This is BEACH BUMS!!

Hey all, thank you to everyone on this awesome site for giving me the opportunity to share my table. So, since this is my first attempt at anything Visual Pinball, please go easy on me. lol. *gulp*
First of all, a short backstory to why I even did this in the first place... A few years ago, I bought a real Fascination cocktail pinball called "Roy Clark, The Entertainer". Nothing against Roy Clark
(and Hee Haw), but I decided I wanted to refurbish and re-theme the table (see before and after pic). The theme itself was based off of my favorite slot machine IGT's "Catch-A-Wave". There
were only 2000 plays on this table when I bought it and it played perfectly. Unfortunately, after re-theming it and putting it back together, it doesn't work anymore. :( I don't know what I did, and
I've had pin techs come look at it, but still can't fix it. Anyway, backstory aside, I decided to use all my original artwork, along with new artwork, and models, to bring you a VPX version of my
theme and here it is!

I'd like to thank everyone for helping me make this table possible...

*First and foremost, I want to thank BorgDog for his original Hollywood Heat table, and for letting me mod it to begin with.
*Thank you again, BorgDog, for all your scripting guru knowledge and help (and for your patience) :)
*Thank you xenonph for all your help from the very beginning. Couldn't have done it without you too.
*Thank you Hauntfreaks for your B2S help!
*Thank you Flupper1 for your awesomely beautiful ramp.
*And a HUGE thank you to the VPX and VPM developers, who make this all possible!!

Note: Beach Bums uses a slightly modded "hlywoodh" rom for scoring. It is included in this file, although it will interfere, if you have an existing HH rom, sorry :(. Also included is background and bonus music MP3's that will need to install in your VPX music folder. Don't forget to turn off all original HH sounds, changeable in the script, to hear the included MP3's and such.

Thank you to everyone and I hope you all have as much fun playing this table as I did making it.

Your friend in pinball,
watacaractr.

Now this is what I'm talking about!! This is like totally gnarly dude!!

I love the summer theme you have going here...the surf music really fits the sea/surf theme of the table, the beach sounds in attract mode sound awesome too. Love the backglass and all the flashing lights. I'm drawn like a moth to a flame with that. The playfield art is amazing too...don't know who did it but its awesome. Very talented artist...goes without sayin'. Two thumbs up dude. There are  alot of

really cool subtle details going on here if you pay attention.....like the animation of the surfer when he shouts out "cowabunga" or "I'm stoked". Very clever. also love the unusual sounds when you hit the 1,23,5,6,7 playfield targets....also,I swear I hear bongos in there somewhere when playing. Very period like. The captive ball into the Sugar Shack is very cool and an irrisistable target.Decals on the ramps, palm trees, surfers and sharks...now that's summer where I come from!(Wisconsin)

Having the ROM modified to suit the table is really nice too. She plays like a dream....ball physics seem spot on and I cant stop looking at all the cool art details on the playfield. Who did the art??

This baby is an instant classic,it has a  real professional and polished look and feel to it.I find myself smiling the whole time I play it.Really fun stuff! Shes going to get alot of play on my cabinet, that's for sure.

You and the team have really put a fabulous package together here.

Thanks very much for sharing this!!

Cowabunga dudes!!

@Johngreve... NOW THAT'S A REVIEW! Hey John, all of the art was originally done by me for my real pin. I basically used my old art, and mixed it with my new art and models.

I had ALOT of scripting help along the way (thx again Borgdog & xenonph).

Thank you John for all your compliments. I'm glad you enjoy it! I enjoyed making it.

Keep on playing pinball!

Brian

I love reviewing original tables......you guys pour your heart and souls into them, I recognize that and wish that I could sit down with those that do and learn the process. In the meantime I’m going to continue to heap praise on those that do. Once again.....awesome work!

Yeah, there are certain times that there are no ball rolling sounds. The ambient BG ocean/seagull sound does hide this a little.

Well done. This reminds me of Bubba the Redneck werewolf table themed for the beach. Yes,I realize it’s actually Hollywood but it’s been transformed.
Lots of attention to detail in every respect. What wows me is this is your first table!

If there was a respect button on this page, I’d be pushing it right now.
Kudos to you and the team that brought this to life.

Great table. One of my favorites. However with pinup player installed when I launch Beach Bums the animated BG and music for Tom and Jerry play. Removed T&J table and glass but that didn’t help.

Beach Bums plays fine if the pinup system folder is removed

Is there a fix or at least does anyone know where the T&J video and music files are located?

Thanks. You linked to the T&J rom is that correct ? Or is the top rom in the list for Beach Bums ?

I think I am using the T&J rom already but will check

Dont think I want to tackle nailbusters script changes......

Failing to get this to work , where can I find the T&J pup pack on my machine so I can remove it and stop it from playing on top of Beach Bums.....I can always drop the pack back in if I want to play Tom and JERRY..

reloading the roms didn't fix the issue with the T&J video and music playing when Beach Bums is launched. Would appreciate knowing where to find the T&J PUP pack if at least temporarily I want to remove it.

Also should I decide to try option 1 from nail buster , do I do it only on Beach Bums ?

Thanks

my son who is such more PC literate got it to work using nailbusters method #1...... Thanks

BTw besides Beach Bums and Bubba the Werewolf are there any other games that need to be changed to keep T&J's pup pack from loading......
