Imo. You gave up too fast. Use freezy, ( enable ext dmd ), put the x, y, w and h into dmddevice.ini and you are never going to move the dmd again. Or I should say. Only when you don't want it to stay at the standard place you have set in the ini. Much easier in the long run.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I've tried to switch over from ultra dmd to flex dmd. the only problem I've got is the score overlay is not showing. it is there and shows on some tables but on some tables its missing. i have uninstalled ultra dmd and satisfied flex dmd is working as the colours of the table are more vibrant

is there a small fix for this overlay not showing

thanks

it's ok I've decided to not use software or tables that don't appear to work in future. its only a very very few tables this applies to and i don't with my level of expertise need to get that involved

thanks anyhow :)

ultra dmd renders the score overlay correctly top left of the desktop monitor whereas flex dmd the score overlay is missing. the tables in question are Young Frankenstein and America's most haunted. i thought to give flex dmd a try to keep up with you guys but as i say its not that important. i did register flex dmd correctly with the 4 boxes each with a green tick beside

Did you change the script for amf  from the repo ? I'm still not sure what you mean by overlay though. amf works perfectly here, and by that, no micro stutter. I don't run virtual dmd though. Pindmd3, but I expect that to be working just as fine on any virtual.

I've not touched the script. i assumed that flex dmd by its install of ticking the 4 boxes to green i didn't need to touch anything? the overlay is the small display screen that comes up in the top left corner which show the scores

it only works in the main visual pinball folder not in the vpinmame folder. both folders have the DmdDevice.dll don’t forget but its only working like i say in the main folder.

like you i thought that odd but for some odd reason that’s the way it is ?

You only need the Freezy DMDDevice.dll and only 1 instance of it (ever). Since the latest versions of FlexDMD you no longer need the DMDDevice.dll provided with the files. That's more than likely your issue. Also you DO need to have FlexDMD in your VPinMame folder.

thanks for your input. as its working I'm going to have to stick with the flexdmd install in the wrong folder and see what happens. overall my set up is working well on all tables. i just hope the pace of updates slows down

Just remember that ... when you update something else. You have a messed up setup - not knowing what is active and from were.

Im going to inject a terribly n00bish question

If i ultimately want to create a from scratch table, which of course wont have any ROM

and i would like it to have a "fake" DMD on the backglass, would this be the thing i need?

It's probably a dumb question, but i dont know anything yet.
I have not yet even made a table that simply shoots balls into the drain, but i am trying to get all the stuff together and figured out software wise
before i even start making something.

Right now im just at the break software stage :)
