Looking great JP used to play this one at the local bowling alley years ago, as for the flippers, why not both, after all it's only a couple of lines of script to do that.

Looks spookily fantastic JP!!! smile.gif

I've only played the real machine once so can't comment on the flipper conundrum. If there is only one playfield in play at any one time I don't see the issue of using one set of buttons.

p.s. am still working on the thing I pm'd you about, also haven;t had much time and then I go on holiday at the end of this week...

The upper playfield looks as though it almost sits directly ontop of the main playfield. Dont have a real machine to compare but looks like there are tons of videos on youtube so hopefully that helps. Also what does the light on the front of the upper playfield blink when its playing?

really looking forward to this one. Thanks JP

This looks fantastic. I never played the real HH, but can't wait to try this one.

should I use the normal buttons for the flippers and the magnasave buttons for the lower playfield flippers?

If you use the magnasave buttons, then those who have a cabinet without them will be in trouble... I'd say, just use one set of buttons. Or maybe a script option that allows selection of the magnasave or regular buttons?

QUOTE
does the left button activate the left flipper of the lower playfield or does it activate the right one?

It would be a bit confusing to use the left button to activate the right flipper.. at least it'd surely need some getting used to. I remember there is some other machine with a similar, inverted lower playfield (CFTBL or Congo perhaps?) where the lower playfield is also inverted like this one and the buttons operate the kickers or flippers on the same side.
But since I never played the real thing, I can't say how it is done on this one. If the flipper action is inverted, then it should be also inverted in the recreation.

And here it is another screenshot. I think I got the right heights for the playfields, so now I can continue working with photoshop on the playfield and plastics (this is making the lights, the GI, adjusting lightness, etc). I'm using bodydump playfields redraw, and they are perfect, but I still need to do a lot of work with them to adjust the lightning and make all those light effects smile.gif I'll do that next, I guess I'll need a couple of weeks, since I won't have much free time, but I always find at least 30 minutes a day to do something with VP smile.gif

A little about the table: I'm not using kickers to send to ball to the lower playfields, but I'm using real holes, so I hope that will give a more real feeling to the ball movement.

But I have a question about the flippers: I see in the real table that there are two set of buttons to activate the flippers. Now the question: should I do that in the table too? This is, should I use the normal buttons for the flippers and the magnasave buttons for the lower playfield flippers? If so then, does the left button activate the left flipper of the lower playfield or does it activate the right one? I ask because I can't see that in the videos I have of the table smile.gif I guess it is easier to use just one set of buttons smile.gif

Looking Awesome - As usually JP.

I recently played this at a friends house - it was awesome. The drinking and the button mix were an awesome combination. I believe that the second (magna) flippers were used on the upper playfield. Not sure when I am going back to be able to confirm.... I could email him, and see if he could explain. It would be really nice to have it work as the original did - after all that's what we usually try to do smile.gif

Let me know if you want me to try to get flipper details.
THANKS.

About the flippers: I guess I'll use both systems: one set of buttons for all the flippers, and I'll also add the magnasave buttons in case someone want to use them to emulate better the real table. This will be transparent, it will be up to the player.

Thanks to make me remember that Microsoft made that table, then I'll take a look if the lower flipper were inverted or not in that Microsoft table. I guess they made it as close as possible to the original.

And don't pay too much attention to the playfield images on the screenshot, since that's just a wip. I haven't made the plastics either. Mostly what I have done is to build the VP table, adding objects to the table and use some images for reference. I'll fix the images later (adding GI, lights, make them darker, etc)

It's too bad I wasn't into VP earlier. I had a nice set of these playfields in house not to long ago. Could have given you full size scans of all 3 and saved you a ton of work. i have a ton of scans in my system, but need someone to stitch them together so I can upload them for you guys.

JP, that looks phenomenal. Great work, can't wait to see the final product.

I think were better off with Tom's redraw. Looks better then scans. But if you have any other playfields, please share.

Another update of the progress.
In this picture only the main playfield has the Gi lights adjusted, the plastics and the upper and lower playfields are still not adjusted.
But, more or less, you can see how the table will look when finished.

I have this machine so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

(Had to go play again real fast smile.gif )
On the real machine, the 2nd set of buttons runs the upper playfield flippers during normal gameplay, and both the upper and lower playfield flippers when a ball is in the bottom. If there is no ball in the bottom playfield, the bottom playfield flippers do not activate (and the lower playfield is dark). When the ball drops into the lower playfield, it lights up and the flippers become active. Left activates left/right activates right. The upper playfield flippers also work while you have a ball in the lower playfield.

Hope that helps.

Honestly it's up to you how you configure it, as many cab owners only have 1 set of buttons. Maybe you could make an optional script line for people with only 1 set of flipper buttons? Ultimately for this machine it really doesn't make much difference as I really think they added the 2nd buttons due to technical limitations at the time, but for authenticity yes 2 sets.

BTW Looks amazing so far! Are you going to also add the spiderweb plastic cover that floats over the bottom playfield?
