LTD's Haunted Hotel

Based from, but not identical to Gottlieb's Haunted House.
Different modes and rules, somewhat different table layout and table features

Art varies from totally copied from Gottlieb, to copied but recolored to mostly modified.

 

Table uses no assets from VPX haunted house

 

The table presently has no graphics.
Only stand in graphics used presently using photo documentation from Carlos Guizzo

 

Table is mechanically functioning properly with the ROM

 

Mechanical demo video done from laptop, so both the video quality, and the VPX display quality are lacking
and the table was running sub 30 fps during capture because i upped the video settings in VPX just below the point where it would 

no longer play, i didnt want the video capture to look too janky.

 

Not coming any time soon, it still has some issue to work out that are not gameplay related, and obviously it need graphics worked on

(which some are in progress by predator)
but here is a very quick demo of the table running

Fast? LOL

No, not fast, it has taken a while to even locate schematics to work from

 

And the table depicted is an approximation, built off the diagrams from the schematic
there may be some positional discrepancies

 

It's kind of neat though in that it has a physical ball trough.
Balls are never created or destroyed (except when it loads, obviously balls get created)
 

 

Almost 0 code for the ball handling, aside from having the ball handlers kick when the solenoids engage.

 

But this is totally devoid of graphics, what is has now is terrible, from a vpx table stand point (and from a photoshop skills standpoint)

It has no fancy lighting routines, though the real deal actually has no fancy lighting to speak of, so that is kind of OK

Does look very good, even with the placeholder graphics. Gottlieb's Haunted House is my kid's favorite table, and I'm sure he'll love this one when it comes out

some more work, and a partial test graphic, a portion of the playfield has been redone in vector ,not by me, predator is working on redrawing all the graphics

 

I did make the spider web though LOL

 

 

Main and lower playerfields have been realigned as predator was able to deskew the photos to reference mark all the attachment points for the playfield hardware.
Nothing done to plastics yet, their shape is wrong, well not wrong but distorted, out of proportion kind of.
Nothing done to upper PF yet, some of the rubber bands will go, after a i have straightened reference marks to make wired ball guides with, not all those bands belong there

If you need anything from my table use away.  I know they are different, but might be close enough is some places?  I know the plastic images are different, but wonder if the shape might be the same?  I'd had plastic scans and my models should be fairly accurate.  Might help lining things up (I know they did for me)

Some of the plastics are differently shaped
And the playfield layout is somewhat different, and the playfield has no holes entering the lower level

 

The cellar and upper playfields might have same plastics shape, or close anyways, will have to compare some pics

Some of this table is going to drive people bonkers

Some of the bonuses and multipliers are totally random

Nothing new to show at the moment

Have done a lot of re-aligning of table parts and some other little things

but nothing to really take a screenshot of yet

PinMAME does not support fast flips for this ROM (Or any LTD rom)

so i made a simple fast flips option that checks that it is valid to move the flips 1st, it will be a user option to use it or not though

I say simple but the flipper routines are now like 2 pages long

 

got a chance to work from my desktop, which has a real GPU as compared to my laptop which doesnt, so i was able to work on some lighting, and get some screen shots that are actually at some kind of resolution beside post card
and actually has FSAA relections and lighting etc.

also messed with bending up wire ball guides, so they stick into the table and not just float in mid air, blender models might have been easier, except i am no good with blender

Made some new temporary bumper caps, until the real art is created

also worked on the ROM controlled flippers some more, think they are about as good as i can make them

but the kinda generic fast flips do seem to work

 

Oh, it has changeable LUT levels, which is what you see in the upper left corner

that fades away 2 seconds after adjusting it

Just a few screen shots, that hopefully are not too low of resolution, they are from my laptop, so even cranking up video settings to max is not exactly impressive

for the 9fps it results in

 

Added prims for the flippers and made a stab at doing the texture for them myself, pretty simple so not like i can screw it up much

Was not sully happy with how the insert lighting would wash out the detail of the insert Predator drew, so reworked that.

Added subtle shadows for the main flippers and a ball shadow that follows the ball on the Z axis

 

A bit more of the playfield is repainted, look close, you can see the new playfield materializing over top of the photos being used as stand in

and Predator worked on some of the main playfield plastics as well on the lower right hand side
