File Name: Power Play Bally 1978 Night FS Cabinet PhysicMod5

File Submitter: Les73gTx

File Submitted: 28 Aug 2014

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): Les73gTx
UncleWilly
dboyrecords
Itchigo
arngrim
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1978
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Let me begin with thanks to TAB for allowing me to mod this table and all credit for the original desktop VP9 build go to TAB and the build team for that table.

A big Thank you to all of the people I had with me on this build.
UncleWilly … the beautiful GI lighting and Night mod of the table along with some primitives
Dboyrecords …. The great playfield images that really cleared up the table
Itchigo …. Tutorials and tips and tricks for adding sounds and triggers and some images
Arngrim …. DOF code for disabling the Mechanical sounds when using B2S server and back glass and     correct config tool toys
Thank you

Also thanks to all the community that gave support and helped with Ideas and suggestions and kept me motivated.

This is my second attempt of making a table to give back to the community … the first table is still a WIP!

I chose this table because I am a hockey fan and player and coach so when I remembered playing this table as a child I just had to have it on my Cab.

I converted TAB's Desktop VP9.0 table to FS and adjusted to my personal Cabinet viewing taste. Added all the missing sounds and added some new sounds with some help. dboyrecords updated the play field images. Adjusted a few play field objects that were out of alignment. Sent it off to a master of GI lighting UW for the night mod and all lighting that you see. I wanted to get the look that TNT Amusements achieved when they did a video review of this table on their website. I think UW nailed it.  Have to give a shout out and thanks to Zany for the suggestion of Zipper Flipper upper flippers, I have tried to recreate them as best I can (Thanks to UW for the primitive help) but I am a novice so I spent a day trying to get what looked good to me. Photoshop the PF images to clean up a few little things and also for the Zipper Flipper primitive images.  I have spent a lot of time and made a lot of adjustments to the Physics of the game and with a friend of mine owning one I was able to play it and make some very good game play that I feel is really close to the real table.

This Table was built on Beta VP PhysicsMod5 and WILL NOT WORK on any other version without modifications.

Please feel free to mod this table without my permission at any time. I am a novice and I am sure there are people that can make this table even better.

Use with Beta VP PhysicsMod5 exe

F6 for the Dip switch menu while in game.

Also look for my VP 9.9.0 release, it plays very well and a little faster than this version but still really close to the real table I played.

Enjoy

Nice work! The table looks awesome, and the Pmod version is sweet!

Excuse me while I delete another FP table. ;)

Leaving on a weekend trip to New York City, have to be up at 3:00am but I figured I'd log in and I see this.  Very happy I did I'm about to log onto my cab and try it out, thanks so much for breathing some new life into this classic table, so very thankful that this community keeps giving and giving.

Much thanks to all who helped as well and yes, special thanks to TAB, of which I think people don't realize just how much his and Destruk's fingerprints are in probably 50% of tables that we enjoy.  Without their pioneering work, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Where can I find the normal 990 table ? I don't like Physmod5 tables :( I don't wanna use multiple verions of VP, I hope when VP10 comes you can select per table if you wanna use physmod or not (or change the nudge settings per table)

Hmmm .... I do not know enough about all of this to help you unfortunately, but I can tell you that I have the VP builds on 2 different computers that I was building the tables on and neither one does that  .... I hope someone else can chime in here and suggest a fix  ...

Glad you like it other than that.

Sorry Les it was a false alert I made some change recently to my autohotkey script and I screwed on the selection and PhysMod2 was executed and that was the cause of my issue sorry again...Problem solved on my side for all other future test of Physmod5 :)   Thanks for your wonderful table and I can confirm both version work flawlessly

Thanks a lot for this good ol table. Hope to see even more where this came from ;-)
It looks and plays really well!
Is it difficult to get the mech plunger going (or do I have something bad going)?

I tend to agree. I think Physmod5 is a good step for realism. The ball feels like it has real 'weight' and flipper shots are more like the real thing. but the mod also feels like it isn't ready, certain table elements seem to struggle with physmod5, kickouts especially. No backwards compatibility. My opinion is that tables should be released for the latest, full version of VP (990) before a pm5 version. Don't hate on me. This is just my honest opinion.

Not being able to nudge tables without modifying each individual table means people without the time to devote to such an exercise can't utilise it to it's fullest extenet. For myself - two kids, two dogs, wife, friends, etc. Just no time. Not everyone's front end can handle multiple .exe files either. I actually really like 990. A huge jump was made with dx9 and I think the physics are actually pretty damn good.

I just found the link for the 990 version of this really nice looking table. Thanks ! When my house quietens down later tonight, I will check it out :)

I am sorry Sunskift ... I do not have a mechanical plunger in my cab, only a launch button. So I will ask someone that has a mech plunger to chime in if they have a solution.
My only suggestion would be to start with the settings and match them up to another physmod table and see if that is a step in the right direction. I am new at this so it might be more than that I dunno ... sorry

Sorry CJS that was my fault in 2 ways .... I posted the VP9.9 version just after lunch time and then I posted the the PhysMod version later in the same day .... they both got approved within 20 minutes of each other in the evening. I posted the VP9.9 version to the wrong section under Desktop tables ... I have asked for it to be moved to the correct location under cabinets ... Sorry for the confusion.

"Added all the missing sounds and added some new sounds with some help."

I am wondering where these new sounds go as I am unable to get them to play during game play.

P.S. I had a Canadian friend over to have a crack at the table, complete Ice Hockey nut that loved the table. Well done Les73gTx.

The MP3 files that I included in the download are extras for your frontend. For example, PinballX has a audio folder that will play the mp3 file for a given table as long as it is named the same or you import it with PinballX's GameManager tool. There is no music that plays while in game on this table.   The table sounds that I added are all in the script and working.

Thanks for the comments and I am glad you and your friends like it.
