Have followed instructions on how to setup freezy's dmdext 1.72 by copying DmdDevice.dll , DmdDevice.ini and DmdDevice.log.config. and have attempted to patch AC/DC Limited edition rom (acd_168h) with its colour patch (acd_168hc_ByPinballMikeD.diff). I then zipped the bin file and placed it in vpinmame rom directory however when I load acdc table it says that it can not find the rom in the rom directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked in the table script if the rom file name loaded is correct?

You can also try loading the rom directly from VPINMame (setup - Test) and check if it works.

1.7.2 has color bug - you need 1.7.1 of dmddevice currently and 1.7.2 of dmdext if you play eg FX3. Rom needs to zipped - just like any other rom. If the test button via setup.exe doesn't give you what you want. They VP can't work.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I copied 1.71 dmddevice into vpinmame with 1.72 dmdext and when I load the table it still comes up saying vpinmame couldnt find the rom. It also does the same thing when I run it as a test through vpinmame. Could there be a problem with the colour patch itself?

Yes. You need subfolder altcolor/<romname> and into that you put two files that I can't name here because of stupid imo forum rules.

I have followed your color rom setup guide Outhere but am still having the same problem. I patch the two files put it in my rom directory and it say the rom cant be found when loading table. when I patch the two I name the bin file acd_168h like the game name, I then zip it and put it I rom directory is there any problem there. It runs fine with normal rom. I have color paletes in my alt color folder in vpinmame and a separate colder named after the game name with a pin2dmd pal file in it is there anything elese I should be putting in there maybe? really want to get to bottom of this so help is much appreciated.

Have you checked in the table script if the rom file name loaded is correct?

Have you changed the rom name in the script to match the color rom name?

Is the color rom working with vpinmame setup - test?

Are you using the latest vpiname release on the "other site"?

The colour rom patch name is acd_168hc and original game name acd_168h should I be changing it to the colour rom patch name. It currently doesnt work when I run test in vpinmame

The pathced rom name must be "acd_168hc.zip" and you have to put this value inside the table script instead of the normal rom name. I also suggest you to test the rom directly from vpinmame (be sure to match the exact rom) to exclude other problems.

The bin name is ---->  acd_168hc.bin

Zip up to ---> acd_168hc.zip

Change table script to --->  acd_168hc

@outhere always gives great advises. Once you've done what he wants you to I'm sure it is already working. If not. take note when you test the rom. Have a look at why pinmame test isn't working. You can look at what pinmame says about it. If it is showing you a size of 0 for the rom. Then it is something seriously wrong. Is it only a filesize being wrong ? You need to turn off CRC check validation. For official roms, we already know exactly what the content should be. Pinmame expects and denies you access to the best fruits, if you don't give it chocolate and flowers by pressing that button for patched roms ;-)

Have followed all you instructions @outhere the table itself is now searching for the right rom name (coloured rom) however it is still saying it cant find it even after patching as you said. It says the rom set name is acd_168hc and that it cannot be found in the rom directory. it then shows that in the rom file there should be acd_168hc bin and these are the details for the bin file that show up Type: cpu , Length: 125829104 , Actual: 0 , Checksum: 0x5A4246A1 , Actual: 0x00000000 , State: Not available

Anuthing wrong there if so please tell it does the same thing when I run it as test when I run test with the original rom and game name it works perfectly.

You have to set DMD position and size in the dmddevice.ini:

; x-axis of the window position
left = 0
; y-axis of the window position
top = 0
; width of the dmd in monitor pixels
width = 1280
; height of the dmd in monitor pixels
height = 320

Hi brendobarnett, I'm having same issue. Game not found when trying to run patched acd_168hc.zip. Cant test directly from vinmame because cant find acd_168hc rom in the game list.

Did you solve it ?
