Ohh, thanks for the info. I know the 3d vision stuff wont work with visual pinball due to it not actually being 3d but I was hoping the standard drivers would work for future pinball. If not thats ok Im just happy to have what ravarcade has built here. I picked up a ps3 eye at a local gaming shop near work. gonna try this out tonight

You can try to run FP in normal mode.

I shoud work with 3d vision.

In future i will add stereoscopic view (3d vision) to BAM.

Interesting, I'm not sure exactly what 'normal' mode is, but I'll check it out.  Most games with 3D engines (whether designed for 3D vision or not) usually automatically launch with NVidia 3D vision enabled (and either work well or poorly), however FuturePinball never seemed to work at all with my 3D Vision setup...

ya the 3d vision has been hit and miss. For the most part games look fine. Its usualy the text and interface that look weird or dont display correctly. with future pinball not really having any interface I figured it would look good. Let me know if you happen to get it working streetpreacher. I only have a 3d projector and the bulb just went out on it.

Thanks for all your work ravarcade. It looks like you have made a lot of progress on this in just a couple months.

re: 3D Vision, yeah, almost every game works fairly well, EXCEPT the new Bioshock... I still haven't played past the first level in that game, still hoping they'll fix the 3D Vision...

I tried the PS3 Eye and was still having issues, but then I realized that my USB extension cord was causing the camera to cut out every few seconds (tested using the CL Eye Test utility....  So, it seems like it's going to work, I jus either have to move my computer, move the pinball cart, or find a higher gauge, or powered extension...  So close! :)

I got this working tonight with the PS3 camera. It really is such a great effect. It definately tricks the eye. I laughed afterwards but your totally right ravarcade, closing one eye increases the effect. I am having some issues thought with the game locking up. It happened several times while playing. Im guessing its the ps3 eye thats causing it. Every time I reboot my computer I have to unplug and replug in the ps3 eye for it to start working. I think Im going to get the wiimotes setup this weekend.

Unfoturnately it seems like of the 3 ways you can do this they all have their limitations. the ps3 eye is small and pretty easy to setup but doesnt give z axis. the kinect i think is going to be too slow to update but I'll wait and see (any word on the plugin for that?) the wiimote seems like the most accurate but seems the most difficult to setup and takes up a lot of space.  Ultimately though I think its worth the effort to get setup. Once I can have this running stable on my cab I am definately adding some tables with this setup. as it is the static camera settings alone are great. Im going to have to go back through my visual pinball tables and reevaluate if the future pinball version plays better.

And then there's the new PS4 EYE that was recently announced.  It looks similar to the Kinect (with stereo cameras), so hopefully this will be the holy grail of BAM!Vision.  And I've got a 3D projector too (the only way I'd ever watch 3D at home), and love it!  Cheap too, like $600 for the Acer H5360. ;)

ya I have a benq w700. got it on woot for 475. I was thinking the same thing about the new ps4 eye or the next gen kinect. Hopefully that will give us the accurate data we need without having wii remotes on the sides of the cabinet. As it is I am going to try to build a something I can attach to the sides of my backbox and then I can pop the wii remotes out when I want to use bam and then put them back after.

Awesome. glad to see the backbox menu added. Thanks for that.

As I mentioned before when I reboot, windows doesnt automaticly initiate the ps3 camera. So there was a couple times i tried to use BAM but when I went to switch to simple ps3 eye the program locked up and I had to force it to close. Is this what you are talking about in number 1 of your change log?

I plan on making a "calibration board" this weekend to try out the wiimote mode. Do you have a schematic for wiring that up? I know its a really simple circuit but its been a while since I have had to do anything like that. Also does it matter how big it is? what distance should the IR lights be from each other?

Thanks!

In v0.5-22 was error related to "saving" plugins params. It frequently lead to "crash". In v0.5-23 error was fixed.
Error mentioned in 1 points occurs only then user don't use PS3 Eyetoy. If on user machine was not installed drivers for PS3Eye, then on start BAM, during plugins loading, error message popup. This is now fixed.

I don't find errors You described. No other users reported errors with EyeToys. I know there is few who use PS3Eye.

Try to check "CL-Eye test" after restart to verify if EyeToy is working.

If You send me more info about Your computer i will try to reproduce error.

- OS version

- drivers version for EyeToy (if You use diffrent than latest)

- info from Windows event logs (there are sometimes detailed info about what dll make trouble)

This is my schematic:

calibration_board.jpg

I use "dvd box". This size is "handy". It can be bigger. From working distance (about 6 feet / 2m) wiimote cams see 3 feet / 1m objects. I think, than distance between leds should not be smaller than 10% of space visible to cams. The distance between leds can be different (You have to enter its in BAM menu "calibration board").
Unit are not important. If i enter in BAM values in inches i will get exactly same results. Only proportions does matter.

Thanks for that!

I will play around with the ps3 eye a little more tonight as well. Here are my specs

AMD A10 CPU

Nvidia 570 gtx

OS is Windows XP 32bit with PAE mode turned on.

I downloaded the links your provided for ps3 eye software. installed per your instructions.

The camera works in the cl eye test but if I reboot it doesnt work until I unplug it and plug back in.

I tried a bunch of searches online to see what I could find about it not initializing when windows boots but I couldnt find anything.

Any suggestions? im gonna try removing the drivers and have windows reload them. not sure what else to try.

Thank you for the update Rav.

Does this mean HP users don't need to change the exe name to Future Pinball for HP to focus correctly?

all fixed rav. I just deleted the driver from device manager and restarted. let windows reinstall drivers and then rebooted again. seems fine now. no more issue after reboot.

BTW the new interface is nice. The different font sizes make it much easier to read and find the setting im looking for. Keep it up  :otvclap:

Even if the 3d stuff isnt used the static camera alone is awesome. its so much easier now to setup tables and your static cam looks way better than any settings i have used. Im off to try out some more tables!

Its all your fault Rav! Now I have to go and replace some of my visual tables with future pinball versions! Darn you for making this awesome mod :dblthumb:

Star Trek Next Gen looks awesome. That big ass ship thing in the back just pops right out. Looking forward to seeing this thing with wiimotes this weekend.

ohh btw I had to use version 2.5.165 to get future pinball to run without crashing occasionally. On that version every thing seems fine. it takes a few seconds longer to load but its stable

No. HP users still have to rename file.

Problem is in HP.  You start a game, then HP is monitoring "process list" to check if "Future Pinball.exe" appears. If not, it stops loading and return to HP screen.

Happycab mode essentially simulates the effect without needing any camera.  You just set it up to shift the x/y/z viewpoint to shift at certain intervals, and it gives the effect that you would see by moving your head in webcam or wiimote modes.

It looks like I'll have to play around with the placement of my camera, I was trying to balance mine on top of the backglass, but yours seems to work fine sitting at table level.

Hi Rav/everyone,

As you like videos of cabs running BAM, here is my own using the PS3Eye mode. This demo shows Reel it in, Iron Man, the Goonies and Medieval Madness.

Enjoy
