FanTasTic Table release .. this Silverball Mania .. would be a good candidate for UltraVP as well .. a nice looking 'Active Backglass' to give it 'The Cherry On The Cake' of this Fine Art Quality Table! wink.gif

Thanks again!

Very nicely done guys, the lights reflecting on the ball works quite well, probably better than attempting a full playfield reflection I think as the on/off nature of lights lends itself well to the switching ball texture.

Many thanks, table looks, sounds and plays great.

You guys did a really nice job on this table. Excellent work on the graphics and gameplay and I like the style of lighting on this one, but the table is darker then I would prefer. I also prefer no backbox these days as I like a larger table, but that is an author's preference.

I've added a screenshot to show you that I get no lockbar image. This is because the image is 1280 pixels and I can only use 1024 pixels on my setup. I exported it and resized it to 1024, re-imported it and it works fine for me now. I just thought I'd pass that on to you.

By the way, that guy on the left seems to have taken his love for pinball waaaaaaaaaay too far. Table seems happy enough though and his other girlfriend beside him doesnt seem to mind at all.

That means he has found the right girl! biggrin.gif

Bob: other than the decal for the lockbar, the table is angle indepentant. You can move the table to the poition of your preferance and simply move the top reels off the screen smile.gif The cabinet might look a little funny though, I could probably send you the PSD for the backdrop so you could make the neccisary adjustments.

BTW, thanks for all the kind comments guys!

Thanks, Bob, for the head's up on the lockbar. I'll edit it in case there's an update.

I'm a little disappointed that these older gems get very little attention compared to their modern-day DMD counterparts. Not only are they a big part of pinball history, but without them, DMD models would have never existed. This is why after T2, CP, and WH2O, I'm moving to an earlier era.

I was also hoping for some more feedback, since I was unsure about the ball image change and their effects on performance. Does it slow play down for anyone?

I have a script in the works to have transitional images handled, but I was unsure if I should implement it until I knew what we have now doesn't adversely affect performance. I remember not being able to play many a table, due to system limitations, and I like to try to make tables playable for a as large a part of the population as possible.

Thanks for the compliments and feedback.

I'm not sure if the reflecting ball has been used in any other tables or not, but I love it!
I grinned when I first noticed it.

With regards to the ball textures:

Im running at 1600x1200 on an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (single core) with a 7600GT 256mb card. The table plays very nicely and ball movement is very smooth.

Compared to Plumb's Xenon on the same system your SM runs MUCH faster. I think this is because you are using less ball images and probably using switch areas rather than changing ball texture based on XY co-ords of the ball position as is the case with Plumb's table?

Hi Noah and UncleReamus,

Beautiful release! I like the lighting and art. On my Vista laptop with T6400 dualcore at 2.0Ghz, 4GB internal memory and 9600M Nvidia card it works good but I have to optimize Vista in general to be able to run smooth tables, but then it runs fine. I'm not familiar with this table but I'm not fond of the "levitating" ball movement in general. I checked the gravity constant and found it to be at 1.06G instead of the recommended 1.667. I don't know if this is a design choice or error but if you change it to 1.667 the ball movement becomes much more realistic IMO. This change will need a adjustment to the flippers as well, probably upping the strength but I haven't played around with those settings yet. This may all be a matter of taste but I thought I could post it anyway! Looking forward to the next projects!
Greetings Slam23

Did you know that "playing pinball" is called "flipperen" in Dutch? Now you know and may your life be enriched by this arcane knowledge....

I don't care for that gravity setting. The ball seems to be made of lead on that setting, and appears too heavy. I've found somewhere in the 1.4 range more to my liking.

Thanks for the input, and feel free to change whatever settings you like. The play will be tweaked a little in a future update release, along with full alpha-numeric displays and improved lighting effects.
