Hi there!
I hope you can help me, I am trying to run VPVR on my Latitude E5450 laptop.
Specifications:
i5 5300U
Intel HD Graphics 5500.
Windows 10 64 bit
Since I do not own any "proper" VR headset, I would like to use Trinus.
I have installed Trinus SteamVR driver, SteamVR home is playing properly on my adjustable cardboard headset through Trinus.
I downloaded VPX 10.6 and VPVR 2020-12-28 and Addams Family VR ROOM for testing.
VPX plays correctly.
When I start any VR table in VPX (since autodetect is selected) and SteamVR is not yet running, it asks me to start it, then I get "GLAD failed" error.
I understand this might be a driver problem, I downloaded the latest from Dell's support page:
Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver_3PV49_WIN_20.19.15.5126_A11_02.EXE
Since Windows has replaced it with some older one.
But still no luck.
What else should I try out?
Is it possible it won't work with an integrated graphics card like this?
Or maybe altogether this laptop is not powerful enough for VPVR, and first I should build a PC?
Thanks in advance!
Yours is a about 2 generations newer but still in the same class as far as DeLL laptops go.
I have an E5430
I5 3230m
HD 4000 integrated graphics
And VR is not something it is going to do, the i5 wont be able to feed the VR enough frames, even IF i could get the drivers to work
Yours is a bit better, it is a couple generations newer, but it is the same laptop class.
It is built for business use and such.
You would be better of just playing VPX normal
and picking and choosing your tables, some will run good, some will run on the laggy side due to no GPU
VP9 tables, and there are some very good ones, will run absolutely perfectly.
Do the new 5400s still allow the screen to be folded down totally flat?
If so, you could spin the laptop sideways and play in rotated cabinet view
You could also press control alt right arrow and rotate windows too.
I do that with mine as you see in the pic.
So while this laptop wont be optimal, and probably will not do VR
You can still have a lot of fun with it by picking a mix of vp9 and vpx tables
Also you will need to probably run fairly low video settings for best performance
and dont set the max texture size too high, probably 1 or 2 k
It will also help to set vsync to 2
