File Name: Safe Cracker (Bally 1996) VPX 10.4

File Submitter: fuzzel

File Submitted: 23 May 2018

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): fuzzel

rothbauerw
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1996
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Here is Bally's SafeCracker from 1996.

There seems to be a problem with the upper ABC lane triggers in this game. Sometimes they don't trigger as expected so we think it might be an emulation (VPM) issue.
You can win multiple magic tokens in a game. But instead of pushing an extra button to start the 'Assault Mode' every new game will automatically start the special mode until you run out of tokens.

First , big thanks to fuzzel, Roth, Flupper, Hauntfreaks fabulous job.

Anyone know what triggers the topper to light up? is a solenoid or a light?

I believe it's a solenoid.  Try 26 - the manual states "Top Light and Motor"

Congrats on this very good and awaited table, thanks.

A question. The FSS mode is included on the table? I have seen an options on the scrypt but dont know how to use it, if I check the FSS view on VPX I only see a black screen, the DT mode works fine with the backglass model, nice addition.

By the way, the bank model primitive is not tagged as static on purpose?

great looking table .. the ball is getting stuck ( magnetized ) on top above the left roll over, I could not even nudge it loose. This after 1 minute of play.. This seems to be a trend on new vpx tables , same issue on creature from the black lagoon..i wonder why nobody is reporting on this how can such a great problem be overlooked and the table released? On both of them.. No Offence , just saying. Im a software developer myself and i know there is nothing worse than a user encountering a bug within a minute of using your software..

well the reason for 'overlooking' this problem is simple: it didn't happen on our machines ;) What version of VPX do you use? 10.4 final or some 10.5 beta? If you use the current beta you should take the newest version available.

You might be hitting the 'C' key and enabling manual ball control.  Try disabling manual ball control in the script by changing changing line 23 to false:

Const EnableBallControl = false

Yes, the bank model is non-static on purpose because in FSS mode, depending on the pov settings, the kicker shows through the bank.

To use FSS, both the FSS mode and Test Desktop check boxes must be checked.  The order in which you check them matters as well.  Check the FSS mode check box first, then the Test Desktop check box.

You may want to adjust the pov setting some.  One suggestion would be to set the layback to -100.
