File Name: Warlok (Williams 1982)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 14 Sep 2019

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1982
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the table by Williams from 1982.

All graphics redrawn by me. The graphics are 4k in size, so the table should look nice in a cabinet :) The FS is setup for cabinet use.

I have not added any extra things to the table, just the glowing eyes on the playfield. The rest is more or less what Williamd did.

Thanks to Carlos Guizzo for suggesting this table, so this table is for you :)

Does anybody knows how I can change the coins chutes on this Williams table ? I receive now 3 credits on my left coin chutes and 9 credits on my right one.
According to the manual, dip switch 19-25 can control this, but hitting F6 I don't have so many dipswitches

Just watched a YouTube video without knowing about this release.. Made me think, “Physics look extra great. I wonder if this is an example of JP’s new and improved.” It appears so! You can see the difference even on video. Looking forward to playing later today.

Yes, I have used my "new" physics, or better said the first physics I made for VPX, with some changes due to the experience from all these years making VPX tables :)

JP,

VPX feels like a whole new experience with these physics. I love them! The flippers feel fast and smooth. I especially love that they have plenty of power at the tips. Flick passes have never felt better. From cradle, you can generate enough momentum with micro flips to get the ball rocking enough to set yourself up for a backhand. When the ball is rolling down the inlane, you can even flick the ball back toward the inlane / sling to capture it for a cradle from same flipper. Not sure if I described that well, but I see it done all the time on real machines, but kinda rarely in VPX.

Wrd1972 I think was one of the first to point out that there's often not enough side to side or "east / west" ball movement in VPX. I think we've made tons of improvement over the last couple of years, but this table really sends the ball careening around in every conceivable direction. The layout is made for that, but these physics really give you a "ball is wild" ride! Love it.

The redrawing work you've done here (and on countless others) is beautiful!

Wildman has a backglass for y'all if you're looking for one. VPUniverse...

Thanks to Carlos Guizzo for his suggestion. I'd never even heard of this classic table! Haven't looked it up yet, but seems to share some DNA with Time Fantasy era?

I probably shouldn't say it, but I can't resist: Would love to see your new arcade physics ported to some of your other classics if you feel inspired to do so at some point!

Ah.. no. Similar maybe but not the same. Plenty of differences to make it a completely different experience.

Thanks for bringing this to life JP!

I updated a few of my tables a few weeks ago, with the same physics, but maybe the flippers weren't as good as in this one, you'll find the tables with the name DT since they were mostly desktop tables out of the zip file :) . Everyday I keep changing the flipper settings :) But these last settings are a keeper :) I'll update most of my tables with these settings, but also with my new set of materials, environment image, surround sound. I wanted to learn a little more about Blender, but I'm a too old dog to learn more tricks :) Maybe later when I retire from work :) Anyway the screen is flat, so why do I need 3D objects for ;)

I knew I had seen that layout before :)

I have searched a a better DIP switch routine, but I couldn't find it. I'm not good making these routines, Inkochnito was the one who made almost all of them in the old tables :)

And thanks you all for your compliments :)

Not exactly. "Blackout" has a kickout hole. "Warlock" hasn't.
