Been wanting a mame cabinet for 10+ years.
finally pulled the trigger.

Got the cabinet built last night.

Only thing left is to trow the pc in and hook up the control panel, light guns, wiimotes, and 360 controllers.

Got a 6 tb drive with 150 + emulators and a full hyperspun install with all the media thanks to randr.

I think my vp table building will slow down for a little while.

Have already done that 6 years ago. Used an old cabinet and installed every emulator available and many retrogames...:)

Nice, I really like the control panel set-up. It's going to be hard to play on it's side like that though :P

Looks good! I'm not far behind you, that's what started this whole pinball obsession for me.

You should celebrate by releasing 6MDM ;) (OK no correlation I'm just being selfish)

Don't do it!  It is a huuuge timesink, you will be setting up, collecting systems and messing with configs for YEARS (and do little actual playing, atleast that seems to be the case here). VPX will NEVER come out.

Kidding.......  its great to have one. And constantly messing with the setup is half the fun.

Nice, now this should be on your ToDo List:

Donkey Kong Kill Screen, Pacman Killscreen or a "perfect Pacman" and: save the Princess at Wonderboy ;-)

Ok, i have never reach this (DK 160.000, Pacman 50.000, Wonderboy ? )

Whatever, MAME reminds me on good old Times with great Games !

I understand you, that you will VP left for a while ... Insert Coin !

But 6 TB and 150 Emus are (perfect but...) too much, you will see, you Play only at your "Favorites",

at my i have mGalaxy FE with 27 Emus, i had ignore all others to config (too old Consoles, ...)

Did you have this all build alone ?

I recommend for everyone, they wish one: Build one :-)

Look, it is a nice Pair ... lol

I built 2 MAME cabinets about 6 years ago, sold one and when I moved to a new house the other one didn't make it :(

Now that my pinball cab is done I'm thinking I want to build another one, lots has changed in the MAME world in those 6 years.

Are there good plans available still? I really like unclewilly's design.

Wow UW, that artwork on that cab is awesome!  I would have skipped the Simpsons for some more classic characters like Sinistar etc, but it looks sweet!

It looks like a monster, how big is that monitor/LCD?

You can do something like this and have the pincab run both. This handles all games with a 3 button layout and does greet with portrait based games like ikaruga or under defeat. The monitor is big enough that even games that are 4:3 still seem pretty big. Attached File  image.jpg   225.27KB   15 downloads

Really nice cabs. The only flaw are the LCD monitors imho.

After using a real 15KHz arcade monitor I can't play mame and old school gams on lcds anymore (with or without filters).

My cab doesnt just have mame though. So to get the best experience across all the emus, an lcd was the best option for me. And a quarter of the weight when i need to move it. Plus its much slimmer then with an arcade monitor if you are lacking in space

I agree, I use a wells gardener 27" arcade monitor, they don't make them any more but they used to be the monitor that was used to replace golden tee's.

My cocktail sit down uses a LCD so I get the best of both worlds.

My mame/arcade set up is over 5 years old now, I'm still running hyperspin beta and windows XP.  I'd like to update at some point but never find the time and I'm anxious about going forward with it since I know it could potentially be a lot of work to get everything all dialed in again.  It's one of those things where "if it aint broke don't fix it" but now more and more games are coming out that I can't run like the newer Mortal Kombat's and Street Fighters.

UW: I imagine the files would be hefty, how did you get all the emus, roms and media off of randr?

Uncle Willy I hope you can provide a good review of that cab from Recroom Masters.  I was considering it as I am out of space for my dedicated games and really want a fighting all around Mame cab for add to the mix.  I may stick one or two dedicated machines in storage to make room.  that cab with the custom MK or classic art is sweet.  I bet MK Komplete PC would run awesome on it.  MK X is also on the way but way to gory.

I have a little barcade :) it IS a time waster configuring and getting all running great, but fun at the same time.

Hope one day print and put the decals/art so I can post pictures to you guys.... and I hope one day randr share with me that 6tb data too ... :D joke

Happy weekend friends!!!

UW, nice cab btw, super awesome!!! and welcome to the Arcade club :)
