Hi,

I've seen a few posts but have not been fortunate enough to find the right post (if someone's already mentioned this) or I am blind :).  Anyway, re: titling, it seems to be quite difficult using analog device such as the virtuapin controller, at least it is for me.

Some info:

- Using the virtuapin digital plunger kit

- Using Visual Pinball ver 9.21 and 9.9.0

- nudging works fine

- I have contactors/mech motor and shaker motor

- On at least one game (Sinbad), tilting works fine

- let's use a specific example, the newest Flash Gordon, it does not work

- Settings are the same in VP for gain, tilt sensitivity, etc, nothing changed, so I would think what works for Sinbad, works for Flash Gordon but it does not

- Of course there are script settings such as "vpmnudge.sensitivity" which was different for both tables.  So I tried setting the same as used in Sinbad (vpmNudge.Sensitivity = 5) on Flash Gordon but it doesn't work.

- one time, 10 minutes ago to be precise, I reset the vpmNudge.Sensitivity back to 5 for Flash Gordon and the moment I pressed the flipper, the machine tilted.  Now since I had some very high gain and tilt settings, I tuned those back down trying to find a sweet spot, but no success.  Then the big frustrating moment: it stopped tilting ... even if I ended up putting the numbers back to extremely high gain/tilt sensitivity.

Drives me nuts, there's got to be something I'm missing, though I suspect the loading of the settings/keys may be buggy: sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Any assistance is appreciated, you can't have unlimited nudging, it just isn't right. :)

Thanks in advance.

Loaf

I guess it's somewhat satisfying to hear that others with Virtuapins are not getting very good results with the tilt too. I'm just a bonehead when it comes to things working correctly. I am satisfied with the nudge aspect, but as I said earlier, I have never been able to get it to tilt and believe me, I have shaken the hell out of it trying . And those boxes that I referred to in the other thread having to do with Accelerometer rotation and Mounting Rotation. Should either be checked? And I have a 0 showing in the window of the Acceleration rotation. Is that correct? I tried checking those boxes and saw no difference. I brought up Sinbad also and could not get it to tilt

I had my share of frustration as well trying to get the tilting work naturally. And never got there... until I just added a real tilt bob to my cab. It was easy to get working so that the tilt bob triggers one keypress event for VP. The only downside is that I need to add one row to each table script to make it work correctly. I know this doesn't really help with your configuration problem but I can easily recommend just adding the real thing. It works :)

Since I can tilt 9.21 all day long with the VirtuaPin Controller, and all three reports have involved the use of 9.9, I can only assume it has to be something 9.9 introduced.

Discussion about using the tilt bob and changing the script:

I never had trouble getting the tilting working. I just never seemed to get the settings dialed just right. With a real tilt bob there is no need for that.

Noah: I spent 4 hours, count it 4 trying to get tilting to work properly in vp9.9.0 and vp 9.2.1 and it wasn't working right. Before you get defensive ;) I 100% do not believe this is a virtual pin controller issue since the nudging works perfect, so it's either a bug that creeps up, a device that interferes, a win 7 issue or a loafer issue.

Not at all defensive, Rob. I'm offering my insight to troubleshooting. When I say all day long, I mean it literally. ;) Do all three reports also include LEDWiz toys?

I did go back to 9.21 and was still not getting a tilt even at 1000%. And I have no extra toys on the cab

I have led wiz toys but as bob just pointed out, he doesn't have them and he too has the issue. This has to be a combination of issues causing this, it's too all over the place. It's not the end of the world, I think the most important thing is for the nudging to work and I find it works as advertised. It's just that for me, not being able to tilt means people overuse the nudging, so simulation loses something in turn. I'll keep working at it.

Bob: I don't check either options but that's because my understanding is that's only needed if you install the device vertically and not upside down.

Paul: can you confirm this?

Arghhhhh!

Consider this a bump! Jesus, this is driving me nuts. Favour to ask those that have analog nudge device and have never gotten tilting to work: can you download Sinbad FS version from this site and try it? That table tilts every freaking time, no problem. Most Other tables don't appear to tilt at all. If you have Sinbad and other tables titling, I would love to test it out.

Loaf,  One comes quickly to mind.  Attack from Mars tilts for me if I punish it a little.   I am using the sidewinder pro for nudge.    I can also get Flash Gordon to tilt as well.     Some tables never.

If the tilt is a result of a 'keypress' nudge, then it would be dependent on the VPM sensitivity in the script, wouldn't it? Just a theory.

I dont have analog nudge, but that was the question I had.  Does the spacebar (forward nudge) cause the table to tilt?  If not, maybe the table script does not have the tiltswitch assigned correctly or tilt sensitivity is too low.

Hi Loaf...I just played a few games of Sinbad for you and on my cab, I was not able to get it to tilt. It will tilt by using the space bar however. Fir the record , I have my tilt settings set at x@ 850%. Y@1050%. Dead zone at 15%

I have had mixed results as well. I never really bothered with the tilt, my main concern was getting the nudging to work correctly, now with ver2 of the controller and mjr's new nudging code I'm happy with the nudging.

After seeing a few threads questioning tilting I played with the settings.

had X axis set to 1050 and the tilt set to 850 and tilting seemed OK, if I raised it to 900 it would tilt to easy so I left it at 850. Turned the cabinet off for the day..

Then the next time I fired it up and played a few tables I noticed that the tilt wasn't working. I tried different tables and versions some worked and some didn't.

I also noticed that the Y axis didn't tilt even if I doubled it's settings. My hands were sore from shaking it to much while testing so I stopped and turned it off.

The last table I tried (can't remember which it was now) would tilt in version 9.9a but not in version 9.21 or physmod5.

I will test a few more tables and write it down and get back to this thread.

I'm using Win7 64bit for the OS and am running a new high end hardware system. I don't use ledwiz.

Evidently there is a issue with the analog tilting... at least on some systems or versions of VP?

Rich

Bob

as far as the Accelerometer Rotation setting goes, if you check that box you have to put the number of degrees you want to rotate it.

I set mine to 180 to get the nudge to go in the right direction. This setting only seems to affect the x axis. so if you tilt your table to the side it changes the direction the ball rolls.

The other setting the Normal Mounting Orientation seems to affect only the Y axis or which way the ball rolls  forward or backward when you tilt the table vertically.

By the way when you change those settings be sure to unload any table your testing with and then reload it or you will not see the results of the changes. I usually unload VP it's self and reload sometimes just to be sure.

Rich

update: using the new nudging exe vp9.9.0a, I find the two new tables released today "escape" and "Star Wars Trilogy" night mode all tilt !  so I tried TFTC and it tilts too!  retried playboy, nope.  retried Congo, works!  retried old powerplay, works.

So must be a table script issue then since powerplay and playboy use similar hardware righ?

can anyone that has tilt work for them all the time confirm they can get the new playboy for vp9.9.0to tilt?

I will test physmod nudging exe tomorrow, I am beat

I already asked for this analog tilt problem (and i was not the first :db: )

I tried many settings for the tilt sensitivty,, analog device gain etc .... and bored with trying, i just set good settings for me to nudge correctly.

I have 96 tables , some tilts, others not (even with excessive nudge ! ) .... so finaly , i use it as it is.

When i played real pinball, i sometimes used big nudge , to gain a credit or to try to beat high score, but now it's MY pincab  :pinnochio: , so i do less nudge, and even on the "tilt working" tables , i have very rare tilts.

Same for the "problem" with differents settings for physmod , i just stopped using it.Now i just spend time playing, waiting for VP10

To avoid to be out of topic, i just confirm i think the problem is not a setting in vp9, but there's someting different on some tables.
