hey Ravarcade, you should check out this tech. http://www.theverge....th-rick-johnson

They are using IR headtracking for that as well. I noticed the sensors they are using are pointed inward so that only one of the sensors can see the IR at some times. Is this something we could do with the wiimotes?

cool mod! I got a ps3 camera and everything is working, still need to tweak the face tracking a bit more on my setup though. Only major issue I have is when the table "shifts" I get some graphical artifacts, errors, black squares, whatever one calls them, etc. Is this an issue with my reality settings being wrong?

With wiimotes it would be unusable.

- Two wiimotes on hat/head - :(

- They are close to each other. In this steup "depth" resolution is very poor.

Need more info to answer.

First try to update gfx drivers.

I'm running a gtx560ti with drivers that are one release back. The newest drivers had the same issue but also gave me issues with visual pinball so I had to revert back.

I am new to this post, yet I have been using your BAM plugin and I think it is just great. One problem I have had recently was that the simple ps3 eye camera option does not detect the face anymore. i see myself n the camera, yet no face detection. It was working for a couple of weeks then suddenly it stopped. Could this be the drivers possibly being updated automatically. Thanks

There is not automatic update for eyetoys drivers.

If You see picture in BAM, all work in drivers is done.

Post Your settings.

At begin try:

- incerease res: to 640x480

- decrese Min Face Size

- increse Max Face Size.

You probly moved cam, and in new position is detected face bigger or smaller than previous, and Min/Max Face Size eliminate it. (it is only my gues)

Thanks, I guess the camera did get moved and when I corrected it the blue box appeared again. I had to reset the 3 points again and I am fine tuning once again. Would 2 ps3 eye cams work like the wiimotes do? How would something like that be possible? Does the wiimote setup stay still in 3d versus the movement of table with the one ps3 eye? Thanks again

WiiMotes are just cams used to trace ir-led.

You can modifi PS3 Eye cam to do same. Simples way is to remove original lens (these lens have IR-Filter), and replace it with other one, and adding filter to remove "day light".

One user have made very simple calibration board. He bought 2x Wii wireless sensor bars and use it to build the rectangular with leds at corners.

For start i recomend one PS3Eye.

If You alredy have 2x WiiMotes You can try it.

I now testing 2x modified PS3Eye to trace IR-LED. I still need few days to make it more "user friendly" but after test i can say: This is realy best way to trace player position.

yesterday I tryed with my cam and 2 100w bulbs for getting the max framerate as possible... obviously it was impossible to play because of the lights pionting my head, but i wanted to feel making soft movemenents how the sensation will be... and it was incredible...  EVERYONE must have this mode at least to use it the freeze cam mode its far away better.

Thanks again.  i will be finishing my cabinet and then and then try the PS3eye option.

wish you luck in your experimentations!

Here ya go grim http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz plug in how much voltage you have (1 x AA = 1.5v), then what the voltage drop is for led and then the amps used per led. this will tell you what resistors you need and show you how to wire it

looking forward to trying 2 ps3 cams rav. The Wiimotes already look great. Will the PS3 eye's just make it even smoother? I assume they also work fine when placed closer together than the wiimotes?

I tested cams placed 0.4-0.5m from each other. I this config without position smootering move is realy smooth. I can set cam position with step 0.1-0.2 in X/Y units and 0.3-0.5 in Z axis (in game units) Using wiimotes i have res: 1-2 in X/Y and 3-5 Z.

I tested with lens 2.8mm (FOV 92 deg). Only drawback compared to wiimotes is distortions:

- when i move tracked led in stright line, cam position is moved in arc (~5-10% error)

But with lens 3.6 / 4.3 (FOV 79/70 deg) distortions are much smaller (same like with WiiMotes).

On weekend i will write guide how to setup cams. Is is little more complicated than with WiiMotes.

Can anyone suggest a good USB BT dongle?  I bought one, but for some reason under XP it wants me to put in the code to pair the WiiMotes to the computer.  All the docs I read says that I shouldn't need to enter a pairing code.

Curious what other people are using if they are running XP (32 Bit).

Thanks

glad it helped.

Well I guess I need to pick up another ps3 eye. That sounds great Rav. It sounds like I can just put one camera on each end of my backbox. Looking forward to seeing the smoothness
