So we know Zen and Steam will deliver us all the opportunity for Wiliams tables shortly (yay and nice).  We don't have a release date yet, but it will come.

I am committed to trying to keep the force feedback, B2S backglasses and MX LEDs alive for FX3 via DOFLinx when the new release comes out.  I have no idea if it is possible, how long it might take, etc, but will be working on it.  In fact I am making some of my tools more robust already in preparation.  To complicate this a bit more I'm about to head off on a six week holiday and will not be able to work on this until early November, if its released by then.

Until that time I suggest people who want to keep force feedback in FX3 alive do the following;

  1. Take a copy of your current FX3.EXE to somewhere safe and name it clearly as the "old" version  (do this now before a new FX3.EXE is released and over writes it)
  2. When the new FX3 release comes along, take a copy of that FX3.EXE and label it appropriately
  3. Copy in the old FX3.EXE if you want force feedback, then the new FX3 if you want the Williams tables

DOFLinx will recognise the new FX3.EXE as a version it has not seen before and simply not enable the link.  When the old FX3.EXE is put back DOFLinx will recognise it and the link will be enabled.

Exciting times !

The new FX3 release of yesterday that announces the Han Solo tables already killed the Doflinx connection :(.

Thanks senseless, all tested.  The DOFLinx update to handle the FX3.EXE of 14/9/18 has been uploaded (V 6.50) and I'm sure will be released shortly.

wow..you are getting faster with these updates. Not to spoil the party, but i read in forum earlier that a new patch will be here in a day or two to address a bug in one of the new tables.

out of curiosity, does a new fx3 update ALWAYS mean you need to change doflinx? or can some updates not break it?

Sadly its almost certain.  DOFLinx does now report if the FX3.EXE is one it doesn't recognise, so at least its more obvious for us.

A quick update .... Working on the FX3 version with Williams tables now.  Current news is good.  Testing the normal FX3 force feedback now and ready to have a look at the new Williams tables.

Great news, will setup again just for this as I really can't play virtual pinball without force feedback anymore, no matter how good it looks.  You are doing great work, thanks

@dom69, looks like you are not running the latest DOFLinx.exe.  Check the version at the top of that same log file and ensure it says 6.51

There is something wrong with your FX3.EXE it should be 18214544 bytes.  DOFLinx can't find a valid match so is not trying to connect.  Perhaps try reloading it from Steam.

The FX3.EXE comes from Steam.  Have a read of the Steam support forum about forcing a reload of the FX3 program.  I believe you can simply delete (rename) FX3.EXE.  Of course, as always, backup well before doing such things.

I was on holidays, but I believe there was a an 8th October version followed by a 10th October version, note sure if you've still got the 8th October.
