If you like things stripped and naked (and what male doesn't by the way) then have I got something for you. wink.gif

Using one of my spare web spaces, a new gallery generator, and 12 hours of upload time, I have placed my stripped playfield archive up and is now available. About 2100 images, over 250 folders sorted by table name, all naked. I started rebuilding the archive when I lost my main hard drive a couple years ago, but you never know, I may find more on a disk somewhere. There will be very few duplicate images, as I have a program for that now, but if you notice any, just let me know. The total size with pages and thumbnails was 1.5 gigs, so there would be over a gig of actual images.

This is a mixed bag, in terms of size, quality etc, and there are a lot of closeups as opposed to full shots, so people like wtiger should be quite happy glueing them together for a few months. Some of these are real huge as well, and great just for details needed when building a table. For that reason, I built a preview system for each image. You have to wait for that image to fully load before clicking to get a full size image, it's a know bug, but so far haven't come across it.

It's a very simple system, but expect long loading times. It also has a slideshow, a help system, and has Cooliris support if you have the cooliris plugin. Everything is sorted by company name, then by table name, so those of you with slower connections don't have to wait 10 minutes for the screen to load. I built thumbnails so it's as fast as possible, but I can't do anything about the host. Not suppose to use the server as a file host, but this service is so bad and kept screwing up that well, I don't care. wink.gif

Have fun guys, if you want to add to this, just pop me a PM and send me a zip file. It's pretty easy to build, check for duplicate images, and syncronize the files for uploading. I still have loads of room for this server, though I suspect they won't be to happy when they find out (though they may be too stupid to even know how to check) so this is sort of it's up while it's up. Please remember that, and don't just strip the site, excessive bandwidth will tip them off, so please just take what you need. Once it's down, it's down, and you will be denying other people the right to use it if you are that selfish. This is a resource for people to use to make tables with, and a lot of tables have been released using images from this archive, and a lot more in the future, so remember that one as well.

LINK DISABLED. Decided I could do far better than this, so lots more is coming...

There's at least two of my redraws that aren't up there yet; Stern Magic and Atari Superman (plus the still-in-progress Voltan). I'll have a sift through and see what else I've got.

Cool, shiva, thanks for offering a great collection!

If you have a small banner, I will add this to the Recommended Sites section.

Also, if your host has issues with it, you can always host it on our new server.

Thanks Noah, but I do have other servers as well. wink.gif

They are available to anyone, even FP. In fact, there are quite a few FP tables out that have been released with images that I have provided for them. Of course, don't tell Black that, as he's under the impression I don't contribute anything to the FP community, and has made it very clear he wants it that way, so I would suggest not putting up a actual link at the FP site. Nearly all the main authors there know that they could get in touch with me directly if they needed anything. I have 10 gigs on the drive right now, but that's all the room I have, god knows what else I have if I start looking through boxes for disks.

Eala, thanks. There are a lot of tables that don't have a full pf shot, that's the reason I started collecting smaller shots of part of the tables, so that with enough, a full size pf can be built. Thousands of tables out there, so it's a pretty small collection really. I wish I had the time to do it properly, especially with the battalion of plugins and filters I have for photoshop, but I don't.

Thanks again. I've been hacking the template a bit, so there are some changes like file sizes and image height/width display now as well. I'm going through the folders, and there are some bad file names so they don't show up, and other file names that are just very weird or contain bad characters, so I will have to do a batch rename. I also will add my collection of private images for VP table development as well, a lot of the old shivaSite archives, plus my custom graphics. I have decided I will release my older graphics, quite a few from released tables I have done, and never made public before. But because of the changes, I will have to delete and reload completely with the next update, but at the moment, I don't have enough new additions to justify the time involved, especially as I am starting a new project tomorrow and I could use the computer time for that and not tie it up with another upload.

I'm pretty sure there's enough there to keep people for a few months. wink.gif

Whoa what a cool site! ohmy.gif

I think I might be able to help a little. I noticed the "Unknown" category under the Gottlieb tables. I know the first one is Orbit (correctly categorized in the Gottlieb section). The second one is Airport, which isn't in the Gottlieb section. I didn't recognize the 3rd one but it's Mermaid, correctly categorized again. The 4th one is actually a Williams table, Satin Doll, which isn't in the Williams section.

Sure. When will you come over and spend a solid week sorting through 10 gigs of images, finding them, moving into new folders and then renaming them as you go along? smile.gif

Thanks. Fixed in my local copy. There's a couple in the Williams/misc folder, pretty sure those are not the wildfyre tables. smile.gif

Thanks popette, I should have known that since it's written RIGHT ON THE PLAYFIELD! geez
I figured you would know them, next batch, I found some in my unsorted file. 4 old 60's gottlieb, all with big pretty ladies on them, but that doesn't help, as that's only about 80 percent of all the gottiebs. Real classics though. Found a couple others, jacks to open, floating in the wrong place.

Actually Hide, these are mostly from the last 3 years after I lost my hard drive, and I had the time to grab them. I'm good at finding things though...

Oh, before I forget, I will still upload on requests, as I have a lot of various images, plastics, cabinets, pf images etc, especially of the newer stuff. I just checked, I have over 40 megs in my TAF folder, even after taking out the bare pf. Since my visits can be rather erratic, it's best to PM me, so I get a email notification.

Just a update. I've been going through my files (which really badly needed it, there is a bit of junk, and I found a lot that were sorted in the wrong folder) and making a master copy to dump a few files in that I noticed might be useful for table development. Since I don't want to pull my hair out trying to find these images again, I have sorted it so all the related files are by company name, and then by game name. The biggest problem I have had is in finding things, as most people sort their stuff on the web as by target images, or bumper caps, etc. Takes a long time and hours of searching to find all the components needed to build a table, and that's pretty much what we all have to do.

Simple concept, most people search just for one table, so I figured this would be the easy way, just have everything related to a table in one folder. I'm pretty sure this is exactly the same way that a lot of authors do as well. At the moment, it's the little stuff I am adding, cards, target images, bumper caps, some nice redrawn cabinet images (FP people should like them, not really needed for VP, so I never collected a lot) in other words, the small stuff that drive people nuts trying to find.

I'm thinking of folding in the stripped collection into this as well, but haven't decided yet. Would that make it easier for everyone?

A lot of stuff I didn't add due to permissions, mostly the hand drawn stuff that wasn't loaded into the old site in the first place, so I will be going through the folders and removing some things. There will be a very simple upload system in place as well, so people can add their graphics, and I am willing to sort through it and put them in their proper folder.

I don't suspect it will get much larger, my target size is 2 gigs, anything more will create a strain on the host server that's not that great in the first place. That's the reason its a html based system, as opposed to a database, when you have such a large amount of files listed within a database, it really can strain and slow down a server. You can get away with it with a virtual hosting server, but if you start going over 5 gigs, you have to start looking at a semi-dedicated server, and if you are over 20 gigs, you need a stand-alone site on a dedicated. At the moment, I have some spare room on this one, so I will be going through my custom graphics and seeing what I can add.

Once this is all done, and everything double-checked, it will take a half a day to rebuild the pages and thumbnails, and another day to upload a fresh copy.

awesome, thanks. adding it to the collection, be up next upload.

be a couple days, just started the renaming. Found some scarce stripped pfs, qbert quest and several others. I dipped into my stuff, and even made a few graphics in extra colors (I love photoshop) and added the rest plus some redrawn star trek plastics. Roughly 500 images from me, a lot never seen before, so i attached a couple of the nicer ones that I recently did.

over 4800 images now to be uploaded. smile.gif
