Hi,

I might be another guy who is asking the same question again smile.gif

Here is some of my favorites:

1. Pang (World)
2. Street Fighter
3. Shinobi
4. Shadow Dancer
5. Kung Fu Master
6. Robocop
7. Legend of hero Tonma
8. Toki
9. Golden Axe
10. Pac-man
11. Ghost & Goblins
plus more... no time to name it smile.gif

I should also mention NES game TMNT. Very special to me as it was my first touch with NES back in time.

...
You know, the vintage classics.

KOF Series (I took the liberty to consider all of them as one...)
Super Sunset Riders
Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Punisher
Super Pang
World Rally Championship (Gaelco) [I wonder when WRC2 gets the protection decrypted] biggrin.gif
Pinball Action (Highscore held @ Twin Galaxies)
Magical Drop Series
Super Sidekicks Series
Metal Slug Series

I base my preferences on the experiences i had playing in real arcades. Most of the arcades here in Portugal had the age limit of 16 years old, so i had to keep one eye on the cabinet and the other on the door in case the police decided to barge in. (Never got busted, never got fined, thank god) biggrin.gif
When i finally hit 16, the arcades started to die a slow death, most of the machines weren't being profitable, arcade operators didn't care to repair them and LAN centers replaced the thrill of coin-operated videogames. (1€ = 1 Hour of senseless killing @ Counter-Strike)
I miss spending my pocket money playing in arcades. No QWERTY will replace the throbbing of Sega Rally 2, no Modern Warfare will match the fun of Time Crisis and no Teamspeak will ever be as much fun as laughing with your friends inside a game room.

I miss the good old days.

Asteroids, Galaga, Galaxian, Space Invaders, Aliens, TMNT (Konami), too many Shmups to mention. But my favorite is Metal Slug, those games just rock! The graphics are great, and the game play is brutal! I have to give a mention, just about every Capcom fighting game, especially Xmen COTA, awesome fighter!
I don't mind being called a PINHEAD!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!

1. Gravitar (Atari) Simply the best arcade game ever with incredible depth. 100% skill and tactics,
2. Xevious (Namco) Mother of all 1st person shooter games. Still haven't completed this... I've gotten to the last area... but one day I will.
3. Star Wars (Atari) (I actually played over 30 million in the arcade version. This game screams playability and requires actual pilot skills. It's much, much harder without the yoke but I've managed to play 2.9 mil with the mouse.)
4. Stargate (Williams) I prefer this over the original Defender.
5. Space Duel (This what Asteroids Deluxe should have been. 4 cool modes... I prefer the linked ship)
6. Tempest (Atari) I doubt this requires any explanation.
7. Empire Strikes Back (Atari) Hugely underrated sequel. Very addictive. Includes a similar buy-in that Tempest has... it's not actually buy-in but you need skills to advance in later levels.)
8. Pole Position (Namco) This is the only game of the mentioned that really shows its age.... but it's still the first ever decent driving arcade game. I remember how amazing it was when it first came out... the whole arcade just stared in in awe. Those were the days...
9. Space Ace (Cinematronics) Maybe not a great game but it deserves mention because it was actually a decent interactive adventure... MUCH better than Dragon's Lair actually... without those annoying black screen clicks... and back then this laserdisc system was sci-fi. I think DL and Space Ace were revolutionary because they put 2000's graphics to a 80's technology. Not sure if this is fully emulated in MAME though... but I have the original DVDs.
10.Raiden Fighters (Seibu Kaihatsu) This is probably the best modern shooter series... I absolutely love it... fast, furious... like Xevious on steroids.

Honorable mentions:

Track & Field, Battlezone, Defender, Robotron, Asteroids, Marble Madness, Bomb Jack, Mr Do, Mr Do's Castle, Zookeeper, Phozon, Puzzle Bobble, Money Puzzle Enchanger, Bal Cube, Indiana Jones, Galaga, Major Havoc, Quantum, I Robot, Black Widow, Centipede, Missile Command.

osman : eeprom-osman.bin (128 bytes) - NOT FOUND

I get this (or don't as it were) on all the sets I tried. Which version of MAME are you using?

It looks good. It looks kind of like 8man or Strider.

That Osman game reminds me of Strider a lot.

This was one of my favourites back in the day... Xain'd Sleena (AKA: Soldier of light)

(Lots of swearing in video)
