Hi folks,

Apologies it comes so late, but I only recently noticed that Appveyor shortened the artifact life time from six to one month only. So time for a release, I guess. ;)

There are two new main features, which is awesome DMD rendering on monitors by Vincent, and Future Pinball support by MrMoose74. If you haven't already, check out our styling contest thread, and Terry's guide for Future Pinball.

Thanks a million to Vincent and MrMoose, you did brilliant work. Also thanks to wiesshund and Benji for your styles, they are included in the release.

As usual, you can download dmdext from the official release page. If you're not into the installer, be sure to copy the dmdext folder into your VPM folder if you want to use one of the presets that use textures. It's documented here.

Enjoy!

Can someone more experienced that I explain how to install this - get it working. It's been a while, and I have no idea where to start.

Thanks
===============================
FYI - for anyone having issues getting this to load, and have right click settings... I ended up having to install the x86 version instead of the x64 version.

Yes, I am using VPX only - in Desktop view, if that matters. Thanks

just  put the dmddevice.dll in the vpinmame folder

and the dmddevice.log.config
i forget if 1.9 needs a fresh start on the dmddevice.ini as it has more options
try it with your existing one 1st, and if it does not like it, then back it up and copy the one from the zip file to the vpinmame folder also

You can do nifty stuff with 1.9, like this

Even break your DMD like this

...or just use the installer. Basically, the zip release is for people who know what they are doing, while the installer is the click-and-forget solution. You seem to be a candidate for the latter. ;)

Hey freezy,

thanks a lot to you and all people involved. Got it working flawlessly and tested a few games without problems.

IF something pops up I'll report back :)

Thank you!

Kind regards.

Thanks Freezy & to everyone else involved  :otvclap:

Will this save my old DMD Positions & size when I overwrite the old files?

You should backup your .ini file - the informations are stored in there.

If you simply overwrite it i think you'll loose these informations and need to move/resize all over again.

I think the ini is the only place these informations are stored.

Save a copy of your configuration file. I then opened the new one and compared it to the old one. I cut and pasted from old to new the things specific to my setup. For example DMD coordinates and size, Data East DMD sizes etc.

Those are being kept in the DMDDEVICE.INI so make sure you have a backup of that file.

Edit: sorry was already answered, I did not refresh the page before posting  :stunned:

I got it working finally. After banging my head against the wall for a whole day, I finally tried the x86 version and it worked. For some reason, the x64 version didn't work for me.
I really like Antisect's overlay...

I would suggest adding that one to the folder in the download, with the other examples.

The 64bit version wont work, unless you are running 64bit vpx, 64bit vpinmame and 64bit b2s server

See Freezy's first post, where is has a link to "styling contest thread".

There are a couple nice ones posted in there. And a great border, by the user antisect, that is not in the Freezy download. I use it as my main DMD border in desktop view.
Here is a direct link to the DMD border II am talking about... https://www.vpforums...=46214&p=473739
