Well, they can not do anything with my data, when i do not give them any.
I already know they are going to share it, it is in their TOS agreement.

They could not take any money from me, i would have to actually give them money.

And as much as they would probably like to, they can not show any advertisements on my PC
it simply will not show them.
I guess technically, that would make me lying to their advertisers also, but i'm ok with that ;)

Not sure what they do or do not do about investors, i do not invest in them.
It's social media, just not one of those things i consider a concrete long term investment.
+ today - this evening.

None of which though, has any bearing on people there in a pinball group, so you should probably deliver your concerns to facebook
rather than take it out on innocent users who have done nothing to you

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

@wiesshund : It is nice to hear that Facebook cant do any harm to you, but they did to a lot of people. My eyes just catched a headline 5 minutes ago, Facebook has to pay many millions because they collected biometric data from more than 1 million people.

Imo it just isnt right to support that company. Of course everybody has to make his own decision, but I dont want to. So I am bit sad that a lot of people prefer FB instead of the kind vpforums forum to talk about VPX VR. I just dont get it. Thats all

I don’t fault anyone for using FB, but it has been sad to witness migration away from smaller platforms / forums on so many fronts. If you have kids, I recommend watching “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix.

Again though, what pleasant news that there are so many VPVR players. It’s here to stay!
:)

Experienced unstable fps and performance headroom on quest 2 using VPVR and Amd RADEON cards and works fully perfect on Nvidia.

Using vega 64 or 6900xt cards make performance headroom jumping among 60% and negative values, when this value down to negative value, a dip in fps happens, dropping 6-10 frame per second.

Using same computer but installed a rtx 3060 instead amd, all this unstable issues are gone and playing so smooth, having  solid 72 or 90 hz and stable performance headroom.

Maybe @caligula can said wether there is some issue in vpvr with these amd cards or has to be another software conflict.

My investigation of the issue turned up that AMD's GL support just sucks in windows. My R9 290x in my desktop runs VPXGL at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. My laptop with a GTX 1080 does 100+ FPS. On paper and most benchmarks, the 1080 GTX should be about double the performance, not 300x.

PaulG.  For VPX you can have force feedback. In fact you can even mount real Stern Shaker motors, solenoids etc in your cabinet and have it controlled by the ROM.   Just search Google for  "VPX DOF" and you will find lots of info on it.

The other option for force feedback in VPX is SSF.   This is much easier to set up and can give you great results.   Basically what this is doing is separating the ROM audio and the Mechanical sounds so that you can have speakers, bass shakers and or exciters connected to their own amps that are installed in your cab for force feedback.    Google "VPX SSF"  to read about it.

Also,

The reason why there are not that many people responding here these days is because there is a FaceBook group for VPX VR where there are almost 1,000 members now and most of the conversations are there currently.

What is the facebook group name? I see several virtual pinball ones, but none specific to VPX VR.

Hopefully people will still stay here and post here as well as this site has been a great place for this hobby for so many years (and like many others I'm not a big FB fan).  Just had mentioned that other group since it seemed there was not all that much interest in VPX VR when there really is!

IMHO, I dislike facebook groups for that kind of topics.

I prefer forums like this one because information keeps more structurated, organized, date clasified... and it's easier to find.

Also you know who are posting and how great is he/she in the scene (by posted counts, reputation, etc...)

I.e. the last question I wrote (in both places fb and vpforums) I was answered first on fb, but quality on responses was higher here, and more accesible for future references.

it is my opinion.

@facbook we discussed a new feature of my vrlauncher and how to switch automatic between tables of different scaling (World Cup Soccer).

I checked this VR forum here for weeks. The only thing discussed in "VP with VR headset" 2021 is "Facebook".

It's more like a phonecall or a chat - it's fine if they both exist.

"VP with VR headset"

Usually this thread shouldnt even get new answers. This thread was created when there was no whole VR subforum. There are 4 subsubforums in the VR subforum. You find a lot of helpful threads here. But you are right, there should be more action in this forum.

Question to whom it may concern. The VR far plane, What is the default, the maximum it can be, does it have a hit on performance and finally, can I change it's value in the script?

I dont know for sure what the default is but I have mine set to near is 5.0 (i think default as I dont remember changing it) and far is 20,000 (default i think was maybe 200-500?). I think there is a very small performance hit but that is probably do to the scene in vr is huge being that the far plane is 20K of environment..

Cant remember the name of the table but it was Space Station? Anyway his VR scene is NUTS.. Also Fathom VR scene is great.. Creature has a cool drive in.. they impact performance no doubt but depending on how you tweak stuff or your machine you may not even notice much of a hit.. If your system is like mine and everything is overclocked to the max and aging then it might get laggy.

AND I have no idea if you can change via script but I would think probably? and you may not need to change it I have had mine set at 20K sense Fathom or Space Station and no real impact I can see on the other VR rooms. Set it and forget it?

I set this to 20.000 and never touch it again, because all vr-rooms work.

I think lately there is stagnation in vr pinball . Most popular tables are made to a large extent. I think the next step that needs to be done is to find a way to create the new modern tables from stern and jj, but I have little hope for the near future, unless the companies themselves decide to make vr versions of their tables

Next big things are "force feedback" and VPE.

Better forget about modern Stern and JJP. I guess this could end in lawsuits.

Why?

Because, you go building tables or emulating rom systems that are still of financial value to them, there's going to be repercussions

I am curious about this also, I have set it to 50000, to 20000 to 5000 and others and don't see a difference, but if one of these settings has a negative effect on performance it would be good to know.

Update, here is a reply from Toby Broyad on Facebook, Basically it's how far you can see and how far out it draws things, there's no harm having it set high and leaving it high if you have no issues as, for example, there's nothing else to draw in a minimal room, just the void...
