BIG THANKS to DnaDisturber for all of this---I played one game on Attack From Mars VP8 (JPG) and submitted the score and the Ruler Of The Universe score (but that was automatic, I guess), and once I finally got to the database/website, there were the scores. So, IT WORKS!

I do, however have a question, having finally caught up on a month's reading in this thread and found the database that way;

is or was this the correct way to reach the database? I wonder what 'the problem' is; I bookmarked the hiscore site, so i can get there whenever I need to.....

Oh, yeah---I'm down as being crowned four times, but only did it once; should I have deleted or hidden my old nvram before doing this?

Now for anyone else with a sad computer; VP8 Awaits! Thanks again, DD!

GSGregg

Hi GSGregg,

The only way to see the hiscores is visiting the website.
Looking at the screenshot you ran pinemhi_leaderboard , that results in an error, you should always use the start_pinemhi_leaderboard executable....
But that's only for playing the games.

As for ruler of the universe.....yes i think i'm giving them away for free at the moment.... facepalm.gif
I must check the program to see what's causing this......

Did you really get the ruler of the universe...in other words did you get to put your initials in ?

To DedRokV;

What I had intended was to put a shortcut on my desktop so I could really shorten the trip (as with the Start PINemHi_Leaderboard.exe button), but the command-line goody doesn't work. I imagine I'll find an internet-shortcut icon once I get some sleep. stunned.gif

Maybe my comment was confusing; I was crowned once each in four different games. I haven't figured out how to start on subsequent Crownings---maybe I could ask DedRokV; He might know.

Only thing I can think of is :

1) Are you using windows 7 or windows vista and do you have UAC turned on ?

2)Does it take longer than 1 minute to load the table ? (every time you start a game)
Because there is a check that prevents submitting a previous score and if the table isn't loaded in a minute or so , the check goes bad.....

3)The lowerpart of the ini-file is missing ?
That would be the part under [romfind] , that could cause it (long stretch I know...)

Dna Disturber drinks.gif

1. I'm using windows 7 x64, and UAC is off
2. I cannot try right now to give you the exact time but I think it's less than 1 minute
3. I just didn't copy the lowest part of the ini file, as it's the same for everyone (no ?). U need me to copy/paste it here ?

All these troubles for my poor scores smile.gif

Ok , no need for a copy paste with the 3
I'm a bit clueless here.....maybe a new install of the pinemhi_leaderboard program to see if that works ?
Just an unzip to another location is enough and then fill the ini file again...
Hopefully that will work..

Sorry for the inconvenience.....

And there are no poor scores wink.gif as otherwise i would be part of that club whistle.gif

The way ruler of the universe works is when you enter the same initials you get re-elected....but if someone in between will put their initials in it will result in a new count.
So you made it 4 times to ruler of the universe ( not in the same game ) , but if you get multiple rulers of the universe in the same game they also count...
So dedrock got 6 in one game on his incredible game.

I think i' ll change the webpage to only say ruler of the universe instead of the number of times you got it....because there is no distinction between getting them in one game and getting them subsequently......

From memory, the vp8 version was really hard, but I havnt play it for a year or 2 .... That was a good score.
I thinlk i got 90M but it was 5 ball game. I dont take the scores from that computer.

To get re elected , just keep multiball going.

Try to leave 1 shot left to get Total Anihilation and get martian multiball instead. Then shoot the last shot to start TA while in MM.
It's a good way to keep multoball ready and alive.

Hi Guys,

I found out (thanks to Dedrok_V) that I have a little bug to fix....

2 games have the following bug at the moment:
Process is terminated due to StackOverflowException.

So I would avoid to play : (since no score can be submitted)
Medieval Madness
Fish Tales

And also there was a problem with the Addams Family where it always says "no game played"

I think I'm on the right track to squash those nasty bugs
For the addams family I already got a fix ready.

When I get MM and FT working I will post an updated version of the program.

Problem was here, I forgot the VPINMAME in the nvram path.
I got a Scared Stiff poor score now smile.gif

It looks like my computer is not powerful enough to run both the pinemhi program & VP, some tables are sluttering and almost unplayable when multiball (AFM & Tales from the arabian nights).
I don't understand, while you're playing, the pinemhi program should be "asleep" ?

Isn't it the same if and when you play the same tables in VP/VPM without to run PINemHi Leaderboard?

I don't think PINemHi Leaderboard consumes much performance, if at all. But who knows?

No, no sluttering problem when playing VP alone.

Maybe "Start PINemHi_Leaderboard.exe" loads the tables with VP settings that you don't use normally?
I don't know, but that's evetually thinkable.

I'm nearly sure DnaDisturber can answer/explain. I can't. Sorry.

This program makes me discover some tables I've never played : Starship troopers, and I'm downloading South Park now smile.gif

Too bad there is no GRONI's tables (Megapin)

EDIT : South park does not work, got a "you do not seem to have this table". The name of the file is "south park Ozpin v1.0 " (dl from here & no change).

Hi xio,

Welcome to the club
Glad to hear it's working for you.....

pinemhi_leaderboard starts vpinball the same way as you would do normally (so no different settings).
The program shouldn't use much resources , the program itself is just under 50 Kb and really doesn't do much during gameplay, the pictures make it to be a total of 600 Kb.

Maybe you had something else running in the background ?
Virusscan or maybe internet explorer/firefox or something that could cause this.

And thank you for degrading me to the "even more poor scores club" , I never got above the 16 bil. on Attack from Mars otvwimper.gif
You said you would only do poor scores. tongue.gif

you are absolutely right about southpark. I don't have the space behind it in the name in games.ini and probably also not in the database.
I will fix that with the next release.
Thanks for telling me........

Oh and there are megapins from Attack from Mars and Medieval Madness (but at the moment there is a problem with Medieval Madness though)

So, save the fourth Center Shot until just the right time? I've been waiting for the 'reset' where you start over destroying saucers, attacking Mars, etc. whtflag.gif

.....some tables are stuttering and almost unplayable when multiball (AFM & Tales from the Arabian nights).

I came across this in some thread or another; when playing numerous times on one game, it somehow gets (I would call it 'congested') and begins bottlenecking on marginal rigs, causing ball stutter and then even severe flipper lag. While a single ball and maybe a pair won't cause trouble, more balls and for longer times = Pure Hell.

Having experienced that myself, I began playing no more than two or three games before exiting and restarting; this morning's score submission was from the first and only game I played, and coincidentally things were tolerable enough for me to better my previous high (just a little, but I celebrated with a chocolate-chip cookie). rolleyes.gif

So, you might try restarting VP after your practice rounds and see if it helps. winetoast.gif

I'll try again during the week end. I think there were nothing running except FF, which is always running & didn't affect VP ?
Thx GSGregg for your tip. I had these sluttering in my first runs (I was trying the different tables that Pinemhi propose), so it might be something else.

? I did not find GRONI's AFM ?

I was thinking about Simpsons PP & LOTR. But I assume you add progressively more tables.

Also, I saw on your website that it was also working with FP but there's no FP settings in the ini file, are there 2 disctincts programs ?

Thx for your work DNA, I think this ladder is the missing thing in VP. Next thing would be to include the ladder inside VP, challenging... smile.gif

Yes, there are 2 programs.....
PINemHi , you can use this one to read out nvrams for all the hiscores...
It currently supports 892 roms for VP...and all FP's top 10 hiscore list.

It would be added in the new hyperFPlaunch for hyperpin but Blur decided to put it on hold.... sad.gif
You could see the hiscores from a game using the pause-button......
it did work and I made a flash to let the hiscores rotate turns , for instance with medieval madness where you have all those special scores....with nice fade in , fade out effects....but alas......

And you have of course PINemHi Leaderboard to keep a record of your scores online......

I found it but pinemhi does not find the table (I got "Bally - Attack from Mars - Megapin - V3.3 - VP9")
