One more thing...

 

On my cab I would like to disable "Exit PinSelect" and only have the option "Shutdown System".

 

In Hyperpin's Settings.ini there is a section called [Exit]. I noticed that PinSelect doesn't use those entries but instead has "ShowShutdownOption" under [PinSelect]. Something like "ShowExitOption" under [PinSelect] is missing.

 

Would it be possible for PinSelect include an option to disable "Exit PinSelect", preferably by using the entry under [Exit]?

Fuzzel I can't test anything until I get home from work tonight. I'll report back ASAP.

I do not load anything from batch files, I simply click on pinselect shortcut. Does not get far enough for debug to work, instant crash.  I have not tried new version, I will when I get home from work, and report back

Wait that's not true, I do load the led.bat stuff within the settings.ini.

Version .185 crashes immediately for me.

So did .184.

The last working version I have installed is .181 although I still can't get it to show all of my tables.

Hmm could you all please try what happens if don't start something on startup (by removing the entries in startup program in settings.ini?) Another test is to start PS with admin rights.

I tried a few things out on my cab with crappy windows 8-64bit.  Here's what I found...

 

Scenario #1

Settings.ini file WITH ledset.bat and ledoff.bat in the startup and exit executables

 

Results

Hyperpin runs normally AND CORRECTLY shows all 173 of my tables (WITH cabinet lighting control)

Pinselect (version 181) runs but ONLY shows 99 of my tables (without cabinet lighting control)

Pinselect (version 185) CRASHES at startup

 

Scenario #2

Settings.ini file WITHOUT ledset and ledoff executables

 

Results

Pinselect (version 181) runs but ONLY shows 99 of my tables (without lighting control)

Pinselect (version 185) runs correctly and SHOWS ALL 173 of my tables!  (without lighting control)

yep that helps thanks...I made a mistake starting processes, but it must have something to do what you start. I tried it with some simple scripts and applications and I didn't get a crash at all. I have to analyze that a bit deeper and will fix it with the next version

Confirmed this operates exactly as mine. 

Noticed ugly noise when you hold the exit button as if scrolling through tables except scratchy. My 4 year old who loves his pinball is used to holding the button for 3 seconds to exit table. I would also like to ask if possible to also exit with full 3 second hold. So initial exit button tap gets the menu, and if you were to continue to hold button, pinselect would  exit. I would rather do this than hit exit, then flipper to scroll to exit pinselct button, then hit enter button.  I hope this makes sense.  Keep it up!  Me and my son are spending serious pinball time now thanks to your efforts.

The exit button noise went away after a few tables, not sure why. In more testing I found that the new BAM works with FP 2.5 and pinselect now, Yay!

Ok here is a release candidate for the upcoming v1.86.

Could you please test it if the crash is still happen when you define a startup program?

The archive contains the executable only, just extract it in your Hyperpin directory.

Appears to work. However I get an error on startup, (hit continue and it works) and an error when I exit by menu or by 3 second button hold. have to force exit, so cant see if ledclear works

like its in debug. I think I have windows debug services stopped if that helps.

I am unable to extract the RAR file.  I keep getting an extraction failed error.  It says the file is corrupted or incomplete.  It's not my extraction utility, I use it all the time without problem.

I have version .NET 4 installed on a W7 64 bit pc

I get a white screen with a red border and a red cross to point out the middle of the screen.

No that's not the same error. Something went wrong rendering the wheel/icon.

Ahh I found the bug

I assume you guys didn't define a working directory in startup/exit program section? If there isn't a path defined PS will fail starting the program.

Final v1.86 will be out soon.

That is correct, no working directory defined. I'm glad you found the bug fuzzel, the past many hours must have been frustrating. Thanks for digging into it.
