more in 4:3; maybe you should compare the difference in that view). Plus, releasing the table with low-res images would also allow for more users to be able to play the table without having to re-size anything to combat z-surface errors, or download a 'lite version'.

Looks damn fine, by the way! cool.gif
