...Hello Dozer,
Beautiful table sir! One of my wife's favorites as well and you more than brought it to life! Thank you! I was wondering if there an end-user method/option to reduce the amount of image swaps during the first ball. I've tried several different VPX video settings and I had cut the stutter down a bit, but then I made some other changes and now the stutter is much more noticeable! Perhaps a full 1- 2 seconds! As you said, after all the flashers have been triggered once, my computer seems to handle the table just fine, other than some other sporadic stutter that just started happening, but I think my computer's hardware should be able to handle it. (i5, GTX660, 12G Ram, SSD). Thank you!
Thank-you for the comment. I don't think there is a way to cut down on that initial stutter until the engine caches all of the textures. Unfortunately this table uses many image swaps so it is fairly noticeable on the first ball until they load. If the I/O subsystem on your cabinet is fast enough and there's enough video ram it shouldn't be too horrible but you will notice it.
If the initial stutter occurs when the flashers are first used due to the caching of all the textures. How about briefly triggering all the flashers when loading the table, to get that out of the way. I don't know if I got all the flashers, but give this a try. Just paste this at the bottom of the table script
'*** Enable flashers temporarily to pre-load images Sol17 1 Sol18 1 Sol19 1 Sol20 1 Sol21 1 Sol22 1 Sol23 1 Sol24 1 Sol25 1 Light1.TimerInterval=1000 Light1.TimerEnabled = True Sub Light1_Timer Sol17 0 Sol18 0 Sol19 0 Sol20 0 Sol21 0 Sol22 0 Sol23 0 Sol24 0 Sol25 0 Light1.TimerEnabled = False End Sub
