Spy vs. Spy

Version: 6.2.6
Category: Future Pinball

Author(s): Rawd

Description:
Spy vs. Spy 6.2.6(small bug fix with TV video speeds)
This is my first table release. I hope you enjoy it.

You MUST make sure to have this option NOT checked. Unchecked. () No checkmark. smile.gif

Preferences -----> Editor options -------> Load image into table editor

The keys may feel backwards for you if you are playing two player mode on a pc (they were setup for cabinets). You can go into Preferences ---> Game keys and controls to change them if you like. (I find it works just as well to cross your hands over).

I started building this table 1 month and 1 day ago, with very little knowledge of the FP editor and scripting in general. I am fairly proud of what I have come up with. After downloading the hundreds of tables on my cabinet, I wanted to give back a little bit to the community that welcomed me with open arms. So... Thanks.

You are welcome to mod this table however you like. If you like the gameplay, I encourage someone to change the theme from Spy vs. Spy. There is alot of talent out there, and if modding is an easier way for you to get started learning the FP engine, then go for it. You will find however, that my script is pretty disgusting. Nothing is labeled, and everything is strewn all over the place. It kind of reminds me of my garage. So, you will learn nothing from my script.

I want to thank Grizz/Ace for all of his hours of help in making graphics, and encouraging me to keep going. UncleWilly spent 5 hours with me one night teaching my some scripting basics, and helping me with some bugs I had. Steve was there for support, and I also want to thank him for a few of the models used in the table. Rascal was also a great help with my scripting problems, and he built the cannon models with the newly released FP model importer software. Thanks to the beta testers Rossi, Grizz, Pinball Buzz, Unclewilly, Gravy. Thanks to my wife for putting up with the Spy vs. Spy music for 8 hours a day for the last 30 days. Now... I can finally get some yard work done!

What is that??? When do you get that error?

I downloaded it here and it works fine. Do you have "load image into editor" unchecked in the FP preferences?

It sounds like a winrar error? Corrupted file? Hmmm

Yes. I can't extract it with 7zip or that butcher knife one either.

I'm not sure what's happening then. It unzips fine here with winrar... Should I re-upload it another way? See if others are having problems.. Did you re-download it?

Maybe a zip, I never had any problems with zips, but then again .rar either, but this is only about the forth .rar I've tried to extract in the last 4 months. Don't worry about it tonight. Wait to see if others have a problem. I can wait a day or two. then we can find a way if we need to. In the mean time, I will download and try winrar, I'm pretty sure that is in .zip format, LOL.

I re-uploaded it as a zip (now that I understand the difference). Oh, the stupidity. smile.gif

Can I ask why? I have over 300 Future Pinball tables on my cabinet, and that option is checked and all of them work just fine? So what makes this table different that you say to uncheck that box?

It crashes if that box is checked. I think it has something to do with the amount of textures being loaded? It was happening when I was making the table, and Steve told me that I have to uncheck that option. I have a few tables that crash with that option checked. I think the Blindmankind tables all crash with it on.

I hope this is not too big of an issue. It was the only way to fit all of the textures for the movies. If someone knows a fix, I would love to hear it.

Is it? Would that fix it? I don't know how to use a library. I was going to look into that, but forgot. I guess that's what table updates are for. I will check it out. Thanks Greywolf.

Why does 3Angels crash for me with that option checked?

It crashes for you because it depends on the amount of video memory you have on your graphic card. I have a CG with 876Mo of memory and I don't have to uncheck this option. But, I remember with a previous card I had, I must disabled texture loading in the editor for some tables (pink vs blue / 3A and others - all textures "intensive" tables).

Hope it helps...

Btw, you forgot to great the author of the superb model importer tool wink.gif

And thanks a lot for this marvellous table !!!
I will try it tonight

3Angels, and my table crashes on my 2GB geforce 280GTX with the option on. I just figured everybody had it turned off anyways (because tables load 3X as quick), but this may turn into a problem. sad.gif

First let me thank you for releasing this table. It's cool to see the old 80's games back in action again. smile.gif Sorry I didn't thank you earlier.

From what I can tell, Load Images into Editor generates thumbnail previews for all the textures the table uses. With that unchecked, you can't preview any of the graphics in texture manager. Every preview image is generated as the table initially loads, so yes, with that option turned off, it will load quicker, at the cost of a minor item of functionality. Also, any plastics or table surfaces with a graphic assigned to it, as well as 'show image in editor' checked, will show up as a black texture if the image isn't loaded into the editor. For players, or users with a frontend, might as well turn that feature off - as you won't be looking at the table design or the preview thumbnails. It looks like it's a bug anyway - the preview textures should be generated on the fly, on an as-needed basis, not all at once during the table load itself. Perhaps Black will reorganize the code in a future version to make it more efficient.

I liked 300 images of the couple seemingly thousand this table has, as a library, and it still crashes with load images into editor checked. Strange 3Angels doesn't, and I fixed the others from crashing with it checked by correcting a few seemingly corrupted tga files, but this one is not cooperating, so I guess I'll just uncheck the box as directed for now. Weird.

It started happening to me when I started importing the large amount of textures for the 'videos'. It was a bit of an annoyance, because any time I wanted to play the game, I had to exit FP and come back. Anything you can think of to help out would be great Destruk. Steve mentioned that the pictures should be in powers of 2 as well. I may have to go through and resize my pictures.

It seems to work great with the option unchecked though for now. smile.gif

I can't think of any magic bullet fix for this. Hopefully you saved all the source images separate from the table - since you can only export them one at a time and delete them one at a time. I think they need to be deleted before they can be linked to a library or you'll get two copies. But you can mass import everything you want. Such is the way for the FP... smile.gif

This is an usually behavior caused by FP itself. sad.gif
There is a WIP somewhere by someone with many many Gfx (linked to a gfx.lib) in it and over 700 used parts and the problem also occurs when "load image in editor" is checked.

An additional problem: the gameroom isn't rendered propperly, only grey Furniture without texture.

The only solution is to uncheck the option "load image....." , no other way is possible (in my experience)
But who cares..... imo there is no need for this Option if you are just a player. wink.gif

Tables I have created in cooperation with Sebek74 and Slash2084: BILLION DOLLAR GAMESHOW, PSYCHO WILD WEST.
WIP: Who knows? ;-)
