File Name: Tales from the Crypt (Data East 1993)_Bigus(MOD)

File Submitter: bigus1

File Submitted: 20 Aug 2019

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Author(s): Bigus1, freneticamnesic, 32assassin
Manufacturer: Data East
Year: 1993
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

This fun Data East table is from freneticamnesic and 32assassin.
I've given it a full makeover and livened it up. MultiBall is a hoot :)
3.0 is the first version to work properly. The ball handling was a daisy-chain of workarounds that
made it playable, albeit poorly, so I've written new script that works like the real machine. Also needed
a playfield mesh to get it working correctly and the mechanical sounds properly set up, plus repaired
wire ramps and other prims. I managed to pot 5 balls into holes simultaneously - couldn't do that before!
So no more constant missing balls, ball searches or failed games!
Enjoy :)

For my taste, the lights of the original version are better, because you can see the individual bulbs under the playfield.

Thank you for the table. Nice work as always.

One question. Why are your tables so big in the desktop view. Smaller looks mucher better.

Lots of compromises with VP.  A lot like driving simulators really. Pretty aprons are nice, but I can't play that part and screen space is limited. And every part of lights is a compromise, so I favor brightness over bulbs for the inserts because the former looks closer to the vids that I watch for reference. Modern machines aren't dull.

And when I'm in the throes of a 6 ball multiball, I prefer to have a bright light in the corner of my eye to target :)

Sorry, I don't speak French... but you need this ROM file in the VPinMAME roms folder for the table to work.

Trouvé en cherchant dans différents forum

Il faut aller dans la fenêtre video de vp10, aller sur le champ Fullscreen puis décocher force exclusive fullscreen mode

Voilà si cela peut aussi aider quel qu'un à qui cela arrive...

Thanks for the update. My tombstone is exhibiting some peculiar behavior as it raises and lowers. It sometimes becomes invisible

Thanks again for all the tables this week.

I concur about the tombstone when a game is started (Im playing in a cab so I dont know if this happens in desktop mod) but the tombstone raises up when game starts and then suddenly vanishes leaving a hole in the playfield.

Plus I cant get the ball to ever go up the metal ramp on the mid right of playfield behind DOUBLE JACKPOT - with the red light above it. No matter how hard I hit it, the ball never loops up into the metal slide rails.

Great table and fun to play. Hope you can fix the above described on an update soon.

Thanks for all the work involved.

Very nice...thanks bigus1

My prefered desktop POV attached...I have over the years found a slightly greater FOV vs Inclination in desktop view lends itself to a better view of the top of the table and yes a compomise as it does restrict the overall rendering size somewhat and I do like to see all of the instruction cards at the very least.

Ce n’est jamais une bonne solution si on doit enlever l’option “Exclusive full screen”.  Es tu certain qu’il n’y a pas d’autres details dans le message d’erreur?

Good post StevOz.  A reminder to all that views are always a personal preference.  If you don’t like it, it’s very simple to change it, especially with the F6 camera option when launching VP.

Thanks for the update @bigus1, ( and of course to previous authors 32assassin and Fren )

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.
