Failed to save minidump.

Is this deterministic for you? Cause i cannot repro.

 when i launch vpinmame the version is 3.4 and if i open up vpx it says the version is 10.7.  All of the tables seem to work except when i try a new one.  It says im running ver 10.6 and the table is 10.7 and of course the playfield is just white.

This confuses me. 'It says im running ver 10.6': Who is 'it'? Cause two sentences before you say VPX says 10.7.

Lazy question of the day:

If I am updating from the last release candidate can I just update the executive? Or at least skip the scripts folder. I like to avoid having to update the scripts for my configuration after I update. Thanks.

You should also update the scripts.. And i guess the only thing you changed is in VPMKeys.vbs? These changes you would have to copy over from the old one.

Hello, I've been away for about a year and decided to update everything and try some of the new tables out.  I was running vpinmame 3.3 and vpx 10.6.  I uninstalled vpinmame and installed 3.4 and have overwritter the last couple of RC's for vpx (192 and 202 now).  when i launch vpinmame the version is 3.4 and if i open up vpx it says the version is 10.7.  All of the tables seem to work except when i try a new one.  It says im running ver 10.6 and the table is 10.7 and of course the playfield is just white.  What am I missing?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, it sounds like either you have 2 exe's and the 10.7 is not the default
or you did not overwrite VPinballX.exe

if you renamed the 10.7 exe to something like vpinballX 10.7.exe etc, the tables will not open with it by default
You would need to rename 10.6's exe to vpinballX 10.6.exe and then extract the 10.7 beta right into the exact same folder visual pinball is running from now, and allow to overwrite everything.

FYI, you did not need to uninstall vpinmame, just unzip over it, then run setup and click install to re-register

you should overwrite, I rename the old VPX executable because I have to use it to properly configure my resolution... I can't use the beta to change anything graphical so that's my workaround although I'm quite a few revisions behind at this point.

for rotate OS, keep the old exe for screen changing, for now

New one still does not detect a rotated OS properly

Just 2 quick questions : From Github is it better to use the x86 or the x64 executable ? Is there any difference ?

For now the most compatible version is the x86, since all the other programs must also be x86 versions, like vpinmame and/or b2sServer, and this B2sServer is only x86 for now.

Differences? Not really, but the x64 version allows for bigger tables as it can use more ram than the x86 (which is limited to 3Gb). But there are no tables that need so much ram :)

Thanks for the response. It only takes a minute or two to update the scripts for my coin door and tilt bob. As I said, it was a lazy question.

Have a problem with v202rc, I had v185rc installed previously, I copied all the v202rc files over the previous install. I tried running the just released version of Eight Ball Champ by selecting it from the open window that auto pops-up when you start VPX. the table and back glass loads but their no activity on either. IF I click on the table to put it focus nothing happens and I can't even escape out of the table. If I Alt-Tab back to the editor the table area is blank and the file open window is displaying. I had to close the editor to exit. I tried rebooting to clear my PC's memorybut had same result. I then tried recent released version 007 table same problem. The I tried Freddy Nightmare on elm street and it worked fine.

I ran v185rc and have no problems running any of the 3 tables.

I found that if I load v202rc and don't use the file open window that auto loads on startup, and just close it then select file open from the drop down menu I can play all three tables with no problem.

Here is the crash.txt from when it didn't load:

The tables that crash
Do they load properly when the table file is double clicked, or does it crash then also?

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Could be that my recent change caused this. Will look into it, thanks for the report!

Can you please retry with https://github.com/v...7.0-203-6b4fe14 (cause i cannot repro :/)

@wiesshund

I can single click or double click same result with v202

@Toxie

With v203 from Get-Hub all 3 tables load and run properly, however when I escape or quit to editor the table unloads from the table view and pops up the file open window still.

Yes, this is supposed to be the new behavior. So kinda like a very very very simplistic front-end that lets you choose a new table after each game. Cancel then exits to 'normal' VP mode.

Thanks for the quick testing of the fix!

@Toxie

OK, thanks for the fix.. it didn't do that in v182rc. So if I want to edit a setting in the table I just played I will have to do a file reload from the previously ran list! I can live with that. (but I prefer it the old way) :) I use front ends for VP and VPVR, the only time I select the file from VPX is when I initially tryout a new table and do minor edit to the settings I like. Perhaps you could add a checkbox in the options to pick which way it behaves?

with rev202 I've been having hard times when trying to stream the game, if I do window or fullscreen capture and I quit out a table, subsequent table loads crash VPX.. even if I just alt tab it causes VPX to prompt for a new table and crash previously I could at least alt tab.

Mine is not doing any of that, so i think you must be able to turn that new feature off

and i must have turned off what ever it would use as a setting a long while ago

Not run yet 20x - but, reading this, knowing how unstable vp is not exiting completely I'm baffled to see what is introduced ?! Wouldn't it be better to track bugs, clearing the issue of instability/memory leaks before making vp go into loops - or have I misunderstood ?

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.
