LTD Haunted Hotel  (1983)
VPX 10.8 rev 1445 or better REQUIRED - there will not be a VPX 10.6 version
VpinMAME 3.6 latest REQUIRED

****** IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING!! ***********
This table uses 4 flipper buttons, if you do not have magnasave buttons mapped, then map them to something
your existing flipper keys will work but multiball will be less than optimal.
This is how the real table works, it will not be changed.

Yes, that really is how the multiball worked on the real machine
No, it will not be getting changed

Table script has a few user options, check them before you play, you can set the following
ROM volume, default is -12 values 0 to -32 are valid
Hide will let you hide the desktop backdrop parts if you dont like them
UseFlexDMD will display a simple scoreboard on your DMD screen, made by Scutters
Language sets the Apron text language, you got 3 choices
FlexDMDHighQuality, if you have an LCD DMD, this will give you a high resolution 256x64 pixel DMD
if you have a real DMD do NOT use that option, you dont have enough Dots, your PinDMD will not be amused

If you want a shiny metal ball, turn off logo mode, set decal to <none>
and pick the shiny environment instead of the moody one

The ROM comes in the zip, because you might not find it elsewhere until i can get someone to upload it to VPU

*************** Ok you can play now without reading the rest ***************************

Lockbar Fire changes through 20 LUT levels
LUT saves on table exit
Some monitors may require raising the environmental lighting a bit, just raise the environmental emission scale from 0.3 to 0.5 or 1.0 what ever suits your screen
but put in a coin and start the game once before deciding that the LUT levels are not bright enough

The Table does not retain credit or high scores on exit, the controller was either incapable of doing so or VpinMAME does not have the required information to emulate it
It is not a bug

There is no fancy GI lighting here, the table actually did not have any outputs left to run more than 1 channel of GI lighting, which was for the cellar
So the all the upper Playfield lighting simply goes off when the game is over.

Table features 3 levels of playfields, and a very unique multi ball mode where you play all 3 playfields at the same time

Table does have an FSS mode, for anyone who plays in that fashion or wants to maybe convert it to VR (it actually has a full cabinet)

Gameplay rules are on the apron, they are 4k vector text so you can read them, and i made them light up so you can read them in the dark even.

Table comes with a B2S backglass, but someone please, make a new proper vector art glass, the included one is just an unskewed photo of the original on a black 16:9 background
You can mod this directB2s for the LED and Lamp values.

This table is the result of over a year of work, and is sort of a combined effort of those listed as authors
whether they were actually willing participants or not is another story, but all listed played some part directly or indirectly in the table coming into being.
Which began with getting the ROM to actually work in VpinMAME, which you dont want to hear about because it is long and boring.

Read table info or the table embedded notes to find out who is guilty of what

Table Code and Objects are freely open for modding and i have even included data on the ROM and VpinMAME
including switch, solenoid and lamp matrices

BUT

The graphics are NOT mine except for some small parts i did, they were hand made by Predator
You need to ask him about reusing the graphics, do not re-use his artwork without his permission

Fun Fact
This table in raw form is 4.2GB including all the research materials

UPLOAD IT TO VPD AGAIN AND I PULL THE TABLE AND NO MORE UPDATES

Finally go time to play it !
Thanks guys. Plays very good and smooth.

Are there any settings for the dipswitches ?

I cannot get my 1st credit chute to work only chute 2

I cannot find them in the manual that is attached.

Is it possible to have Scutters flexDMD implemented on this ?
With Freezy's dll, my DMDv3 is flashing like crazy

It sounds almost like you are trying to run with vpx 10.6 ? which does not support that function
you could comment out line 127 but your going to get a mostly white table, you need 10.7

Are there any settings for the dipswitches ?

I cannot get my 1st credit chute to work only chute 2

I cannot find them in the manual that is attached.

I have a feeling that your 1st coin chute is actually coin chute 3?

the ROM only sees one coin switch because they only had one input left on the controller, all the others were used

Can you tell me what your vpmkeys.vbs from the scripts folder looks like in this area (yes i have 3 coin slots and they equate to numpad keys, slots 1 and 2 work for the table)

Const keyInsertCoin1	 = 79   '(Numpad 1)		Insert coin in slot 1
Const keyInsertCoin2	 = 80   '(Numpad 2)		Insert coin in slot 2
Const keyInsertCoin3	 = 81   '(Numpad 3)		Insert coin in slot 3

And tell me what input does your coin 1 send? (joybutton, keyboard key, which button/key)

I'll figure you out an answer based on what info you give

There are dipswitches, though we do not have documentation on them and this controller and Pecman are either massively modified LTD4's or they are entirely unique LTD controllers, used on only two tables
Neither of which do we have full docs for :(
But both tables have only 1 coin slot switch, so no dips for that unless it is coins per play as there are no slots to switch around

Is it possible to have Scutters flexDMD implemented on this ?
With Freezy's dll, my DMDv3 is flashing like crazy

I did a rudimentary test

Yes, it would work

digits 1 - 6 = player 1 score

digits 7 - 12 = player 2 score

digits 13 - 18 = player 3 score

digits 19 - 24 = player 4 score

digit 25 = coin

digit 26 = ball

digits 27 - 32 = cellar scoring bonus

All are 7 segment LEDs, 6 digits per line

So he would need

L1Chars = Array(" "," "," "," "," "," ")
L2Chars = Array(" "," "," "," "," "," ")
L3Chars = Array(" "," "," "," "," "," ")
L4Chars = Array(" "," "," "," "," "," ")
L5Chars = Array(" ")
L6Chars = Array(" ")
L7Chars = Array(" "," "," "," "," "," ")

And scutters can leave L7 off the display entirely, it is the cellar display which is on the table itself, so it does not need to be on a DMD

He can probably use an existing dictionary, i am sure he has one that accounts for 4 scores and a single digit coin and ball counter?

The dictionary in his example seemed to match up

this wont display right with just use software DLL, because for one there are too many lines for freezys to translate, does not fit on DMD
And it does blink because thats what the LED controller is doing, but because of the fact the display is not translated right to begin with it probably comes out even worse in a PinDMD
on an LCD you just get mostly nothing.

If scutters wants to put something together, i will update the table to include it
I will already have to update it for the final apron graphic, and a small script change cause i found something during FSS play that was a bit annoying

My VPMkeys.vbs is the default one, from the latest 10.7 RC

Const keyInsertCoin1	 = 4   '(3)		Insert coin in slot 1
Const keyInsertCoin2	 = 5   '(4)		Insert coin in slot 2
Const keyInsertCoin3	 = 6   '(5)		Insert coin in slot 3
Const keyInsertCoin4	 = 7   '(6)		Insert coin in slot 4

And in VPX I map my Add credit to Joy8 (50 Cents) and add credits 2 to Joy9 (1 euro)
I ty to setup most of the games to 1 credit for 50 cents and 2 games for 1 euro.

Normally it is just for these old tables dip switch setting (well softwrae dip switches), but because this is a rare table, not much info about it.

Let me as ask him friendly.

He helped me last weekend with a lot of code for some new features to databasemanager .
So maybe I already asked too many favors from him already :)

And maybe I need to dig in to it as well, as I have a lot of tables I would like to change to flexDMD ('Do a Scutters' I call it)

that is because the link to ROM says Internal in Zip
because i cant upload ROMs here, and could not get it up on VPU and it isnt in IPDB
and this ROM might be hard to find for most people.

Heh i have a bunch of PM's saying no ROM
nobody looks at the zip file and sees there is a visual pinball\vpinmame\ROMS\hhotel.zip i guess?

here is my setup, you saw my VPM keys above

here is vpx setup, note that add credit is joy button 4, and the keyboard key matches what i have in vpmkeys.vbs

it might matter? so you would want 4 mapped in vpx is you do not

because mine is working with the above on desktop
and also works on laptop which has a different key layout due to no numpad so different vpmkeys.txt

Excellent job!

reviving such a table is very difficult due to the lack of available material and information. congratulations!

If there is an update, check the left flipper on the top table, which is different from the others... I tried to change it through the editor but I couldn't... lol

One more observation:

The top and bottom flippers work with additional buttons correct? Is it possible to configure them to work on the same buttons as the left and right flippers?

hugs
