Mata Hari VP9 1.02

Version: 1.0.2
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s):

Description:
Based on the SS table by Bally from 1978.
This is a conversion of my VP8 table. With new graphics and the rest of the thing I put in my VP9 tables (fading lights, nudge system and the settings).

Thanks to StrangeLeo for the backdrop.

This table has a new set of sounds and a new ball. The old sounds were based on different pc games, but this set of sounds are based on real sounds from real tables. They sound more metallic and with less bass.

JP

1.01 update 18 April 2010
- added higher walls to better guide the ball on the inlanes and the top of the table.

1.02 update 18 April 2010
- removed the comma from the score display

Mata Hari doesn't use the commas in the score displays. The comma segments shouldn't be there. When in doubt, run pinmame32 with the romset - you'll see the displays on a black background. Every segment and comma that should be there, is depicted for you in the vpm window. Just mentioning it because I told Scapino with his versions of this game and it's annoying to spend so much time getting the graphics perfect and layout and physics just right, only to overlook the displays themselves.

Build a fire, vipers love the heat.

Thanks Destruk, I didn't know that. As you know I'm not an expert in real pinball machines smile.gif
I'll change that in the next revision (there is always a next revision smile.gif ). In the meantime the image of the reels with the comma can be changed from leds2 to leds.

Lots of fun this table.

However once the ball went right through the left sidewall and
back into the plungerlane. Just to make you know.

Thanks JP.

Thanks for this. We had one at our local summer arcade but they took it out. Also special gave extra ball and 1st replay was 440 2nd was 560 and the center top kickout hole made the ball go either straight down the middle or you ran the risk of tilting.

I have updated the table to 1.01 to fix the ball jumping over some ball guides, at the top of the table and at the in/outlanes. I have updated the FS version too.

I have updated the table again to remove the commas in the score displays (thanks destruk for remind that smile.gif, I use to forgot things from time to time smile.gif )

Yes, TAB, Lady Death is a nice conversion, and since I already ade Mata Hari so it should be easy to make the conversion. So send me the pictures when you have them smile.gif

jp thank you for these updates.
mechanical sounds reflect perfection.
This table is superb.
the little jump ball in the sets is a good idea that accentuates the difficulty.

Great work JP,
I gave it a vigorous workout, and it plays great, the slings have a tendency to double up into the outlanes, which is typical for alot of pins, back then. Will have to check the updates, as I too had the ball fly into the plunger lane, and didnt notice any credits/replay value, is that something I need to set up? The pop bumpers seem real close to the target banks, and the sound that they make, though it may be real sounding is quite annoying as compared to a bell/ringing sound. I will have to try to change that in sound manager? though I never mess with stuff that changes the original concept.
I couldnt quite read the replay score values, but I did get up to around 800,000 and didn't notice a replay.
Thanks, still all and all very fun to play!!
